what do you guys think genuine or not? If thats genuine then its an absolute steal i reckon! also the description confuses me a bit lol

Difficult to say with complete certainty but every single bat that seller sells has a 'story' attached to it. Quite why GM would hang on to the bat for 3 months 'as a gesture of goodwill' is totally beyond me.....that makes no sense at all.
-
Im sure Edward from GM was reading this he could shed some light but id imagine he has more important things to do :D
This bloke buys and sells various bats, many are restickered so who knows the truth?
-
exactly what I thought guys and as I have always had drilled into me...if it looks fake, it probably is
-
Let me just leave this here: http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=15148.0
The guy has some interesting bats, with questionable history. It's a genuine GM, but to what grade or level - who knows? Worth a punt if it's cheap enough.
-
Well I'm pretty sure Peter Wright isn't the MD as it's Edward Lowy isn't it? You could PM Ed on here, or David Bacon and get their view.
The claim that this is tweaked for a county pro is unlikely, as the CNC process wouldn't allow for this.
Plus I wouldn't trust that seller as far as I could throw him! He bought Tim2000s's SG off him, and then a few weeks later the same bat appeared as a pro selected custom SG.
He also has a history of selling stickered up bats. Not deceptively, but still, he seems to have access to authentic stickers.
-
Spartan 329 MC stickers on a different listing also.....Mmmmm Bacon.....
-
Lowy is MD of Unicorn Group.
Wright is MD of Gunn & Moore.
-
I would not touch any listing from this guy, Always seems to have top of the range bats with a story, He must of done well in his English written paper with his imagination
-
Fair play.. I stand corrected (and should also be familiar with the fact that company's have various MD's at different levels, as I have at least 3)
-
Also believe he's also on Ebay as: cricketsticks82
Just read some of his history. Another one of his things was buying Australia patches on one account, then a number of Masuri pro issue Aussie helmets turned up on another.
-
I thInk he's quite a savvy operator. I think he gets some good kit, but I reckon there's a fair amount of fiction involved in his listings too

Dear Grant,
I have discussed the bat you returned for refurbishment with Steve
Willkinson and I am most interested to hear where you got it from
The reason I ask is that the bat was specifically made for one of our
Professional Cricketers
As part of our contract with our players, the player cannot loan, exchange,
lend or sell the Cricket Equipment to any third party. Also, all Cricket
Equipment supplied remains the property of GM
I look forward to your reply

Dear Mr Goodwin
As I put in my e-mail dated 17.1.12 I intend to keep the bat until such time as I have discussed the circumstances with the player involved and I can confirm that regardless of your information he is not currently in the UK.
I will be in contact as I said and in the meantime will not answer any further e-mails from you.
Yours sincerely
Peter Wright

Thank you and good night, much love...
-
Haven't you basically just proved you are they guy from eBay? LOL
Probably be best to print screen the emails? Instead of copying them, just in case there fakes like 'some of the stickers on eBay'
-
Yeah because I managed to type them within the 1 minute gaps of posting didn't I.
Can always just forward them, but as you have already eluded to, no one cares
-
Apologise for my previous post
In all fairness though, I was being and idiot.
Everything seems to be genuine and someone will hopefully pick up a bargain.
-
Hey mate, no need to apologize.
Everyone seems to have a pre conceived opinion.
It humours me to see so much conjecture around this subject and any other of my listings.
I just wanted to set the record straight for the guy who had his concerns....
-
In all fairness I have a lot of respect for you coming out and answering the questions asked.
A lot of people give you a lot stick on here, and despite that you've given the proof of the authenticity of the bat!
-
Each to their own as far as I'm concerned, instead of responding in kind I think evidence speaks for itself.
My listings aren't fairytales that I make up, jumping to conclusions is far too easy for some people, instead of asking the simple question...
-
The email says the bat will be returned unstickered so how come this is stickered now?

i did pick up on that also
-
Well I guess it was quite noble of Cossie/gordonalan/grant Goodwin to come forward and explain the situation to us, even though it is still a little unclear as to how the bar does now have stickers.
However, bit daft to reveal that you're actually a banned forum member operating under an alias.

