Those are not Butterfly stains, they are not stains at all, it is graping caused by the buds on the tree not being wiped off and small branches forming. They are a lot harder than clean willow and although they will reduce performance they will stop that area from damaging so good in the toe.

Thanks for that piece of info.
Kieron stated it was butterfly stains, I guess its not.
If it strengthens the toe area I'm not going to complain.

I did say in the original post that the marks were blemishes / butterfly stains. Don't think they add any weight as the bat is 2lb 6. As long as you are happy with the bat Matt all is good.

Kieron so far couldn't be happier.

Hoping to have a net with it sometime in the next week... Will give a review of performance then.

Good stuff Matt. Let me know how it goes.

On a deferent note I played golf this morning and was terrible. Have a look on the bulldog twitter and see if you can spot the ex Somerset cricketer I was playing with. There is a prize for whoever gets it first

I'm not afraid to admit that I'd want them in the back rather than the face but it seems odd that there has not been a forum trend for Butterflys.

I have clefts available if we are starting one....

I will gladly sell  my CBC butterfly. Most beautiful bat I've seen.

Had a net today with it finally but needs some more knocking in still.

The bat hit well out of the middle was pleased so far, but played a ball off the toe that left some marks in the bat.

Netting again wednesday, hopefully will have a more detailed review then once I've knocked in a bit more.

So just to update my review of this bat after 2 weeks of netting with it.

What a bat, the ball absolute flies off the middle and even the areas where the wood has some graping seems to be quite forgiving when the ball comes off.

I'm truly very pleased with this bat.

Many thanks again to Kieron and everyone at Bulldog for a great bat!

Yes they are grade 1.

In saying that we do have some that we have graded down to grade 2 that we are selling for £100 inc delivery. These might have a few blemishes and.or some heartwood but are still very nice bats.
