Thought Wilsons reaction was horrible earlier - hopefully they can throw a big fine his way for that behaviour.
His decision was justified. Any idiot could see he played a shot, yet Umpire De Silva felt otherwise. Sh!t umpiring.

Regardless of whether it was right or wrong (and i agree it would be given not out 99 times out of a hundred) you cant stand there arguing a decision. Will be like watching Arsenal and Man Utd chasing referees around the pitch once you let players start behaving in that way!

Don't agree with Jeet too often, but he's right, terrible decision. He'd played that shot all innings and apparently this time he wasn't. Asoka's let himself down there. Even the UDRS cannot reprieve Wilson, which seems like a joke to me! Clearly not out. also, steiner, if I was given out like that, shown the review, and then still given out like that I'd be fuming, I'm sorry but it's a terrible decision and he had every right to stand his ground on it.

How can you ever be right to stand your ground once given out? Especially after a referral as well - The umpires decision has to be final whether or not you agree with it otherwise there is no game

Is that a joke? What did he do that was out of order? Asked why he was given out when the ball hit him outside the line, umpire then checked for confirmation, he was given out and Wilson walked.

Ridiculous decision anyway, clearly trying to run the ball down to third man, a shot id challenge asoka de silva to play with his bat in front of his pad. Not to mention that they required tens at that point, any batsman padding up at that point in the game would deserve to be given out!

Why do I get the feeling there might be a bit more furore if it was Andrew Strauss or Ricky ponting that was given out playing that shot...

For a start, there have been a couple of referrals where the 3rd Ump has made a mistake - Just look at Tony Hill not turning the microphone up in the Ashes! I'd want some sort of clarification for it at least...

2 different issues here - the rubbish decision and for that matter rubbish referral decision which I agree were a joke. I take issue though with the way Sammy and Pollard seemed to have to persuade him to go off - leaves a sour taste for me that sort of thing, as for that matter does Broads constant pouting and moaning these days - a habit that Anderson seems to be picking up.
Just feels like a general lack of respect creeping into the game of late which seems a real shame as its sportsmanship is what elevates it above many sports.

There's a difference between showing dissent ala Ponting, to what Wilson did which seemed to be very calmly ask de Silva for clarification after which the umpire decided to check back with the 3rd umpire.  When the decision came back the second time, Wilson walked straight off.

I'd agree that there does seem to be a lack of respect creeping into the game, but I don't think this is one of those instances.

Do seem to be some really bad decisions occurring in this World Cup with the UDRS.  One instance that not a lot seemed to be made of was when Duminy was given out caught down the legside off Anderson, decision was reviewed, there was nothing to prove that Duminy HADN'T hit the ball yet the decision was overturned.  Just seems like the clearly defined rules of using the referral system in which there had to be clear evidence that the on field umpire was WRONG isn't really being followed...  Fortunately for England he was out a couple of balls later but Duminy could easily have gone on to win that match for South Africa.

Yeah - fair point on the whole I think the UDRS is very good just needs sorting out a little, have to remember it's still relatively new though i guess. The NFL is the benchmark for me - their replay/ challenge system is the best in sports imo, precisely because as you say the rules are very clearly defined.

India vs South AfriA today. India batting first.

Can't believe R Ashwin still hasn't got a game, more so as Harbhajan has been crap.

SA rest Tahir even though he was given the all clear by the doctor, probably saves him getting battered...

Amazing Fightback from SA...7 wickets for 27 runs in 50 balls :o - I doubt Nehra would have thought he'd have been batting when they were 267-1 lol :)

terrible use of the batting powerplay. everyone seemed to lose their heads, and tried to belt everything for 4 or 6.
