So I'm right hand bowler, I'm not a fast bowler by any means nor I have much of pace either but today I had nets after very long period of time. So during nets and after nets I noticed peak of my left toe is hurting, I obviously know this is due to foot hitting the front. I was wearing Nike Googly shoes as it was indoor, so what should be done in order to prevent it?
Obviously I'm not Imran Khan or Shoaib Akhtar who would need a hole there lol;

PS: Anyone knows which shoes are the ones used by Imran Khan and Shoaib Akhtar? I have heard they are "custom made" but who makes them? Any information would be appreciated.

CD your shoe might be too big for your foot and your laces aren't done tight enough if your foot is moving/sliding and toe hitting the front of the shoe on landing.

I think size is fine actually, I wear US 11 while US 10.5 is definitely not my size.
Could it be lace? My laces aren't very tight, I must say.

you need to cut your toe off.
Boots are by Ian Mason

Foot is definitely sliding in trainer your just too big and quick mate
-
haha i would recommend cutting the toe out because i had this problem but i dont have it anymore after cutting the toe out my friends look at me as if i was a bit weird but hey ! it works

You've also got to remember that your feet swell whilst your exercising, so therefore it's better to get your shoes that you play cricket/bowl in to be slightly over-sized to allow for this swelling.
-
Cheers for all response, I understand this is due to sliding but then the size smaller than this just doesn't work out for me :( So I'm left with this
Lol is there any toe guard for foot? ;) :D haha

get shoes that fit properly mate - they should be snug but not restrictive when wearing a woolen cricket sock (oh, please tell me you net in supportive socks rather than trainer socks?)

As I said I personally feel shoes are of right size and fit properly, this has never happened in past.
I wear Horizon Test socks mate.

Bashing your toe on the front of your boot if you aren't a quick bowler is the sign of one of two things.
1. Your shoes don't fit properly.
2. Your shoes are not done up correctly.
How much have you worn the shoes you were wearing today?

Tim, fourth time.

Oh yeah, my brother gets this problem. His toe ends up all bruised, and I think some of it has gone black... It's his right toe though I think as he's a lefty. Maybe the shoes need a little wearing in? Or perhaps your foot shape isn't suited to the shoe you're wearing! I know some shoes are wider which are designed for people with flatter feet! This might cause some movement inside the shoe if you have a slightly narrower arch, as it has more room for people with a wider/flatter arch. Currently getting some insoles, and was told that my £95 Asics are good, but may need to be replaced for a different pair... Not because of the shape though, but because the foam/rubber around the arch area is strengthened in terms of density, and I apparently would do better with a neutral one.
There is so much more to shoes than what I realised before! Knowing really does make you think a little more before buying!

Thanks a ton Chad, I never thought about that aspect in shoes. I agree as you said there is a lot more about shoes.
As stated earlier these are Nike Googky, however, I do remember when I wear Puma Calibre Convertible spikes I don't have such problem nor I have it when I wear Asics Gel Advance 3 LE.
So I guess this has to do with Nike shoes not working out for me?
It's shame that I like Nike so much that I have all three models of them
Once again Chad I appreciate profusely for your post, I appreciate it.

So I emailed Ian Mason just for fun and the price for bespoke shoes is £375!!! :O That's insane!
After knowing that price I couldn't sleep!

Not far off the price of a pair of bespoke work shoes, so yes, that's reasonable!

Could be, I haven't spent anything more than £75 on a pair of shoes so excess of £300 did amuse me.
But then these are meant to last for your whole life too!
So putting things in perspective that's true.
Not relavent here but apparently Shoaib Akhtar used to carry five of them. Well he was an international superstar so...affordable for him :)

Might be worth testing that?
Only other thing I can think of - if you are netting on a tacky rubber surface and using shoes with a very aggressive tread and deep lugs, they might be providing you with too much grip and forcing your toe forward?

Yeah that is another possibility, try doing your laces really tight (not to restrict blood but tight enough) so that way the foot has no forward movement. Sometimes the mouth of the shoe is fairly big which means when to tie it up there is still room to move and it can be beneficial if you want your ankle/lower leg (shin) area to move about but not good for bowlers.
The way I bowl my front foot always slides after landing but because the shoe laces are done right the shoe moves with the foot rather than just the foot sliding and hitting the front of the shoe. One last thing is insole of the shoe, sometimes socks don't grip the insole and that causes sliding around as well. If you can take off your shoe without undoing the laces while using your other foot to hold the shoe down and pulling your leg up its not tight enough...
