The Nutty Buddy I ordered a couple of weeks back has arrived via a spot of internal post jiggering about.
Sadly, whilst at work, taking photos and sticking them up here is perhaps not the most impressive thing to do, but you will get a few later... Perhaps even with some modelling if you are lucky!
We might wait for the 90mph cricket ball at nads test though...
First impressions are that it feels suitably solid and actually feels less likely to crack under high ball speed than perhaps other boxes might. The shape is also very different...
If I get 12th Manned and the pitch is fit, there is the possibility of a test run this evening. If so, I'll let you know how it goes!
-
We want a full test Tim... You are the guinea pig
-
I'm thinking swinging a baseball bat at the nutty buddy?
-
make sure u do ur bikini line prior to modelling
-
did you get the whole package Tim? shorts, box and jock strap?
I got hit in the box in my first game and as I was wincing from the pain, to add insult to injury the stupid (no swearing please) umpire gave me out lbw. I was furious.
I've been thinking of getting one for some time, I guess I'll wait until after you review it.

Okay, so you lost me on that one.... as they like to use the term Athletic Cup to descibe all of these in the US...

To be fair, seeing the Nutty Buddy in the flesh had raised a similar question to me. It's perfect for taking a pitched baseball to the nuts which is not bouncing in an upward direction, but a cricket ball leaping off a pitch at 80mph looks like you might get a shock...

I thought they mainly wore cups in baseball for fielding?

Also while batting + the catchers (in cricket terms wicket keeper)

It's almost time for those pictures....

Looks good, if you don't mind me asking how much is it?
Hope it serves you well lol

It was about $20. Got it sent to the US office and sent across internal mail to avoid paying ridiculous shipping and customs charges (which looked like being about £40!!!)
Have to say that although comfortable, I don't think it is any more protective than the Puma box shown. I'd also suggest that the Puma box perhaps offers more protection as there is more room for your boys in the event of impact.
I did smack myself in the box with both a number of times, so feel qualified to mention this... I also can't believe that they guy in the video didn't have extra padding, as this size does not feel particularly roomy and I'd have been very disconcerted to receive a ball in the box at that velocity....
There are rumours of videos showing me attempting to injure myself using only my fist...

dear god, I can't actually believe you have modelled this and put it on a public forum!
looks interesting though

Those pictures may not hang around for long...
-
Make sure the plums are in the fruit bowl buddy!
-
:o
unbelieveable pictures ........... looks like you have a hard on.
-
LMAO....... :D :D :D
is it getting hot in here :D :D :D
The plastic looks a bit thin and the rubber round the edge looks a bit thin too... interesting though

If I'm honest, I don't think I'd stand in front of a pitching machine in either. The NB is comfortable, but doesn't feel like there is much space for you to spread on receiving a fast one to the box. Having said that, it is supposed to dissipate the energy so this may not be an issue. It doesn't feel like it digs into when hit.

Have to say I'm disappointed by the size of the Mongo XL. I was expecting something of Ron Jeremy proportions. Is this just clever marketing to make those that buy a 'regular' size feel better about themselves

I'm not sure, but the most popular size on the website is the L, and I reckon you'd feel that would be pretty uncomfortable.

Oh my what strong inner thighs you have oh I mean yeah looks good Tim

That's the compression shorts talking...

It looks like by the shape of it whoever designed it had been hit in the plums and they had swollen and risen
