Great start to the year for the batsman, well some of them anyway
So whos it gonna be?
Kallis for his double after a pair?
Clarke for his 250+ ?
or De Villiers for his entertaining 160?
-
Or Punter's 134..
-
my unbeaten seventeen indoors? surely? :D
the attack was probably more challenging....
-
To me any of husseys knocks as he is proving to be a joy to watch he is not past it yet
-
i spose punters 134 could be in there but i guess the other 3 would beat that. although he was almost down and out so to speak.
manormanic im sure your knock was amazing. strikerate? 4/6s?
-
I'd like to see Clarke get a triple no reason why he cant go past a few records really great chance!!, could be some huge scores in the next England series as well.
-
yeah i must admit seeing him get a triple would be good. declaration after his 300 and husseys 100
-
If you are talking about being under pressure - I think Punter's caps it - but Michael Clarke has made 4 hundreds in his last 11 games (or is it innings?)
If Clarke makes it a tripple it will be a tremendous knock and will tip the balance for me.
However - if one of the Windies batsmen makes a massive hundred in May against the England attack - that will beat anything against either the Sri Lankan or Indian attacks
-
yeah clarke is in the form of his life. i guess captaining suits him.
I think Bravo has a chance of some runs as hes done pretty well recently. time will tell i guess
-

oh, you don't know me so well - strikerate? Imagine the percentages to which an atom can not be split. Boundaries? Imagine Ed Cowan on Mogadon after hearing that Adriana Lima found his forward defencive curiously alluring...
-
sounds like an entertaining knock then lol. i see you have voted. well im guessing its you anyway

as long as you enjoy it thats the main thing.

Aye - no chance at all that anyone else will ;)
I think my team mates did something unkind to me in a former life, this is my year round payback!
-
Does clark have the possibility of hitting 400 if they bat most of the day and leave 2 and a bit days to bowl out india?
-
Given he hit 200 yesterday, if he stays in then there's a good chance of it happening...
-
I reckon if Clarke gets to 300 he'll declare. Would love to see him get 400 though. Would also love him to get bowled first ball, the confidence of the Aussie papers is irking me.
-
Punter :D.
Why?
Because nearly everyone had labelled him and said he should hang his boots but he kept on fighting and fighting.
True legend! Hats off to him!
Brilliant and amazing batsman!
One of my favourite batsman (obviously after Mohammad Yousuf ;-) )

Got to say Clarke here, he is one of the senior players in an under-performing team(For the last few years they have been) and is the newly instated captain, there is huge pressure on him to turn the team around and get back to the old, unbeatable days they had in the past. To put that pressure behind him and score big runs regularly is a big achievement.
People were praising Cook as the best batsmen in the world after scoring 290 against India even though he was facing a poor bowling line-up and took 545 balls to score that, Clarke has scored 251* off 342 balls and has faced a better bowling line-up(Cook didn't have to deal with Zaheer Khan..)
I think it might be not only be innings of the year, but possibly innings of the decade.
-
I went for Ponting, just because of the pressure and form he's been under. Clarke is a good player of spin and has been in good form of late, 4 100s and 1 50 as skipper as well as being let off with a couple of drops. Kallis is quality but the Sri Lankan attack isn't too challenging on a road. Love de Villiers as he makes it look so easy, but same reasoning as Kallis. Sorry manormanic, didn't see yours :P
-
Chris Martin got 2* in Hobart.
It's all relative :)
-
Clarke for me, amazing innings so far, some shots were 'Viv like'. This will only be day 3 and the pitch is at its best for batting, I don't see the need to declare before tea, 400 could be on the cards.
RP showed what a champion he is, his recent form is pretty good with a few half century's prior to this ton.
I like Kalis very much, awsome record, but I've never found his batting overly inspirational.
-
I'd say Ricky Ponting. The guy was written off and everyone wanted him to retire, but he showed his fighting spirit for his 40th test century.
De Villiers was just insane as soon as he reached a ton. 60 in 29 balls.
-
Let's not forget a very fine innings from Alviro Petersen for SA as well! He was flowing beautifully when I saw him. I think Clarke's innings is the best of the year so far but Petersen deserves some respect too ;)

Is it on those youtube highlights? I voted for it by the way; am sure it must have been a maniac knock ;)

Given the decade has only been 2 and a bit years.. ;)

Clarke's 151 in South Africa was a much better knock.

I really didn't rate that Cook knock tbh. Too slow, unable to go through the gears at any point. Clarke knock a much better one imo, for all the reasons you have highlighted.
-
I do think its unfair to not rate a knock of 294 and as soon as he tried to up the rate he got out.
