Title: New Kookaburra Range
Post by: ItsJustCricket on September 03, 2012, 05:04:33 PM
The new Kookaburra bat models for 2013 will be the Menace and Ricochet.  The Blade and Rogue are being dropped.  The Kahuna and Recoil are retained, but there will be some graphical changes on each...

The main changes across the range are bigger edges.

That's all I know for now.  Will find out more a week on Thursday, at the Twickenham Cricket Show!  :)

I really wish big brands, especially kookaburra and gray nicolls would stop concentrating on massive edges, on one or two of their models yes but doing it for the whole range, I just don't like it.

Great info Paul, did you see the range too?

Got some pics today of the GM range , they've gone all big edge.

Out of all the big brands I find kookaburras range to be all very similar. For instance all Of GM's bats are completely different in shape, I can never tell the difference with Kooks.

Not yet, just had a phone call from my rep.  Probably won't get to see them in the flesh until Twickenham.  I hope thin edged bats will still exist in 2013!

Ricochet... really? as in off a massive edge onto my stumps... Not sure about that or the menace... If thats the trend im calling the next bat i design the Thug.

The rogues only been out five minutes, so is this just another... same bat new name? as the old one didnt sell very well?

Isn't the Ricochet the one that was named in a competition Kookaburra set up in the last year or so? I remember seeing some of the entries on here somewhere...???

Think I will stick to the manufactures on the forum..

Better quality and better service and massive price difference.. IMHO the 3 keys to a good brand..

Yes I know, the gray nicolls range as been out for a few weeks now I think. Not surprised about Warner to be honest, he's the kind of player spartan want. Wouldn't be surprised if he has already been approached by them to be honest.

I've seen the pictures of the new newbery, don't like the stickers at all but IMO they are great bats. The current stickers are really traditional I think but these new ones are modern..

After reading the comment about the new Newberys it triggered something in my mind and I knew I'd seen them because I hated them. Obviously I remembered where I'd seen them - on Mueleman's cricket shop's Facebook page. They posted them a week or so ago. And the only other Newberys I've ever seen sold here had the 'classic' livery (apart from the one with the chequered flag design). I wonder if this is their response to the 'modern' livery pervading the market?

Holey Moley!  :( :(

It really looks like someone had a VENDETTA against Newbery maybe for being VANQUISH 'ed (ahem) to the colonies, then gained VENGEANCE by doing this...

On a serious note thats fugly. And for the record i'm not a fan...  ;) :D

Tom, I tried them on at the Twickenham show, and they're actually a bit more comfortable than you might expect.  Great protection levels too!  :)

I would never walk out to bat with them on, but as you know, I love different / unique cricket gear, so we are certainly intending to stock them...

Joe, the top end, pittards one (M950) is £70 RRP, and the next one down (M700) is calf leather palm and is £40 RRP.  You can take 10-20% off these prices to get to our likely selling price.  I'm thinking about posting a thread for Kookaburra, Newbery and BoomBoom pre-orders, so look out for that soon.  Like the Dynadrives, it would be a 50% deposit type deal...

Alex, the Newbery prices have pretty much stayed the same - a few very slight increases on some bats, but the RRP on the Cadbury is the same as this year's GT, ie. £250 for a Players.  No change at all in the prices of the softs.  Which ones were you thinking of? The TTs seem to be the hottest at the mo!
