One new bat is orange, seen a pic on cricket insight.

Being a 5 Star Dealer I'm excited about the launch of the 2012 range.
-
Halo is one in yellow, Epic in orange:-

-
Looks like the icon has gone to 1884...dont like the look of the gear to be honest
-
That bat on the left of the Halo looks like it says 1908 or something
-
1885
-
What's the idea behind that name? Looks like a modern day bat, not one from 1885?
-
The original gloves look horrible!
-
Either way, I want a Halo.

Take it these are the new Original LE gloves? Haven't changed really just the two stripes.
-

It went to a placeholder for a site that shouldn't have been available in public with the title "Fake Bat".

Thanks Tim lol but you have shed absolutely no more light on my confusion.

Nope!

Now this isn't complicated...
...the link was used when testing the part of the site some time back, that's all.
Kind regards
Edward

Are you able to say anything more about the 2012 range Ed?
is the Maestro back??
-
I'm sure Edward will expand further after 5 star distributors and dealers have received all details.
-
Good eyesight mate! :o
Well, from what I can see. I will give you the benefit of the doubt until I see better pics......
.......when will that be?
-
I'm sure Edward will expand further after 5 star distributors and dealers have received all details.
why do you keep going on about your 5* dealer status? there are a number of gunn and Moore retailers on here and people can get gm stuff almost anywhere, even sainsburys.
thanks to modern media I'm pretty sure everyone will find out about the new kit almost together.
-
Maybe you can show me posts where I "keep going on about being a 5 Star dealer" and while you are at it you can show proof of 5 Star Dealers on here. (unless the dealers are keeping it under wraps)
-

That's big of you, appreciated! :)

Has the chevron pattern been ditched from the Original LE pads?

Two out of three new models with no concaving. I wonder if this is the first indication that trends are changing back to more traditional designs.
-
Until we get some "hands-on" reviews it's difficult to tell. 1885 looks like a traditional profile bat beefed up, Halo possibly a Hero/T20 bat and the Epic a typical Asian profile bat. You could say the Epic is an Apex with a spine going to the toe.
What bothers me with most GM's is the thickness of the edges towards the top. Maybe it's me but I feel compared to most bats too much wood sits in the splice area. Might be for pickup/durability issues though.
-
I love no concaving! That 1885 looks amazing!
-
Edward, any chance of doing some hands-on testing?. Would be good PR.

And more wood up top can mean better pickup too. I cringe at the Laver Special-esque shapes where the first 6 inches of the blade are thinner than the handle. Just looks like a snap waiting to happen.
I think GM have got this right and can look forward to a very successful 2012!
Wonder which model Swanny will be using now?
-
I reckon Swann will use th epic
-
Sorry if this is stupid post and has already been covered. Which of the current 2011 range had been ditched in place of these?
-
Did anyone have then chance to play with a Luna? Really felt nice in the hands and the pick up on them were lovely.

Apex has gone, so they have effectively added two more ranges.

Well to me the Flare/1885/Halo all look quite similar.
-
Jon - did say pickup could be a reason for bigger edges at the top as well as durability.
Mattw - yes, Luna has a great pickup, though the concaving in the middle helps.

I used a Luna 808, was going to buy it of my friend, however, when I netted with it it felt horrible. I'm not sure whether it was me not finding the middle (because of the scoops?), but it felt really tinny and dead. It did had a compression crack, but then again so does my Talisman that goes and feels wonderful.
-
related note - can we rename this thread GM 2012 Product Discussion and stick it under the GM Forum.
I think that would make sense.
-

Fair point, but I suppose to counter that they would argue that 10 years ago when nearly all bats were 'traditional', most models were fairly similar.
I can see differences in all three, but by their nature they are similar. I suppose that is a gamble in some respects, but they have certainly proven they know how to make desirable bats.
-

I think they're very similar Jon, in fact so similar that I think you'll have difficulties telling them apart except for the stickers once you pick a few up.
-
I think you'll notice the difference only when you try and play a ball with them all...
-
The Epic reminds me of the Hero, but with more consistent edges from the shoulder down. But then side on it does look virtually identical to the Apex, as someone's already noted.
-
Flare seem to have highest swell position, 1885 mid and Halo low so I see a difference there.
I love 1885 colour scheme.
