Just a shame the stickers are always so big on SS bats
Ditto, awesome looking stivk, the stickers not so much.

I do like the SS bat's I've had but usually end up restickering them.

Am I going mad or does that thing have 9 grains?

It actually has 10. One of them runs along the edge the whole way down the bat, but you can't see it from th photos. The other only appears around 3cm from the bottom of the bat. To me they didn't count.

you might be a convict matey but bloody hell you have a nice bat.

IT looks a cracker bud..

Ahaha, thanks mate. Can't wait to use it, although I will knock it in properly as I don't want it to break on me.

Looks rather nice langer, and it's got Qld colours.

Yeah, the stickers aren't the best, but that doesnt bother me as all I'm interested in is how well the bat play's.

I didn't think about the Qld colours, they look alot better now, ahah :)

Very tempted by one of these looks big for the weight what would a 2lb12 be????

At 2lb12, it would be bloody massive. I'm not small by any means, I'm actually quite solid, but I cannot use a bat that weighs over 2'9. Probably more to do with me breaking my wrist, but still, it makes me look weak, ahah :)

Nice, I've notcied that alot of guys on here like 2lb10 - 2lb14. When I see this I'm like way to heavy for me. I am a pretty wristy player, I also have a high backlift so I would say that my technique is like North's, unfortunately no where near as good though.  So heavier bats make me lose my form

Hey Fella how is the Gladiator working out? Did it live up to expectations and the crucial question is would you buy another?

Hi there

It's great, performed better than I thought it would straight up. I decided to get it rehandeld and lamitoed by James and L&W as I wanted to try a Carbocane handle, so also got it lamitoed/knocked in properly while it was there. I mainly bought mine due to seeing all the SS bats being used at the world cup, but I was surprised at how well it picked up as most of the wood looks low down, but it's actualy plays pretty high up. I would deffinately buy another, but a Reserve will be my next bat, so that wouldn't be for a while.

This confirmed my thoughts on it being a good bat (Andy):
"We actually like the SS as a blade very much indeed – it looks like it should be a performer although we’d like to think the Special Reserve will develop into a better bat!"

I agree that the Special Reserve will develop into a better bat, but the SS is very good atm and seeing as I got it re-handled, it should hopefully last much longer than others who don't get theirs re-handled early on

I live in Heritage Park, which is only around 30mins from the Albion store and like 15 from the Underwood one, but I always go to the Albion one as it is their headqauters, so all the gear goes there first before being dispatched throughout Aus. I have spent a fair bit over the last 4 years at the GCCC, not a cheap hobby to have, ahah. Also a shop called KD, which is another cricket store has nice gloves and I bought some of them yesterday but they are too big, so I have to wait untill their next shipment comes in which will be in 2-3 weeks to get either some Small Mens or Youths (Got long legs, but small hands, ahah). I can't escape, ahah

Yeah i know the store well and sounds like you would not by another Gladiator eh? And Laver do make good bats but they tend to be a bit heavy lately but always have a superb balance and feel to them. So did the handle come loose or break on your Gladiator? I know i had an SS Platinum reserve from Assad and got the handle changed as i hated the shape as it was too wide at the bottom for my small hands and could not get a proper grip.

Although the bats are more expensive over here, I think nothing can beat going into a store and picking up many different bats and seeing what one is right for you, so I think it will either be GCCC or KD from now on (after I order my reserve of course). The handle didn't break or anything, but I could tell it wasn't that good and the rubber springs werent flush with the handle, so I could move them around and decided to get it re-handled at the start to make sure it doesnt break then can't be fixed. Also wanted to see what a carbocane handle was like. I will be asking for a bat that weighes 2lb7.5oz finished (Stickers, Grip, Toe Guard and Scuff sheet) as they all add considerable weight all together, when I get my Reserve. The SS bat is great though, really performs well, shame about the handles though.
