Which team has he signed for ? I know he was at the Fell a few year ago and was seen back in the NE a few weeks ago but it was just for a wedding!
-
Ahhh right yeah I can imagine Tino would do some damage with the ball.
I play at streethouse mate. There's some silly money knocking around in your league lol.
Chris silverwood is still going then... He must be nearly 40 now, I bet he's still bloody sharp as well
-
123* - We were told he's over for Chris Taylors wedding and will play a couple of games for the Fell...i'll believe it when i see it ;)
-
Yeah he is but he's essex coach as well, We also have Doug Hondo in the league. Ali cook plays the odd game for his old club apparently anyway
-

I can believe it mate. I heard rumblings pedro Collins was playing at a club in hudds league for 9k and players like Craig White, Gerard brophy and rich pyrah all have pay for play contracts. Craig White was apparently offered £800 a game at wrenthorpe.
Crazy money for village cricket
-
Pedro Collins played in the NEPL a few years back, he didnt do much mind.

He is one hell of a player!
-
well yeah herc gibbs was signing on at kirkburton for 700 a game but missed the deadline , and 2 years ago phil mustard played 4 games at 600 quid a pop , got a third baller in one game , game after went and smashed 175 off 25 overs . I went to a cup final this year and basically asked jaffer ex indian test player why he didnt play county cricket , he reply was basically for 15 grand plus a car and somewhere to live , he couldnt ask for more playing only once on a saturday and the odd sunday game . Said that the county cricket shedule is to busy and 15 grand in this league is easy money .
-
He sounds like a smart chap. He wouldn't need the cash either after his test career
-
and hes captains in india and played first year of ipl lol The lad knows what he is doing .
-
Vishal tripathi is a very good friend of mine!

-
Robert Pack plays in the league above my side

-
who do you play for jimba?
Heyford in northants
-
Apart from the odd appearance from Andrew Caddick for Clevedon (Nespreso's team), I can't think of any in our league...
-

ahh right, i've played against all those clubs at one point or another. Heyford are the club i've just joined, fairly small club, unfortunatly dont have a sunday side. do you play locally then?
-
in the south Lincolnshire area, Rutland league seem to let anyone in regardless of their geographical location, hence teams from Corby and beyond, even Burton Latimer! think that Rushton and Rushden got bored of the travelling as they both dropped out this year.

Blimey, quite alot of travelling then. I've got Corby in my league this year.
-
we play Stewart and Lloyds (Corby) theyve got a kiwi who knows which end to hold! most of these sides are 40 minutes away from us, i just feel sorry for March who are the other side of Peterborough, travelling to all of those Nhants teams every so often, 1hr 20mins maybe? haha
-

Henry Olonga?
-
James hockley is playing for my club (Hartley country club) but min Patel has moved onto bexley this year. We've also got Sam billings (Kent and LMCCU). Kent have stopped assigning pros to premier league teams this year, would hardly see them play anyway uess you got someone who didn't play one day cricketike Sam northeast. Quite a few of the young Kent squad players and academy boys are about in the Kent premier too
-
We've signed Fawad Alam again, hopefully he'll be here for the weekend.

I'll look forward to facing him with the new ball then!!! Lol
-
Should be a useful addition pal!
-
My current side play in an amateur only league - however, one of our rival teams have signed some geezer called Andrew Flintoff...
My old team from back home have '2 Metre' Peter Fulton as their pro for the 2nd year running.

Palace shield league?
-
Was with Freddie last week and I asked him about that, I said what are your chances of playing realistically and he said I wouldn't hold your breath!
From the way he was launching balls down at the kids from a 2 step run up he's still got it ;)
-
jimba,
who did you play for before? i play in the NCL for Kempston Hammers on saturdays and have played the teams mentioned. just wondered if our paths have crossed before. unfortunately wont be playing you this season as we got relagated last year but you never know for next season
-

Blackpool - Con De Lange
Carnforth - Gareth Pedder
Chorley - Gaurav Dhar
Darwen - Mohammed Zaman Kahn
Fleetwood - Ryan Smith
Kendal - Jamie How
Lancaster - Dwayne Hees
Leyland - Brett Pelser
Morecambe - Anwar Ali
Netherfield - Brady Barends
Preston - Saeed Bariwala
St Annes - Dinuka Hettiarachchi
-
I will be playing against Max Osbourne of Essex this Saturday, and it should be good entertainment as he grew up playing for our club , he gets some pretty monstrous bats from Gray nics, so il be having a good look at those as well
-

-

wanted to play 1st team cricket or atleast a higher standard than div 6. i knew a couple of the guys at heyford so gone over there, tbh they seem to have a pretty strong side. I reckon we'll have a decent chance of promotion.
-
yeah you never know. there is always a team in that league that suprises you. heyford could be that one this year. you never know
-

i just fancy a game against tows ;) should be a fairly competative league, i dont know much about the teams but looking at the league table it was fairly close between those middle group of teams
-
Yeah I play for Woodhall. Tom watch out for Saeed's 'quetionable' action, makes Murali's look pure!
-
well some of the tows 1st teamers had pretty good years. parish and LH opener ( cant remember his name) got a fair few runs between them. just hope the pitch improves a bit. wasnt the best when we played there. then again ours isnt great so shouldnt complain. anyway enough of taking over this post. good luck for the season
-
..I beleive Tom was dismissed by Saeed at the weekend
-
Anwar Ali Is a good bowler! Pretty sharp, but not top bad
-

