Hi all,
Just received the Growler that Kieron listed on here a week ago.
First off let me just say thanks to Kieron for a great product!!
The bat is a Gem! It's bigger than expected for the weight (2lb 6oz gripped, labelled and toe guard), 12 slightly wavy grains, nice sized edge that is definitely bigger than a 50p.
Makes my Kook CCX450 look small. About 4 butterflies by the toe area, maybe 2-3 inches up from the toe, but honestly it just adds to the beauty of the bat.
I've already put a 2nd snake grip on and will have some pictures up later tonight! Can't wait to get this into the nets.

Let me know what you think of the bat.
All feedback appreciated

Nice bat mate, real nice profile for the weight.
Btw, I'm really interested in how the bat performs in the area where those butterfly stains are. Usually these stains stiffen the bat, so guessing it would make the ball fly ...
-
nice bat, middle pretty high. Looks like a similar profile to a GM Flare.
-
Yer high middle but looks nice
-
theres a lot of spare change on your bats!
-
Those are not Butterfly stains, they are not stains at all, it is graping caused by the buds on the tree not being wiped off and small branches forming. They are a lot harder than clean willow and although they will reduce performance they will stop that area from damaging so good in the toe.
-
i was going to ask about those mike, a guy at my club has a bat with similar marks and they thought they were butterfly stains and i didnt, glad i was right, a butterfly stains what's on my newbery right?
-
Yes, a Butterfly stain hardens without adding weight and also has no real loss of performance although the most sort after location is in the back of the toe.
-
oh right, thats something i didnt know, i was watching a bradbury bat maing video and they mentioned that pro's had asked for butterfly stains on the middle
-
I used to get the Butterfly model from Warsop made to my shape and sometimes get 1 stain, sometimes 4/5 which is bar stain, they all went and you get a bit bigger shape for your money.
-
oh right, i'll bear that in mind, quite like the look of them too
-
I'm not afraid to admit that I'd want them in the back rather than the face but it seems odd that there has not been a forum trend for Butterflys.
I have clefts available if we are starting one....
-
Saving them up ready for the day ;)
-
haha, well i quite like them, but i doubt people will start a trend from my preferences

Thanks for that piece of info.
Kieron stated it was butterfly stains, I guess its not.
If it strengthens the toe area I'm not going to complain.
-
I did say in the original post that the marks were blemishes / butterfly stains. Don't think they add any weight as the bat is 2lb 6. As long as you are happy with the bat Matt all is good.
-
Kieron so far couldn't be happier.
Hoping to have a net with it sometime in the next week... Will give a review of performance then.
-
Good stuff Matt. Let me know how it goes.
On a deferent note I played golf this morning and was terrible. Have a look on the bulldog twitter and see if you can spot the ex Somerset cricketer I was playing with. There is a prize for whoever gets it first
-
is it beefy?
-
Not beefy.

I will gladly sell my CBC butterfly. Most beautiful bat I've seen.

Had a net today with it finally but needs some more knocking in still.
The bat hit well out of the middle was pleased so far, but played a ball off the toe that left some marks in the bat.
Netting again wednesday, hopefully will have a more detailed review then once I've knocked in a bit more.
-
So just to update my review of this bat after 2 weeks of netting with it.
What a bat, the ball absolute flies off the middle and even the areas where the wood has some graping seems to be quite forgiving when the ball comes off.
I'm truly very pleased with this bat.
Many thanks again to Kieron and everyone at Bulldog for a great bat!
-
Glad the bat is going well for you Matt.
-
