Hi all, this is my second post so please be gentle and Matt sorry but this didn't generate any extra funds for you...........yet.
I have decided to dust off the old kit and resume playing after a 6 year break, problem being I no longer have any kit to dust. So the search begins and thankfully I stumbled across this great forum. So basically for the last couple of weeks I have been pouring over most of the post and had steadily been gravitating towards a H4L beauty. Well the stars must have aligned and low and behold a Tempo Grade 1, 2lbs 10 turned up for sale on our equivalent of EBay (Trademe in New Zealand). The previous owner had only had it for a month or so but felt it a touch light, I've seen the pics and it looks the business to me, I will post some once it arrives in a week.
Considering most top line GN, Kooks etc sell for $700-800 so I paid $250 delivered, that's about 140 in the Queens money.
Can't wait for it to turn up, the last bat I used was a GM Diamond which was a rocket and was repaired on numerous occasions but finally had to be retired like me. I have never actually had a hit with a modern day bat, they certainly have changed a fair bit over the last decade.
Good luck on the upcoming tests, should be a cake walk.

Matt makes great bats, your love it, the Tempo is a real monster of a bat and a good price
But be very careful, once you start buying H4L you will not be to stop. they are ADDICTIVE
Welcome to the forum

That sounds like a great buy mate. Keep us posted on how it goes!
-
That does sound a great deal for a bat that hasnt been out long, good on you.
-
Saw a couple of these at the forum net on Sunday and they do have a lot of wood in them, they seemed to go very well too, good luck with it mate.

One of those was mine I recall.
Mine is big, 3lb 2oz. There is a thread on the H4L page.
Only thing to consider is that they are bottom heavy.
Matt leave a spine running into the toe. Don't know why but I've had mine taken back a touch by Gary @ Choice. It improves the balance no end.
Mine is a gun and can't wait for the season to start.
You'll have fun!

I think it depends on the weight. Mine is a fraction under 2'12 and has a little concaving. The spine runs to the toe to help increase the length of the middle downwards. Removing it would slightly impact performance but as you've said improve pickup. A cheaper way would of been to add another grip or a counterbalance to the handle, again aiding pickup. Seems to be the Tempo's pickup benefits more than some bats from some weight near the top, not sure why could be the spine height.
-
just to add I picked up eddies on sunday and it had little or no concaving and was huge beast. I could see why he shaved some off the toe!

Yours has a really good balance. A really good stick.

Wonder if this stick was originally dbm8's?

I'm pretty sure that one went to america

The bat has arrived and it looks great, feels really nice off the mallet. I have my first game tomorrow for 6 years so here's hoping it gets some use, will let you know how it goes. 2lb 10 and picks up like a dream.

I think this came from the guy that tried to sell it on his 51st post...

Can you elaborate? Was their something shonky going on?
-
Nothing shonky mate, even if it really is this one: http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=22435.0. (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=22435.0.)
There's a rule here where you can't sell unless you've contributed in this forum with 50 quality posts. The idea is to weed out random passer-bys who jump on here just to sell and possibly deceive with non-delivery, etc. This lead to some attempting to race to 50 posts with short random posts. Jonathan was one of these and put his bat up for sale as soon as he made 50 posts (and has never made another post since). But no doubts to the authenticity of your bat so nothing to worry about. :)
-
Thanks for the info, I did buy it off Jonathan and he was great to deal with so all good from my point of view, I'll make sure I don't list it for sale until post #52 ;)..........although the likely hood of that happening is the same as Eng winning this test.
-
Best of luck in your comeback :) imagine a guy not playing for 6 years and then rockng up with a Tempo! Quality!
-
WOW, what a bat.
Just an update on how the bat went today, was thrown in to open, not even a throw down with the Tempo was offered, a few balls later and 6x4's and 4 x6's and 3 singles for 51. The couple I got out of the middle went like rockets, stunning bat I must say and certainly attracted plenty of attention, one of the boys in the team is looking for a new stick and he wants one of these.
Only problem I have is that I would prefer one a touch heavier so possibly over the winter months here in NZ I will contemplate another Tempo.
-
Well played, were you playing England?
be warned H4L's are addictive, now expecting number 15 due any moment
-
Christchurch, New Zealand.
You have 15 H4L bats? You have it bad if you do but I can see why.
-
was the bat the hellfire stickered as a Tempo at 2'10? If so, Matt will do you a massive genuine Tempo for an oz or 2 heavier. I mean seriously big, enough to scare children and animals. Top comeback as well! Wish I could bat that well after 6 days, let alone 6 years.
-
Just walking into bat with a Tempo can lift your confidence.
Using mine in the nets turns me into a right bully. My son, a previously confirmed #11, has turned into a decent#8 using a Tempo. he absolutely clobbers it where as before he tapped around.
I'm not surprised you scored quickly with that bat in hand.
When you nail it in the screws it absolutely flies.
Have you got a pic of the bat?

You might be right about it being a Hellfire, I was comparing the toe to the online pics and the spine does not go all the way down and it's very thin, I just assumed that the previous owner had it shaped that way.
If its not a Tempo then I'm very keen on getting an actual one, like you say they must be a little scary in real life.
I will post some pics and see if you guys can confirm its profile.

might need to take another look at the url for those images :)

I think this is a hellfire profile stickered as a tempo.

Hmm, the pics worked in preview, any idea why they aren't showing up now?

that's because you where logged into your account. When I searched the pic I get requested to sign in. You need to make the pics viewable by the general public. Remove the "s" from https as well.

Thanks, turned out to be more of an ipad issue.

Thanks, if this is the case I would love to get my hands on an actual Tempo, we will talk soon.
