Mr Afridi, please make your mind up regarding which helmet you are going to use and stick with it. You wear a different one every time i see you bat. why have you got some sort of rotational policy for your choice of lid, and lastly, where do you have room for all of these in your kit bag?

Does it bother you which helmets he wears?
His head, his money, his bag so let him wear whatever he wants to wear LOL
(Not sounding rude!)
-
yes it bothers me or else i wouldnt create a topic, he wears a different lid every time i see him, and there is no apparent reason for it
-
They might just be team helmets and he just picks one up before he goes out to bat...
-
What mattw said is true, he just uses what comes in his way.
-
I wish he wouldn't wear one and someone knock his head off, i can't stand him the over rated (insert your own word)
-
thats a rational explanation, but why wouldn't high profile cricketers like him have their own lids?
-

Troll ?
-
Troll ?
Perfect word!
-

I highly doubt that he doesn't have his own, I mean I am quite sure the helmet with Boom Boom logo at the back was his helmet.
To some players it doesn't matter and Afridi is one of them..
-
Perfect word!
LOL
So you admitted you are trolling on this forum ? lol
-
No he's a troll!
Im doing nothing of the sorts, i just take any chance i can to express my hate for him, and how i think he is extremely over-rated and very arrogant, with no performances to back them up, apart from a few, which he lives off! :)
-

I don't want to move the thread to another directly but surely an leading wicket taker of the tournament can't be overrated.
Leo, would be great if you can get one first, cheers :D
-
It's just a case of Afridi being not as picky about his helmet as some of us on this forum!
-
No one is as picky as people on this forum

don't slate afridi when cover drives around, thats like slating tendulkar/sehwag when jeet's around
-

being picky is not my point, i just cant see why he changes it so often, he has been through 3 in the space of this world cup as pictured. If i was Ayrtek i would send him a lid, he would probably wear it once or twice every 8 games. In reality though i wouldnt want to associate my brand or myself with Afridi as he is a cheat and a liar. Never forgave him for the England tour in 2006 when there was a bomb alert and play was suspended, he took the opportunity to scuff up a good length with his size 10s, all downhill from there, ball biting was just funny.
-

I'll take the risk, he's over-rated, egotistical, selfish, not a team player, arrogant. Like KP, but so much worse. KP is actually good...
Oh and he's a cheat!

Oh and he's a cheat!
oh don't get me wrong, i despise the guy too. His celebration caps it off tbh, how you can have someone that self centred as captain i will never know
-
Quite a lot of Afridi hate on the thread. Mate don't post a thread on false pretenses if you want to bash Afridi don't need to make excuses.
Afridi did cheat but he never lied. Trying to ruff up the pitch in my opinion is not as strong an offense as claiming a catch which you know you dropped. And I would take Afridi any day in my ODI team over anyone else currently playing.
Saying that he has greatly underachieved given his talent.
-
i would genuinely like to know why he changes helmet so often. i have mentioned the fact that i hate him (with good reason) in reply to other posts
-
You have been given a valid reason mate. He is not sponsored by Albion or Masuri as far as I know and I think he is not too picky about the helmet as long as it fits. Whys should he be consistent?
-
i would genuinely like to know why he changes helmet so often. i have mentioned the fact that i hate him (with good reason) in reply to other posts
May I ask what those reasons are?
I only ask because hate is such a strong word to use. I'd hate a cricketer if he swore at my children at a county match. I'd hate him if he came back and robbed my house when I was at the theatre. I'd hate him if he hit a relative of mine with his car due to his negligence at the wheel.
Do you perhaps mean that you dislike him? I dislike lots of players. I dislike KP because he is an arrogant prat who would be twice the player if he lost half the ego. I dislike Mitchell Johnson because he was regularly the only player from both sides during the Ashes that was disrespectful in his demeanour.
I don't hate them though.
-
Slate all you want guys but no one in cricket can replace Afridi and thats for sure!

Once he's gone, that's perfect for me, he's a mug, and a joke of a captain. Terrible role model. I also feel he's a poor person as a whole, and I'd rather he didn't play international cricket because he makes a terrible impression on people!
-

I'm quite glad about that. Once he's gone...
-
What did Afridi do to you Tumo? Did an opposition bring him on as their overseas pro and you had to bowl to him :D
-

Don't hold back say what you really mean
-
He could be a world cup winning captain. He has the x factor. I would have never thought he would be the leading wicket taker in the cup.
-
Who do u support Tumo?
-
Don't hold back say what you really mean
Don't tempt me roco... ;)
100 - I'm an Ireland fan, but England as well.
Opener - Not at all, but I've stated my points, he's a cheat and shouldn't be allowed to play, end of.

as mentioned, the 2006 bomb alert incident really does it for me.
the fact that he does not have a 'helmet sponsor' really does not answer my question. why would you have in excess of 4 helmets in your itinerary at any one point?
-
i would say it is justifiable to 'hate' someone who used a situation where people were worried for their lives for his own selfish gain.
-
Slate all you want guys but no one in cricket can replace Afridi and thats for sure!
Why would anyone want to be Afridi? Continuously lets his fellow players down with his pathetic batting. He's bowled ok thus far, but his 5 wickets hauls where vs the minnows. The guy is a mug

I agree with jeet, i never thought i'd see the day

Can you perhaps enlighten us, as I'm not familiar with your point.

I've agreed with him 3 times recently! It's just getting silly now!

Interesting post, I am not a big fan of Afridi too, I dislike him as a lot of people on this post. Well I think hes very commercial player and hardly a cricketer (very unprofessional at his level). Although he has a lot of talent, but cant use it by the looks of it. Bowling is pretty much spot on, but I really don't know why he bats so high up the order.
That being said we cant really be judgmental of what type of a person he is, he might be a sweet guy behind the scenes. Just a point on cheating, everyone cheats these days and is dishonest. I am sure there has been a lot more cheating going on that the cameras might not have caught. Its hardly the Gentlemans game it once used to be.
-
as posted by rp27 this is why i hate Afridi, unforgivable... terror alert, noones looking at the pitch, i'll scuff up a good length.

