The dates are 15th and 16th aug all day games ,lunch, tea , lite meal after , the club is stone in  in Kent  between tenterden and rye . Lovely picturesque ground and a good local pub after ! (and my workshop is 5 mins from the ground  :D) so if your club is interested in playing on the days mentioned please pm me and I will pass on your details

can i just ask where the games would be played as it sounds like a really great idea. a CBF all star team would be great!!!!!!

Yeah, I reckon I'd be up for that too.

I'd be keen for a cbf team

Post by: uknsaunders on November 06, 2012, 10:45:27 AM
as Buzz will no doubt tell you, we need people who are committed. The last CBF was a struggle as many people dropped out who said they would play and it was only saved by myself and Simdog doing a 450 mile round trip (in our eyes :-). It will require members to book time off work unless you are student. The date of the game would be Thursday 15th August

I'm trying not to put anybody off but please only say yes if you honestly believe you can manage it. I'll collect names and see where we go:-

uknsaunders
tommo256
Manormanic
ajmw89
Ciaran
Simmy (wicket keeper)
Matt W
FletcherUK
Roco
Tomtek
The Hosk
Tim2000s - maybe
Jimba101
Dan W
Soulman
Wilkie

I have family to visit in Kent so count me in 100% it's not that far for me anyway so I can make sure I'm available!

if you can tell me what you do - bat/bowl/quick/slow etc and the level you play at. That would be helpful.

RH top order slogger.  Occasional offspin/slow-medium induckers.  Fielding... Less said about that the better!

Usually bat 3-4, mid level TVCL (D3 until I stepped down to skipper the twos), can't bowl anymore, specialist slip.  :D

id have a feeling that this cricket comp will be with good teams so if we get a cbf 11 make sure its a dam lot better than last time

Bat tail end with a medium pace bowling! Put me down to play if you end up short as wouldn't want to take a very talented players spot

I'll be up for playing in the CBF team. Batting all-rounder Played Worcs D2 2nds last season, open in the shorter format of the game and usually bat mid-order in the 50over game. Bowl some RH Yardy Darts too which picks up wickets. Fielding, usually specialist close in fielder - don't have the best arm in the world but I'm i've got good reactions and read what the batsman's going to do.

Put me down as a probable!
A lot depends on where I am working unless I am still in my current contract!
But a probable as it would be easier for me to grab a Friday off.

Botheration. May be on holiday on the Friday but as the missus came back early for a Yoga course this year, should be able to pull off the same trick next year.... And if it's that close to Bluewater it's about 30 mins from home for me!

Spoken to Stone Skipper, Steve who's a top bloke and clearly loves his cricket. We are confirmed for Thursday 15th August. Game starts at 11am. It's an all day game. Things to note:-

1. Simmy - all day means lunch and tea and supper (with match fees charged).
2. It's a timed game but the team batting first will have a declaration forced on them if they bat 55 overs. In my experience even all day games never get that far.
3. Steve/Matt should be able to give us guidance on B&B's for those that need them
4. I'm not sure how true this is but Steve mentioned Matt might be willing to show some of us around his workshop - Matt to confirm!
5. Happy if forum sponsors want to bring some kit to sell. Cleared it with Steve.
6. Oppo are a mixture of decent cricketers and not so decent. They are all H4L'd out, as you would expect. Sounds very much like us, so it should be a good game!

Unfortunately mate you've got the wrong Stone, as bluewater is near where I live and Matt's place is a good 50 minute drive.

Does anyone have a postcode for the right Stone then?

Looks as though Simdog will be using the oven gloves behind the stumps!
But who will be chosen as Captain for the day?  ;)
Title: Re: Cricket week teams required
Post by: uknsaunders on November 09, 2012, 01:16:41 PM
corrected your post Simdog. Unless anybody has to book leave now or in the next 6 months I suggest we park this for the time being with the names above. My view is nearer the time we'll select 13/14 (if we still have that many) and share out the duties so 11 bat/11 bowl. It should also prevent late dropouts leaving us short. Get's everybody involved and the more forum members the better.

btw - I know some of the squad like a bat but do we have many bowlers? I know me, wilkie, ryan bowl slow filth but any seamers?

I'll be captain to ensure fair play. It's not a democracy after all lol

everyone knows English batsmen can't play spin. it was a simple piece of captaincy executed by two experienced pros who enjoyed working in tandem! Sideshow Bob bowled well up front to.

When we say spin, I think it only applied to Buzz's ringer bowling leggers. Mine occasionally hit something and Mr FC is the dreaded slow drifter. Left arm darts, rather than guile. Still good enough to wreck AOC and their pros using the gear test bats, from 90-1 to 170ao.

Title: Re: Cricket week teams required
Post by: uknsaunders on March 14, 2013, 07:02:20 PM
ok, I was going to leave it a bit longer but if booking leave/b&b's will start to become an issue then I'm happy to select a team asap. The guys who put there hands up initially are:-

nsaunders
tommo256
Manormanic
ajmw89
Ciaran
Simmy
Matt W
FletcherUK
Roco
Tomtek
Jimba101
Dan W
Soulman
Wilkie
Canners
Charlie15
Redders
Dean

I plan to select 11 from this lot, with the remaining on standby as reserves . The game is 11am Thursday 15th August and the cost will be at least £20, that's the price of lunch and tea. EDIT - checking food costs, seems like I've missed something off or the cost seems a bit high. I need to work out some details regarding additional costs, such as a CBF shirt & Match Balls. However, expect to pay £20+. Once I know the final amount, everyone will be required to pay in advance via paypal. The payment will be non-refundable.  If anybody from the above list CANNOT or has doubts about being able to play, please let me know asap before I pick an 11.