HAHAHA ^^^
-
Tbf I bought a bat off this guy and wasnt happy with it and he did refund the money, granted after pestering him for a bit
-
What about the 'über rare' MC 329 stickers then? I've a feeling you won't be as open with them. Just to say I've bought 2 bats off of you and they've both been gems. Quit the dodgy sales techniques and you may earn a bit more kudos.....

I can get genuine GM stickers so I applied them...

What would you like to know about the Spartan labels? What 2 bats did you buy from me?
-
A refurbed GM catalyst original with icon stickers and a Kookaburra ccx 700, just wondered where you got the stickers from as I like them.....
-
HAHAHA ^^^
Owned :D
-
made my morning that post did haha :D
-
He is banned again now. If he is getting genuine GM stickers, which I personally think is unlikely, then he must be getting them through false means.
Be careful folks as he seems to operate under several aliases.
-
thanks for the heads up johnny

as a forum administrator jonny, i think that is a bold statement and quite unfair as talisman used to get many authentic stickers? but that used to be all well and good, i bought a set of gm flares of grant last year and they where 100% authentic sourced from australia where i believed he lived for a while a year or so ago! and as you know sydney 1st grade cricket has many many high class players 90% sponsored so its not unlikely and not by false means, i think everyone on this forum needs to relax and if the bat looks good simply email the seller ask questions and if its not as described work something out with the seller, it makes me laugh the gossip and b*tchyness on this forum but when talisman was in his "element" for about 4 years no questions where asked
-
Aidy,
a) he's already a banned member
b) the forum works closely with GM and it's been made clear that they WILL NOT supply stickers to put on bats. The fact that they returned the bat unstickered shows that they weren't happy to have their stickers on the bat.
And if Talisman or any other member sells bats with fake stickers or stickers acquired via dishonest dealings they will be banned too.
-
in addition, within 4 days of being in australia i had a kransbuhler gray nicolls, and had all kookaburra kit with pro edition gloves, i wanted the same kit as phil hughes a the time and as everyone knows kook only sell last years stickers publicly in Aus, however with one phone call i paid $30 for 2 sets pf blade Aus stickers which arrived within 2 days! so its really not that much of an issue
Jonny,
agree with the part hes banned,
secondly its clear its real and the reason their not happy to keep the stickers on is that its a pro's bat which is in breach of the players contract as simple muggles like us are not meant to be in possesion of such bats
you say "fake stickers" as far as i can see his are not fake!
so fair enough banning again, but theres no need for all the other nonsense
-
What other nonsense? ???
-
Kookaburra stickers aren't sold in Australia anymore.
-
Either way Cossie is a liar and a banned member, and has been rightly banned again.
-

Just out of interest, are GM a forum sponsor ?
Thanks
-
Kookaburra stickers aren't sold in Australia anymore.
yes not publicly but im sure if you gave them a call you could get some as i emailed a guy called nick and out of interest asked for some kookaburra stickers and he said yes firstly but as im no longer in australia he cant post them to england as kookaburra uk do not allow it,
tom fair point! and thats where it should be left, the sticks hes selling look decent to me and as far as i can see are authentic and are not misleading, the sub titles even say if its refurbed or stickered! which cost him money so it shows he isnt trying to mislead anybody
-

Thanks
Completely agree with what has happened on this thread and all, but this is a VERY good point. The 'Forum' works very closely with GM and yet they aren't a sponsor? How does that work then? ???
-
They aren't a sponsor in that they don't have a section or a banner etc.. They are however making a contribution to the forum, and we have an ongoing dialogue with them.
I for one feel that their involvement with the forum is a good thing.
-
Anyway, this thread is well off topic now.
In regard to the OP I think we've ascertain the bat probably is real, though the stickers may or may not be.
