Title: Ajmal Shahzad
Post by: PedalsMcgrew on May 01, 2012, 05:35:59 PM
I see Yorkshire have just announced Ajmal Shahzad can leave!

Weird one this............I bet Somerset can't believe their luck! Just when they desperately need a fast bowler!

I'll ask around and see if anybody has heard the real story. Intriguing given Gillespie's praise over recent games - "that was test match bowling" etc

Trouble at Yorkshire... not a first is it?
in hindsight, Colin Graves's outburst at the end of the season may have been aimed at Shahzad among others...
Has echoes of Blackwell leaving Somerset when Langer arrived. Sometimes new brooms have to cut the more individual players to make a statement. Still, an odd time to do it, particularly with Yorkshire looking a touch pop gun, Sidebottom aside.

I've faced shahzad at elland, very very quick, heard serveral stories of him going off the rails, nights out etc same with rashid! But it's funny this happens the day after they sign starc. It could well be money reasons as Yorkshire are short of cash!

Looking at sky teletext it seems mitchell stark is joining yorkshire for this season so that might be part of the reason.

Manormanic - do you not know of any fictional tales about some cricketer called, say, Shahmal Ajzad that you could share?! :D

Seriously, you can't keep us hanging like that!

Once upon a time there was a Yorkshire born lad called Shahmal Ajzad.
He liked to play cricket, he thought himself a bit of a batting alrounder, but his batting average wasn't so hot.

But as an international cricket he felt he had a right to bowl with the new ball and bat at number 7 regardless of who else was in the team. As an international cricketer, his ego dictated that he could go out when he wanted, practice when he wanted and he knew what was right for him. He was also fully justified in asking for a huge pay rise once he started bowling as well as batting.

Manoramic, feel free to continue the story...!

As a somerset fan I wouldn't want him. Dont rate him And don't think he should have ever had a England shirt on. Probably Be proved wrong.

Not too much else out there that's available.......was talk of Liam Plunkett but who in their right mind wants to bowl pace at Taunton  ;) If they can get either they'll be doing well...

Well I believe in giving fast bowlers second chances and if he can perform then he would make a great signing, better get him on one of Tom's "Massey Pre-nup" contracts though to point him to the exit if he doesn't do what Sarge asks....

Hokay, let me put it this way - we ALL have at one time or another played with the guy who really, really fancied himself whose idea of tactics amounted to "I should bowl now" or "I should bat now".  Imagine that magnified a dozen times and on a professional level.  Added to which, he hasn't been shy about expressing some of his, erm, feelings to certainly key personnel at Yorkshire, including the skipper and coach...and by expressing, I may mean something closer to ranting wildly...

Why is Shazad grunting/ squealing on release of the ball?
Thought I'd switched on the Women's tennis!

Interesting stories id say but i will comment on facts rather than here say and one thing is clear the lads a very talented cricketer, by far Lancashire's best bowler today and got Phil Hughes with a beauty.