I thought Lou Vincent wasnt playing this year as hes played last 2 seasons for a club in our league but apparently has signed a contract in new zealand..
-
The same team that had Saqlain Mushtaq last year have apparently got Shaoib Akhtar this year for 12 games. Yet to be confirmed with a league fixture but we will see next week I suppose whether this rumour is true or not.
-

It's NZ off season so he's over here.
He played for Nantwich didn't he
-
ye, your league must have different rules i think , u cant have played pro standard in last 12 months in ours...
-
In ours you can have 1x overseas 1x county or 2x county
-

Now that's a league where you wouldn't want to be the opening batsman! Played against a Pakistani Under 19 coming back from injury in the Birmingham area in my first year at Uni. He was a quick bowler and none of us could get near him.
-
Lou Vincent is sub-proing for us this weekend against Burnley whilst we wait on the arrival of Malinga Bandara. I think he is then involved down at Sussex on a T20 contract?
Lancashires League pro's are:
Accrington: Ashar Zaidi
Bacup: Jon-Jon Smuts
Burnley: Imad Wasim
Church: Saeed Anwar Jr
Colne: Mansoor Amjad
East Lancs: Ockert Erasmus
Enfield: Werner Coetsee
Haslingden: Phil Hayes
Lowerhouse: Francios Haasbroek
Nelson: Burton De Wett
Ramsbotto: Shanan Stewart
Rawtenstall: Malinga Bandara
Rishton: Cameron Delport
Todmorden: Qaiser Abbas
-
I know a lad who played at KZ-Natal with that Delport lad, he's supposed to be extremely talented!
-
Excuse my ignorance but how to club team's afford these players? Also if there are no promotion opportunities surely it is a waste of money? I am not knocking it but could someone tell me the positives apart from the obvious.
-
Well I've been informed tonight that Shaoib Ahktar is playing somewhere else after being offered more money, Birmingham is the latest rumour.
-
He has played in the birmingham league before i think, i've seen him quite a few times around here also
-
I hope you are wrong Tumo but I've heard similar stories from a few people. Stewart and Anwar Jr have good lancs league pedegrees so I would expect both of them to score close to the 1000 mark.
As for paying the pro's forrester, the idea traditionally has been that the gate receipts generated by people wanting to watch top quality pro's will pay for the pros fees, hence the reason the likes of Warne, Bevan, Border etc have played in the past. Unfortunately this is no longer the case and amounts being paid for pros are falling (tied in with the fact that many of the best pros are playing IPL). With everyone playing to win its just a case of pulling in the best pro you can get for your money.
-
Canners,, don't worry about big max osbourne, just track him, put him off his county bowling length mate, lol. I would be more worried about either one of the openers getting a few runs.
Don't know of any big names playing the league this year, i am sure someone will pop up as usual, all iknow is Chris Lewis wont be playing this year for some reason or another ;)
-
yeah im hoping we win the toss and bat first...... :) then off down to the sugarhut for a vajazzle lol
-
It will be a road over there for your game. Bat first, get 250+, and the pressure will be on them. Get Walford out early doors and the game is yours.
Shame we will be on a dust track, god i hate it at Ardleigh!!!!
Good luck mate
-

He played for Nantwich didn't he
Lou is playing for Sussex, when his Uk passport and clearance comes through.
-
I spoke to one of my mates today, and his club approached Andrew Symonds, he wanted 40K for pretty much half a season as he's at the IPL
-

Do you have to pay to watch that standard of cricket? If so how much is it roughly?
-
Plus the professional generally act as a coach to the junior and senior players. So the idea is to get a good pro so he can pass on some tips and techniques to the amateur players.
And it's £3 for non-members to watch our first team
-
..I beleive Tom was dismissed by Saeed at the weekend
went to play a short delivery to leg and put it straight down lukeys throat.gutted.should have made 50.

Wow! Ashton have a disgraced Olympic 100m sprinter from Canada! Didn't know he played cricket!
-
I think Lancs League has been frozen at £4 per game although we have around 200 members who pay around £40 a year and get free entry to home games.
Jon-Jon's brother Kelly was also supposed to be playing in the league but had to pull out due to injury.
Is Michael Smith at Middleton the south australian? He played for us for half a season in 2003 but picked an injury up. Good player, nice lad too.

No he's South African, he plays for the Chevrolet Warriors. I think he pro'd for Bacup last year
-
We had Andy caddick play a few games for us couple of years ago, no idea what hes doing now.
Our club pro is Tim Hancock ex gloucester pro.
-
I think it's mad being charged to watch club cricket! Takes away half the enjoyment if you ask me!
-
Some club sides do play a very high standard and they often do seek the services of someone who is of international standard or ex international. For some teams to ermmm how can i say koff koff pay koff koff for the contracted player, additional funding may be needed to koff koff pay koff koff for their services.
i for one, would not pay to watch club cricket, but would if it was someone like Brett Lee bowling to some bunnies or Sachin batting against a decent bowling attack.
We as a club have had a couple of international players, but managed ;) to keep the cost of these down.
In our league's, you not find a club who asks for paying to watch.
-
Sorry, my mistake re: Michael Smith, played against him twice last year as well! D'oh!!
