Yep I think Tresco's back.  Essex have Cook and Ravi back as well.  I reckon Somerset to win, but Bopara to have a decent game.

When you look at both teams, they both seem to have decent batting line up!!

Have I missed something or has Napier always bowled at 90mph+? Seriously quick stuff.
Anyway it looks like a good pitch for the spinners, hopefully Waller and Dockrell do the business!

He has been up there speed wise for a little while...at the start of last season he was clocking 94 in a game against Glamorgan! Not sure how accurate these guns are at the smaller grounds though....I wouldn't be surprised if they knock up the speeds a bit to add to the 'show'  ;)

I always thought that he was 85mph (ish) - so I reckon it may be a little inaccurate!

I guess this is Cook's chance to justify his selection for the World T20...

Bopara was rubbish, Cook was possibly worse. If you have faced 20+ deliveries in a T20 you need to have scored atleast 30 runs and there is no way you should be throwing your wicket away. As it is he has wasted over 4 overs.. Got to feel sorry for the people that were dropped to allow Cook and Bopara to play today..

Ok, Someone please explain to me why Matt Prior doesn't play one day cricket???  :D

Because he has a habit of being involved in run-outs.. As seen today.  :D He plays many of his test innings at a one-day rate so he would be able to do it, I'm guessing he chooses not to so he gets more time off.
Title: Re: Tonight T20's
Post by: arc1983 on July 24, 2012, 07:12:23 PM
Prior was justly dropped from the ODI after the last world cup due to poor batting performance. Hi ODI stats are pretty weak, avg 24, strike-rate 76. He was also given many opportunities at the top of the order.

However, given his current form (especially in this season's T20) I think it time he was re-instated instead of Kieswetter.

Post by: A-Swing-And-A-Miss on July 24, 2012, 07:23:48 PM
This could be a hell of an expensive over: No ball 4, No ball 4, 6, 6, 4. 3 balls gone 26 runs.. oops.

EDIT: Sky Sports saying it was 38 from that over although I believe it was only 36, regardless still very expensive.

38 runs off an over!

Take a spell James Fuller!
Title: Re: Tonight T20's
Post by: arc1983 on July 24, 2012, 07:27:34 PM
Sky have just said that is the most expensive over in professional cricket!

NB4, NB4, 6, 6, 4, 0, 4, 6 (first no ball was 4 byes from a full bunger)

Styris scores a century, brilliant stuff. Sussex proving that even when their openers fail that they can still get a large total. They are in with a great shout of winning the comp.

Apparently No balls are 2 runs in this competition? Is this true? That would explain why I thought that over went for 36 when everybody else was saying 38..

This Ashraf guy looks very handy, swinging the ball around and bowling some good yorkers at a decent pace under pressure. Wouldn't be surprised if he was in or around the England team in a few years time.
