Title: Cockspur Cup Twenty20 Finals Day!
Post by: 123* on September 18, 2011, 07:36:44 PM
Anybody gonna watch this? Chester-le-Street CC from my area are in it and would strongly bet on them to win it! They have lots of quality players, Liam Simpson who open's the bowling is fairly nippy as well as having Alan Mustard (Phil's brother) and Richie Waite who certainly gives it a whack! Greg will know more as he's played against them no doubt!

If Tye and Hunter are playing, surely they'll open the bowling, they bowl heat.

Hmmm I dunno mate whenever I've seen them I've always though Simo was quickest there after Luke Evans? Never seen Hunter bowl to honest with you!

St Just are from my area, played them twice this year. Opening batsman Dave Roberts who used to play for Northants is absolutely class! Keeper Gavin Edwards is one to watch as well, very good hitter of a ball. They don't have a huge amount bowling wise, the overseas pro is fairly sharp but tends to spray it, you'll recognise him because he has crazy hair! Nick George is a very good off spinner for them and could be a danger man with the ball.

Can't wait to watch it!

Simpson bowls a heavy ball, but i'd say tye has a yard.  Would also back them to win the comp.

Ah, forgot this was on. Haven't got a clue about the other teams in the comp but I'd imagine Chester le Street gave a fairly decent chance if winning it, got a number of match winners in the side.

Club cricket on Sky, fantastic!

Hyde are in the league my former team are in. Many good players who play minor county cricket. Such as James Duffy and Daniel Berry. Many other good players to watch out for. COME ON HYDE!!!

I would love to play in something like this, only recently played my first game with a pink ball and absouluety loved it!

Playing in something like this with coloured clothing and the final under lights would be incredible!

As its 10 mins away might aswel go down and have a watch. Heard owais shah plays for ealing ? Free entry too!

Can someone tell me how good the standard of the teams are? Are these the four best club sides in England then? Are pro's allowed to play ?

If Shah plays hes a ringer! He never plays for Ealing, Peplow is their main man!

It's great to see Swardeston and Hyde at the finals day.  I played against both teams when I lived in the UK - Swardeston in the EAPL and Hyde in the Cheshire County League. Both were great sides with very talented players and it'd be awesome to see one of those teams lift the trophy - may try and find a Sky Sports stream as I don't think UK club cricket will get as far as NZ!

No pressure on Peploe, commentators say he is the man to watch.

Im going on Ealing to win the 1st match.

Always nice to play at Chelmsford, nice and short boundaries.

Play in the 'V' at chelmsford, and you will get runs, short straight boundaries

So Tait never broke 100mph a little while ago over here then?
Still decent pace for club cricket, like to see some short stuff.
Title: Re: Cockspur Cup Twenty20 Finals Day!
Post by: richthekeeper on September 19, 2011, 12:30:24 PM
you're right, i was just passing comment. anything above 80mph is seriously quick for club cricket, i'd be surprised if he's not playing representative or minor counties already.
Title: Re: Cockspur Cup Twenty20 Finals Day!
Post by: Burdy on September 19, 2011, 12:34:47 PM
They said he is at Lough uni and playing for mcc uni side, so must be half decent.
Cant wait to see Ealings innings, could be more of a standard run chase imo. Loving watching the larger cricketers play, more entertaining. (could be me lol)

Mylo or Ollie? I thought Mylo was the keeper and Ollie the bowler.

I think an indication of Ealing's strength is the fact that until 3 weeks ago their 1st XI keeper was Ned Eckersley, who a week ago scored a hundred for Leics 1s against Middlesex....

it's a UP bat, there is a guy who basically sponsors some players in our area, mainly Finchley CC where I have mates.
They are normally Indian/Pakistan shaped, massive edges etc.
Ive lost count of the amount of UP's ive been offered to buy this season.

No trouble bowling a red ball, batting against one on the other hand different problem  :D

i will try and find something else to blame also, pitches maybe!?.

By the sound of the commentators, Peploe has bunged a few of them to make some of those decent comments  ;)

Yeah I play for Highgate and have seen loads of UPs around in the Middlesex Leagues. Isn't it Ranjit or another Finchley coach who imports them..?

Can't help but feel for Chester-le-street here, Simpson should have had both these openers out in the first over, Peploe dropped by slip, straight forward catch, Wilkin LBW not given.

This argument can be made, but I guess in the end all that matters is one way or another these 2 wickets didn't come about and Ealing then played better..

Ealing played superb, they are the best side in West London by some distance. They have won the prem county div 7 times on the trot I think.Feel sorry for chester le street thou they have some good players.
Not sure how is behind UP cricket exactly,I have mates in Finchley 2nds and they get them discounted.
I don't like them personally but they are used quite a bit

Swardeston are my area, never played them so dont know much

They won it last year I believe but got knocked out of it by Ealing time around. The difference in quality seemed huge today, some teams seemed to handle the pressure very well and others well...terribly... For example that first semi-final...Very one-sided...
