So 2 weeks back, I was fielding very short mid-wicket and someone's pulled a long hop straight into the inside of my ankle(just above the ankle bone, on to the side of my shin). It swelled up quite a lot and I still have a lump about the same size as my ankle bone, just above it which is quite badly bruised still. I had all of the colours under the sun in my bruising below and around my ankle and it was extremely painful to walk.
Since then I have been waiting for the swelling to subside to figure out what to do. In the week and half since I did it, I struggled to walk and since then I have been using quite a good ankle support which I have for when I badly sprained my ankle.
Now I can walk on my ankle with the ankle support, but not 100% and when I do not wear it my ankle starts to hurt a fair bit. There is pain when I feel the lump and also there is tightness/pain when I lift my foot up or put it down on the inside of my ankle. So I just wanted some help in what this could actually be, such as bruising the tendons or?
On another note, I did tap this upto our bowler who took the catch.

Hopefully it's just bruising. You need an anti-inflammotry gel like ibuleve to rub in, along with some sort of bruise reducing cream, otherwise it will take ages for the bruise to go. If it gets any worse

Arnica is your friend
That's what I was thinking of, but couldn't remember the name. Arnica cream, and arnica tablets help reduce bruising. I think there's another one called Hypericum & Calendula cream (My mother is into all sorts of homeopathic remedies, being an osteopath and sports therapist!)

The bruising will go down mate. I instinctively threw my leg out to stop a ball off my own bowling a couple of seasons back - it had been smoked, and I undoubtedly saved a boundary - and it swelled up and bruised like you wouldn't believe. I missed a game and went to the doctor to check that the impact hadn't fractured or chipped the bone because it was incredibly painful and hindered my ability to walk a bit, but it was all clear. A daily icing, some pain killers/anti-inflammatory pills and emulgel saw the worst of it off. It continued to be tender even after the swelling went down and bruising went away, so don't get overly concerned if that's the case with you.

not nearly as much fun as the wrist injury threads...
