Indeed, I'd suggest you're tapping it wrong.
Maybe buzz can sort you out ;P
-
I'll have a quick look through the Bob Woolmer book and see which technique he suggests
-
How/where/why would the bat slip whilst tapping at the crease?
Have you tried tapping your foot instead?

never thought of it like that. Thats where ive been going wrong! lol
-
I tap the bat just before the bowler releases the ball. Something that I feel counteracts my tendancy to do a front foot press
-
Good god, you are mental... I find willow on earth to be particularly slip free. What on earth do you do to yours? :D
-
Why would you want it grippy?!
I want it to be Teflon coated, so I can confidently slide my bat in when running.
-
why dont you get som 3m grip tape lol
-
glue some sand paper on the bottom of it
How do your run between wickets with a grippy toe and how does it slip is the bat too small for you?
-
Are you training indoors on roll out matting when your suffering with you bat slipping in your stance?
-
In USA 99% pitches are artificial , turf / concrete pitches. So the bat does slip if the mat has a tear. I once played on such a pitch where the mat had a patch and it was taped up in the area where you put your bat for a RH batsmen stance. Not sure if the bat grip will help, but atleast that is the issue.

You shouldn't be leaning on your bat anyway
This is the most ridiculous topic I have seen for a while and I can't believe people are actually replying with serious suggestions ???
Good luck with your grippy toes you bunch of nutters :)
-
obviously its a wrong stance

If you havent got anything constructive to say and think this is such a riduculous topic, I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself.

Yes I am fining this on the carpet type indoor matting. Bats with toe guards seem to be fine.
-
Noticed the last winter at indoor nets with one of my bats that had no toe guard on, I just left it and as soon as I played outside or on the rubbery proper indoor flooring there was no issue.
The last thing you want is a grippy toe as when you try to slide your bat in they grip and jar causing issues.

If you know the fix is a Toe Guard, and you realise basically the whole forum thinks this is a mad question, may I suggest using a Toe Guard?

Read the original post before you comment.

I did read it, and you basically realise its a stupid topic dont you?
Sho-glu or PVA glue roughed up would be your best bet, other than the obvious toe guard. Seeing as you know it doesnt happen with one it would make a lot more sense for you to just use one of them!

That is his point...

Wow - we're really nerdy!

this forum is a different gravy sometimes

Not sure if you can do anything about making the toe more grippy but are you leaning on the bat expecting a short-pitch delivery? or tired?
Anything you put on like shoe goo or glue would come off quickly...
