wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't up there for very long, and/or If one of Gm's lesser known players is without a bat sponsor in then near future.  :D

So he's sponsored by Hammer, or GM? If he's Hammer sponsored, why's he sticking GM stickers on it?

Me guesses he's just an average cricketer out to get as many free bats as possible.

Hammer Cricket are based in Texas according to their FB, if your playing cricket in Texas I doubt your that high on GM's agenda anyway....

GM do not give out stickers to any player and I can not recall any sponsered player to my knowledge using an 1885

It's one of those things that's very hard to prove if you don't know who the player is. I could make claims that I make Bats for some sponsored players who then restickered them.Who would know? I dont btw.Probably just trying to Improve his reputation and probably complete rubbish.

He's an idiot that thinks he knows everything.

Why would he give someone a bat as sponsorship if there just going to put another makes stickers on there? It makes me no sense if he's trying to get his brand 'out there'

It would be funny if he compared his bats to a Newbery or a L&W but, gave his bats higher marks. That would be hilarious.

Players do this all the time though. Saw a picture of Matthew Wade's kit on twitter, and he had a large stash of stickers in the photo. It happens, I think the difference is that Jason likes to toot his own horn a bit too much.

His bats are made by TK and Laver, right?

Why isnt Jason on this Forum or have I missed something? I remember he was on Cricket Insight but would have thought he would be here as he seems very keen on his business.

This has been happening under the radar for years although the small manufacturers have always kept it quiet. I was at a small cricket bat manufacturers years ago when a pro turned up to collect 3 new bats he'd had made which were stickered up with a major manufacturers stickers

it does happen but there is no need to go shouting about It on the internet tho! tbh it could be any joe random emailing him saying he brought a bat off him and he is sponsered and stickered up one of his bats

Surely an American player, so doubt it's any of the big boys. Look at the t20 qualifier photos and find the pic of the bloke using an 1885 with a cricket store sticker on the back!

Very good take in all fairness, I can't believe Bopara's getting so much movement, maybe he's been playing the wrong role all these years and he's really a bowler?

I've always thought Ravi was a very underrated bowler.  He's had some amazing, match-winning spells in the odd international T20 - good to see him getting wickets and a proper spell in the longer format now, too...

Happened to come across a Hammer Cricket bat this past weekend. We were at a provincial tournament and one of the boys from NFLD had a Hammer cricket bat. I looked closely at it and was sure it was a Laver made, had a made in NZ sticker on the side as well..

Now if I my company was selling bats (Manufactured by various bat makers) I would want players to use the bats with my own stickers on it. Otherwise this player is just using a Laver/TK/God knows who's bat with GM stickers. Where is the recognition/Brand marketing for Hammer? i think its a bad move to "sponsor" a player and let him put other stickers on the bat

The bloke who is sponsored by Hammer cricket, is shown with his hammer cricket berzerker, which is the first picture. The GM picture shows one of 'his' bats stickered up as a GM.

is this something laver would do tho? obviously we all are aware certain bat makers make for others but would be suprised if james would make some for another brand to sticker up.

I am very very certain it was a laver bat, had a same curve on the toe and very laver face...as soon as I saw the bat i knew it was laver...or someone is doing an exceptional job of copying the laver bat...i will try and get pics..

Why does it matter? Who really cares if Uncle Tom Cobbley makes his bats?

It actually does matter because this is similar to SG making Kooka bats...I am not trying to say his bats are great or horrible..just stating my opinion about who i think made the bat....after all we ask about everyone else's bats..

I think this comes back to who it matters to. To forumites, it matters, to average Joe who plays cricket every weekend, as long as it is good, it probably doesn't.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but the Pro was Ryan Corns (was our overseas a few years back). That year he was still sponsored by GM and hammer had made no actual agreement with him regarding sponsorship. However he lived near Jason Mellet and Jason decided to give him a few bats to try out. Just so turns out that the year after he left GM for Hammer... But originally he got a cheap GM 1885 and used the stickers to make sure GM didn't raise an eyebrow.

One of those sponsorships where you get a % off the RRP.
Aka not really a sponsorship deal
