Title: 60 minute makeover

Picked up a used Raje bat which was looking at bit worse for wear. Got bags of potential, G1/2 material but just a bit tired. Here are the before pics:-

good work mate....amazing what a quick sand will do to a bat!

yes, 80 grit sanding paper and a sander got the worst off in about 10 minutes. Rest of the time was spent doing the tricky curvy bits on the back by hand. A bit of wire wool for fine sanding and it's done. The bat in it's original condition was a bit unfinished and either not sanded down or some diy sanding had gone on. Tempted to stick some Linseed or Beeswax on to finish off, but it looks pretty good as it is. Might get some raje stickers and scuff and slap it on ebay. It's 2'8 btw with a pretty thick handle and 1 grip.

very surprised nobody else picked up on it. The seller made a complete hash of selling it by only showing the side profile and giving the bare minimum of detail. Lucky for me I spotted the "raje" on the side and realised it was probably a decent stick, unlike the rest of fleabay. A few emails with the seller to get a view of the face and establish the history of the bat confirmed my initial thoughts. Bat was brought for £170 new and used for a season according to the seller, with no real damage to the face during that time.

thinking about turning it into a laminate, reckon it's possible?

why not! I assume you would do it by sawing (presumably with an electric bench saw) a thin layer of wood off the face of the bat and then glueing it back on. Or you could just glue a chunk of wood to the front of it.


Or


How about a double laminate? Or even triple! Two or three pieces of wood glued to it - double/triple the rebound, surely.
