Crazy concaving!! :D
Looks good though, how does it tap up?
-
I'm sorry, I'm sure they go like the clappers, but my god are they the least attractive bat in the world.

Yeah don't think it wins a beauty contest, but it goes well off the mallet.

Would still pick it against any modern stickered bat ;)
It's the perfect opener/facing fast bowlers bat IMO. Nothing in the shoulders so you can do your best Michael Atherton and block what you need but super light so you can move it around quickly, and with a lovely bulge at the end to punish the wide ones.
-
Personal preference I suppose and it's hardly traditional though is it?
-
I reckon it would be interesting to put the Crictech sheets on it and see how often you actually middle the ball off your average opening quick...
-
I am thinking of ordering some and trying some using this against a bowling machine.
-
What was the pickup like with the one at the batoff Tim?
-
If you use against the bowling machine you need the special backing for them

Certainly not (it's shape is decidedly fugly!), I just think the potential power you'll get from any connection outweighs it. If any 'shape' would worry a bowler (not that it ever does, outside the minds of marketing speil writers), it is this one IMO

so glad you said that - i was worried i was the only one to think that is one ugly piece of wood!
-

Remarkably good. It was a 2lb9oz bat with a middish middle. We rated it 8.3/10. It is a bit of a pendulum so it's not the lightest of pick-ups for the weight.

I don't think anyone would describe them as pretty. I reckon the term is functional. That's what James has done here. Worked out where to put the wood and then formed the bat around it. In many ways it's just a V12 with curves.

Pick up is remarkably good

Totally agree

thirded!
-
Third one for me!
-
actually now i look 2 and 3 look very very similar.
-
3 looks like it has slightly smaller edges and a bit more weight at the top of the blade?
-
Middle has the most volume of wood, more around the shoulders and an ounce lighter. Edges are left to right, 49mm,44mm,35mm
