Aha, not had a bat and no bowling from him so far, wouldn't say a specialist fielder from what I've seen in this match.

Played for Wim last year - the only year out of the last 3 that they didn't make this final! Maybe the common dominator! Johnno is a nice guy, does give it a bash but is batting pretty low for a batsman...

money? or to play better cricket?

I don't know either of them that well, but got the impression it was to play better cricket.

They're both only very young and by no means had big enough reputations to be offered coin when they left.

Think Sparky's still at school!

Yes, that and I went to school in Crosby!

I went to school in Crosby too.  Steve Lucas is one of my successors opening the batting for Merchant Taylors 1st XI, though obviously quite a bit better than me!

I don't know, but they are probably one of the top 2 teams in the Surrey championship.  The team is generally almost entirely comprised of Aussies and South Africans.

depending who goes - you will be in for a fun day out!! I have played against their 2020 team, we got hit for 210 and fell marginally short (cough 138 for 8 ). Realistically their second team is as good as most Surrey Championship first teams (and their third team has players who would play in some 1 teams...)
Be prepared to hear a few South African accents.

I know for some part of this season, their overseas has been John Hastings, who played a few ODI for aus about a year or so ago

I'm English and I played for the 1s last summer - they're not all Aussie/SA. Turky is Captain and is a Brit for example. They are actually good because they're a really good team as much as anything - course they have lots of excellent players, but its not like they have 2 batsmen who score millions and 2 bowlers who get loads and loads of wickets. Its much more shared around than that...

Their overseas was Tim Montelioni (or something like that) for most of the year...