Sorry but I've never seen anyone else in the history of the game try to eat the ball

Just this. And the post before. Cheat, liar.

possibly worst of all, helmet swapper!

Tumo, how is he a liar?
Jeet, he ticks you enough to come out of hibernation and post on this thread?

Just got back from nets...
Well IMO a player should be the pride of their nation. Afridi is the master of tarnishing pakistan's name...
-

He lied about a) biting the ball and b) pirouetting on the pitch.
-
Jeet I will not take the bait mate. Good try though.
I will not post videos of other players cheating recently or disgusting behavior by players on field and trying to deny it later. Afridi made two mistakes in his career which he is not proud of. I will not make excuses for him but its interesting to see people getting so ticked up about Afridi.
Tumo how did he lie? Did he say he did not do it? It would be rather hard to say that with all the cameras. I have seen countless interview where he says he regrets both incidents.
-

He claimed he was trying to smell how the ball was feeling. Scum.
-
Apologies not good enough for me i'm afraid. If i took a (No Swearing Please) on your living room sofa and said sorry, you'd probably not forgive me.
What he did was/is very close to the bone and i will never come round on it, its just wrong.
-
LOL at Afridi in rp27's video claiming he was "smelling the ball with his teeth"
-

As the post below, he lied by saying he was smelling it. You've been fervently defending him here, and this is pretty significant proof that he lied. It's a terrible thing for the game to see that, just the same as Ponting not walking after that HUGE edge, and when people claim catches that haven't carried. Oh, and Brad Haddin knocking the bail off Guptill's (I think?) off peg.
-
I am not defending him, I am questioning your behavior. I am trying to be as polite as I can and keeping it civil. As I said I am still resisting taking the bait and making it a video posting competition.

Personally I see no issue with my behaviour, just take one look at the way he conducts himself and you should see that that is not the actions of a cricketer, nor of a decent, self-respecting human being. He's not the only cricketer, I think Ponting is no better, in fact he runs Afridi extremely close in the moron stakes. It's just my views on the man (for want of a better word).

I think you guys are a little too self-righteous. Probably you are still in school or university.
-
I think this thread was regarding Afridi's helmet.....
-
I think you guys are a little too self-righteous. Probably you are still in school or university.
Gross generalisation. I'm at University. However that doesn't make me self-righteous. I could go the other way and say most people in jobs are self-righteous because they have jobs, and look down on the unemployed/unable to work, because they don't have jobs and are therefore somehow inferior.
I shall go no further on this, as it will most likely get out of hand.
CD - Yes, yes it was! I do apologise!
BACK ON TOPICS.
It does seem quite strange that he changes his lid more than Beckham used to change his hair-cut, maybe that's his idea of squad rotation?
-
Maybe he just likes playing with different helmets?
-
Tumo: My school, university comment was directed at your age not work status. I thought like you do right now once (certainly not long ago).
-
I could go the other way and say most people in jobs are self-righteous because they have jobs, and look down on the unemployed/unable to work, because they don't have jobs and are therefore somehow inferior.
Probably not a good example. I will rise to your bait.
[RANT]Those who choose not to work, and sponge off the state rather than are put out of work due to cutbacks, etc, are indeed, as you say, inferior and scum of the earth. The reason for this is that I as a tax payer have to pay for them to live in a house, get benefits, use the NHS, and sit at home doing nothing but breed, creating further generations who do not get a good start in life and have poor role models, so find it very hard to get out of the "ghetto". This is not self righteousness. This is frustration with having to pay for laziness. Cut them off and make them work for a living so they *must* contribute. If they claim that they shouldn't be left in poverty, inform them that they chose to do that and that there are ways to avoid it. Benefits are not for these people. They are a safety net for those who need them.
No sir, your point is very much not valid and needs some rethinking.
[/RANT]
If I was to suggest that disliking a player or other intently was the same level of self righteousness I would be talking tosh because they have no support from me financially or otherwise.
Back to the topic of the thread.
-
I think TomTek should send him a lid so he completes the full set :)
-
i think we are a little off topic! Thread was posted for possible explainations as to why afridi has 4 or 5 helmets and uses a different one every time he bats, it might not be of interest to everyone but i find it intriguing. As for tumo, i happen to know him better than most and circumstances he has encounted have placed him in situations which make him very entitled to talk about the benefit system, if he chooses to divulge any more info on the matter then so be it.
-
well in 20 mins it may all be about to change...
-
Why not complaining about the three differents bats, he uses on the 4 pictures?
-
it is not uncommon to have multiple bats, however it is uncommon to have 5 lids.
-
Is it? I have 2 lids and 3 grills...
-
so if you went on tour you would buy 3 more for the kit bag?
-
so if you went on tour you would buy 3 more for the kit bag?
If they'd been given to me I wouldn't see any reason not to take them, or for that matter to take them all. I'd probably have one that I used most regularly, or might be my lucky helmet and one I used in the nets that wasn't for matches.
I agree that four or five is a lot, but some people on here take three sets of pads to a match...
-
nobody takes 3 sets of pads to a match that is just outragous
-
for what it is worth i came from the ghetto time and have done well for myself.
My parents had no money and no jobs some very big generalisations going on here .
my role model was Chris Broad and Alan Border....
I have 6 helmets because i like to try different out.
I could imagine getting free ones i would have one off everybody
For what it is worth if afridi had used his ability alone and stayed away from controversy he would have been world class in all forms
