I bought my first one Super Premium 2 yrs ago when I had just returned to the game. Used it for a full season. But it was 2.12. Bought another one last year which was 2.8 and is much much better. It has been my match bat for the last 5 innings - averaging 68 with it.
The Premium with the pink grip is just for nets/ball machine. The Custom was purchased just recently - 2.6 and a fantastic middle. It is made at a different factory to the others I think. The binding on the handle is different.

The stickers are for my Gladiator. I bought the gladiator and KP from Talent cricket. The gladiator is 2.10 and a half and was a bit too heavy for me. I took the back stickers off to try and reduce the weight a bit. It didn't really work and looked messy so I bought some stickers to fix it up. I resorted to sanding off the toe guard and that has fixed the problem.

Nice collection, looks like you're missing a few brands though...
There are a half dozen or so other bats that have moved on - BDM, GM, Boom Boom, CA
I have a Blank Bat and a Cor 3 Premium on the way. I have had a Cor 3 before it was a dog - too heavy. The new one might be better.

Unbelievable bat. This my favourite Indian bat. It is only light 2lb 6 and has tiny 26mm edges but the ball just flies.
I'm really looking forward to hitting with the Blaster. It has much bigger edges is 2lb 10 and taps up so well. It will be ready  sometime in the next couple of months I hope.

I went through a very brief Pakistani phase. CA 10000, Boom Boom Signature, CA 12000 TRD, AS V10. This was before I discovered UK made bats. The TK bats in my collection that I have used - Thruxton SPS, Joker, Black Cat Shadow are just the Ducks Nuts. I still have a TK Blenheim and Talisman that are yet to face a ball.
The Rob Pack Calibre 6000 has not had much use but my first impression is that it's not up to the TK's

I'm not really excited by anything in their range at the moment. I did have a serious look at a Shane Watson Flare but it was too heavy. The Flare Original I have pictured just didn't work for me.

Bought from a friend for $150. He started back back after a long time away from the game and only lasted 2 games before retiring for good. The bat is a cracker. Explosive middle even if it is a Woodworm. I just bought a Hard Drive Black Label as well. It's still in the plastic. I borrowed one from a guy in my team - superb.

Title: Re: The Bat Room - Attempt #2
Post by: ogroupleader on February 18, 2013, 10:04:56 PM
The big difference between the 5000 and the Edition is that the edition has minimal/no concaving on the back. I'm pretty sure that the bat I have is a fake. I should have removed it from the photos. The toe is the wrong shape and the willow looks dirty in places. The profile is correct but I know the same ebay seller sold a fake e41 soon after this.

Some better pics of the Kookaburras. I really need to start working on the Rogue. The mallet sounds better off this bat than any of the others.

I used these today on the ball machine. The e41 1200 is the most expensive bat I own. They retail for about $730 over here. All 3 are fantastic bats. The e41 Scoop looks he biggest of the 3. It has the same size edges as the e41 1200 but has a much higher spine. It picks up like a feather. It is still classed as grade one but sells for about $440 over here making it the cheapest of the 3. The edge size means that it has a much larger sweetspot than the Elite which only has 35mm edges. But the response off the Elite is much better. It is a higher grade of willow and although the sweetspot is smaller than the scoop it is more explosive.
But the e41 1200. Oh my goodness. I can't wait to get this into action against a real ball. It is the heaviest of the 3 but the balance is so good. The middle is huge and the ball just rockets. My e41 1200 has a bit of concaving. I have seen others with very little concaving - really big bats.

The LE was purchased from Online Stockist for 150 pounds incl shipping to Australia. It is the biggest of the 3 SS bats. Massive spine and 38mm edges and weighs just under 2lb 8.
The KP Power was 109 pounds from Talent Cricket. Easily one of my best buys. I orginally ordered an SS Matrix from them which was on special for 109 and an MMi Super Premium. They were sold out of the Matrix and so they sent me a KP for the same price. The LE is an awesome bat but the KP has slightly better willow.

Played like a dog too. I ordered 2lb 8 and was sent 2lb 10.5ish. Picked up like 2.12. It was a plank. Terrible.

Long story short - Took the money but never delivered the goods. Ripped quite a few people off - some for a little, others for a lot.

That is a great deal on that bat. Also looks massive from the pictures. I also like the middle on the L&W bat now that I look at the profile. I actually had a L&W private bin bat that I sold because it was just way to light for me. However the middle was no where near the one that is on that bat.

Yeah the profile on the L &W Ultra's is huge. I think they were released after Gray Nic introduced the e41 range (I could be wrong). The big differnence is spine height. Neither of my e41's have a spine as large as the Laver.

I'm pretty sure they were released before the E41

Why do people buy vintage cars and keep them mint? For the love of it.

I am gutted to this day that the bat I scored my first ton with was stolen, with my kit, out of my garage when I was on holiday (A handpicked Newbery Mjolnir - before the SPS non-sense - when I was sponsored by them) - Oh and the ball I took 8-52 inc. a hattrick in a league game.

I know a player round here that has over 100 used bats in his garage from his first class/minor counties days. Never thrown a single one away.

A cricket bat is unlikely to appreciate in value, as is a vintage car.
But I appreciate that bats do have a sentimental value, I have a lovely gray nichs, that I would never part with

But,,this collection of stunning bats, appears hardly used?

100 bats in a garage??

Yep. Every bat he has ever used in his career.

REALLY good batsman too. I think the stats are he scored over 15000 FC/LA/Minor Counties runs so has been very, very busy in his time.

That only works out 150 runs per bat, that's the new standard set before I replace my stick then ;)

I must admit, to some serious bat lust, since joining this forum,
Gotta get an Aldred and maybe an ST bat, , ,
150 runs per bat should last me out my playing career!ha

The match bat this season has been the Thruxton SPS in 2.9. Hard to go past this bat. It will mark a start in the second half of the season which kicks off soon but if I don't score a 50 with it in the first outing then the Kudos will get a run.
If that fails then I will have probably picked up a new Affinity by then. Ha.
