Happened to come across a Hammer Cricket bat this past weekend. We were at a provincial tournament and one of the boys from NFLD had a Hammer cricket bat. I looked closely at it and was sure it was a Laver made, had a made in NZ sticker on the side as well..

Now if I my company was selling bats (Manufactured by various bat makers) I would want players to use the bats with my own stickers on it. Otherwise this player is just using a Laver/TK/God knows who's bat with GM stickers. Where is the recognition/Brand marketing for Hammer? i think its a bad move to "sponsor" a player and let him put other stickers on the bat

is this something laver would do tho? obviously we all are aware certain bat makers make for others but would be suprised if james would make some for another brand to sticker up.

I am very very certain it was a laver bat, had a same curve on the toe and very laver face...as soon as I saw the bat i knew it was laver...or someone is doing an exceptional job of copying the laver bat...i will try and get pics..

Why does it matter? Who really cares if Uncle Tom Cobbley makes his bats?

It actually does matter because this is similar to SG making Kooka bats...I am not trying to say his bats are great or horrible..just stating my opinion about who i think made the bat....after all we ask about everyone else's bats..

I think this comes back to who it matters to. To forumites, it matters, to average Joe who plays cricket every weekend, as long as it is good, it probably doesn't.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but the Pro was Ryan Corns (was our overseas a few years back). That year he was still sponsored by GM and hammer had made no actual agreement with him regarding sponsorship. However he lived near Jason Mellet and Jason decided to give him a few bats to try out. Just so turns out that the year after he left GM for Hammer... But originally he got a cheap GM 1885 and used the stickers to make sure GM didn't raise an eyebrow.

One of those sponsorships where you get a % off the RRP.
Aka not really a sponsorship deal
