Title: Current state of your match bat
Post by: Colesy on June 05, 2012, 10:02:38 PM
Thought we could do an ongoing topic into the current state of the bat you use as it's not often we see a used bat, as well as seeing what everyone's weapon of choice is and how they're getting on with it.

Here's mine, although there appears to be decent grouping it is in-fact 3 or 4 inches above the middle so although I'd say I've been batting well, not enough have been right out of the screws. This could be down to being on an artificial home homes, or just me hitting the ball too high haha. Finding it a lovely bat and it's opening up nicely, not to the same extent as the beloved Purist I always recall but I have high hopes.

Heres my H4L. Used all last season then refurbed by matt, had 5 innings this season and a couple of nets. Toe is damaged and handle feels slightly suspect to me but still scoring runs so cant complain

Here is my Mongoose Cor3 Super Premium recently refurbed by John at Woodstock. I like to call it the 'Mongstock' or the 'Woodgoose'.

Played a fair number of games but not batted much. It shows, the green marks are from a couple of bowling machine sessions in March lol

Used all last year for games and most nets! Did have a scuff sheet on it, hence the last of ball marks ;)

Well they use to be a pretty cheap/bang for your buck bat!
I'm not suggesting they aren't now, but the 5 Stars were a bargain!

well here are my bats, none have seen match action yet only nets...surprisingly RPC has been used the most but has least # of marks on it  :o

With 28 odd grains it should play in quite quickly!
Lovely classy profile on it too!
The SAF and Pack look rather nice as well!!!!  8)

thanks pete :) was bouncing the ball on it and felt good so will take the mallet to it over the weekend when wife and baby are out...

RPC is fantastic and hades is impressing me more every time i use it, its one of those that looks tiny but hits the ball very very well...

I find it depends on what type of scuff sheet is used as to whether the bat marks - for example, the self healing Puma ones barely mark at all, whereas hammer edge sheets are red all over after 5 net sessions.

I have been using the Chase Scuff sheets that cover the whole edge and they leave a mark every ball near enough.

I have had a thought .............

surely its better for the batsmen to have the scuff sheet make a mark as it knackers up the ball for the bowlers ... takes the shine off it???????

I've always called it swinging the old ball. Hadn't realised I was "reverse swinging" until it appeared on TV.

Cheers Toby. There is for the Hattori - http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=13184.0

I haven't done one for the Excel yet, only got it from Matt a couple of weeks ago, been knocking it in and didn't play last week but will do one soon  :)

Hattori looks a gem!

I was thinking the same sort of shape for my next bat :)
My H4L is an Excel and i love it! The middles just a tad high...

Bought it over a year ago I think! Glued it up anyway now, it's still useable.

It's still the same though, bar a bit of glue.

My match bat is complaining about rain as it isn't getting much opportunity to visit the middle...
