you don't seriously expect that because you spend £70 on gloves that thet are made in any different way! the padding and protection level might be better but stitching and care would be the same regardless. how GM can justify charging £70 for a pair of gloves is beyond me

If I spent that much on some gloves I'd expect them to be top quality and not fall apart!

Some people want the best quality and if they can afford it, why shouldn't they?

best quality does not always mean spend the most money - hence the stitching issues

If you visit a factory and see the amount of work that goes into making a glove and the skill involved, it may be cheap labour but it is very skilful, the quality of the palms made from Pittard's leather is great and not cheap so if some gloves have loose stitching then no big deal, I'm sure the shop will exchange with a fraction of the fuss being made on here.

The price hike for a top set of gloves is based on it being sold several times and all parties needing to make a profit.

Am i right in assuming they are the 2010 model? If they are then that model cost me £55 from Owzat. The 2011 model are suberb, a little plain but top quality.

Be careful guys you cant brand GM gloves as poor appauling quality etc based on the sales of a couple of pairs of gloves and comparison to a previous  pair they made a year or so before. There are laws such as libel and such a sweeping statement could be seen as libelous. I personally was bought two pairs of gloves this christmas, one a pair of GM LE by my Mrs and a pair of top end Kook by my mum. The GM gloves are far better but that does not make the Kooks appauling in quality etc as it is just my opinion based on two pairs of gloves, not a fair  comparison of severall hundred pairs of gloves. Obviously you are entitled to your opinions but is it fair to label the quality of the GM LE glove poor when it is worn by such batsmen as Shane Watson and others. If its good enough for old Watto then i would imagine its good enough for most players. But like i said its your opinion and you are fully entitled to that and have you taken them back to the place of purchase to see what they have said.?

While GM is my favorite brand among the big brands, the libel argument sounds over the top. If libel laws are indeed as draconian as suggested then it would be the same for all business and brands in our case.

Granted international cricketers play a much higher standard than any one of us but at least we pay for our kit and are the intended market for most big brands.

I think what you are saying is very fair opener but where do you draw the line on publicly saying GM LE gloves are appalling quality? Maybe the gentleman in question has a single pair of GM gloves that are in his opinion appalling quality. That does not mean that all GM LE gloves are appalling quality, mine are great and far superior to my Top end kook gloves, but in my opinion but that does not make Kook gloves appalling quality compared to GM as different models different quality. Individuals are fully entitled to their opinion but is it fair to judge an entire production run of GM LE gloves by one pair that might or might not have a stitching fault? My brothers Porsche broke down the other day but that does not make the build quality appalling, just unfortunate.

I think it's the 'indian sweatshop' bit that might upset the folk at GM.

Yeah i think thats a bit close to the bone the Indian Sweatshop remark though i am sure it might go on in some areas and with some brands but lets hope GM source their soft goods responsibly maybe one for Ed to reply on.
