-

Yeh asads a top bloke and takes care of his customers

Any of the custom makers on here you'll get a good stick off, also as well as Paul at IJC and Uzi Sports.
Think I'll be trying a BB and an Aldred over the winter more than likely!
-
Thanks for the replies, so would most people recommend custom bat makers over chain bat makers?
-
Found SAF Bats via forum/ search find a local batmaker via forum. Will make you a top bat.
-
I would check out Lukeys' clearance bats. If you can wield a slightly heavier bat, I would go with the Falx on the right hand side which is 2.11, as that looks really chunky and I'll bet anything that it is much better than the Pellara you are using at the moment. :) My little brother has a Falx performance, which is much thinner than that one, and it still pings nicely off most of the blade!
Although if your budget is quite low, there are some really nice looking Red Ink bats that johners77 has up for sale! You get real quality for a very good price! You could ask him about them, and Paul at IJC knocked in the LE profile one and said it was a very sweet sounding bat, so you can't go wrong there!
One I would recommend is a Helios. You could probably still grab a review bat from him if you ask if he has any left! I got an Atlas and it is my best performing bat in terms of responsiveness and power! :)

I was going to say stick with the same bat and buy a smaller ego.
then I looked in the mirror and at my bat collection.
I suggest you buy a lovely new bat with shiny stickers from a forum sponsor!

Its not that, its just that its just unless you hit the tiny middle its just a plank

What's your budget Jim? And what kind of specs are you looking for? :)

Seriously, Can someone write up a thread and Sticky it.
How many 'what new bat should i get' threads do we need to see?!? They all come out with the same answer of:
1.Find a Local batmaker using some thing like this http://www.cricketinsight.co.uk/find-your-nearest-custom-batmaker/ ( :o there are other cricket forums?, Yes, yes there are)
2.Look at what the forum sponsors have to offer, that's what they are there for.
3. Once you've found a bat you want to buy, that matches your favourite profile/ has the best stickers then read the numerous reviews in the Equipment section of the site.
4. Buy Bat
5. Enquire 6 times a day as to whether or not it has been shipped and what time it it will be delivered as your dog must be walked on the hour, every hour between 9.00am and 5.00pm
6. Complain that the bat hasn't been delivered at the time it was supposed to be- Probably out walking the dog
7. Post your own review of purchased bat, don't forget to mention that the 'Ping' is the best you've ever had/seen- This step is optional.

YES. This man knows what he wants and he should have it! Pressure is on admins ;)

7. Post your own review of purchased bat, don't forget to mention that the 'Ping' is the best you've ever had/seen- This step is optional. absolutely imperative
8. Put it up for sale (if you have 50 posts) as it is the wrong weight/the handle is the wrong shape
you may have a point.
for reference - http://custombats.co.uk/findabatmaker.php was here first - even if it isn't quite as good as some others.

I am not sure the admin's feel pressure.
In reality if there was a sticky topic, would a new member use it - they don't seem to be able to see the selling rules in most cases (sorry for being off topic)

I know I'm only messing Buzz! :)

Finally.......... :D :D :D
Agree 100%

I like the addition, Buzz. But honestly for the good of the forum, something has to be put in place.
I don't want to put people off joining/ posting on the forum, honestly that's the last thing anyone wants. But it's very repetitive.
Sorry if I come/ came across as a complete tool.

You raise many, many good points, but I couldn't find the custom bats find a bat maker link.
But yes, how many people would read it? I'm not sure, but remember a lot of people read the forum before posting on it.
I know I did!

if you know absolutely nothing about cricket bats then i guess its a fair topic however if you know nothing about cricket bats then i suggest you shouldn't be buying.

Even if we did sticky something like this, you still end up getting variations on a theme e.g. Is bat A better than bat B, or , will bat X suit me more than bat Y.
I think it's worth acknowledging that the forum isn't just a place to research bats - it's almost it's own little social network - I think the "what bat should I buy" threads are quite often an attempt arcane ice breaker and show that some newbies want to get involved with discussions.
Potentially in that situation a little bit of tolerance is advised.
-
I agree with Johnny, I think we are being a bit grumpy here. Everyone has to start off somewhere and if you don't want to read a post you don't have to.
Would be interesting to see how many people sign up and get put off by welcomes such as this and give up on the forum.

Yes I have noticed a trend on this forum since I have come back there seems to be a bit more of a bashing and pinsonisms
If a guy wants to ask about what bat he wants to get let him if you do not want to contribute don't .
I will ask and have done in the past and will do again
-
You should buy a laver and wood special reserve with a good placed middle, from me :D
/shameless plug

Haha to be honest lad when I saw this I thought of you!

Agree, Laver and Wood! My next bat will be a Laver. Already started saving up! The bats look awesome but what does it for me is their quality of aftersale service which is pretty evident from their customers on this forum. Can't wait!

I've only good words to say in respect of the helpful guys on this forum with specific reference to buying bats. I pm'd one or two asking questions in respect of various bats featured on here. All replied promptly, giving their considered, and to my eyes, unbiased views, and for that, many thanks gents.

Extremely good point Dave. I started off with a what bat should I buy topic, best part of 2 years ago. At least its better than one word answers on existing topics in 'a race to 50 posts' although some carry on with pointless posts after that even.

Yeah kp1995... Used one have you?
