Post by: PedalsMcgrew on June 12, 2013, 08:07:46 AM
Did anyone see this?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/22867634 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/22867634)

He couldn't make himself more unpopular if he tried could he?

Theres probably some truth in it but is it just the papers trying to stir up ashes interest?

Apparently it's 'drink related'.................what an idiot. I guess they'll have to send him home......if they don't the next few months in this country are going to be extremely uncomfortable for him. Imagine what the Barmy Army are going to do to him.... Then again, Australia might decide to leave him here as further punishment!

Theres probably some truth in it but is it just the papers trying to stir up ashes interest?

I don't think they really need to do they? Warner is like manna from heaven for headline writers....

he tried to start a fight with Joe Root...

He should pick on someone his own size the big bully.

Isn't David Warner about 5ft 6, there aren't many players his own size  :D but seriously if he did tried to start a fight with anybody, he should be sent home and banned for a period of time. There is no place for fighting in cricket.

Where was he meant to have started a fight?

Agreed, if a fight was instigated by Warner he should be sent home and seriously reprimanded.

I'd much prefer fighting to some of the stuff they try to pass off as 'entertainment' at 20/20 matches.

maybe he should take up ice hockey - I was watching a fight and a game broke out... ;)

He's a thug on the field and off the field now. The only word you see coming out of his mouth when fielding is the f-word.

Least he does his homework. Might have detention now

Warner is at least trying to prove he has a character. Cricket needs more characters. Who can forget Damien Martyn suggesting to our own Jimmy B that punching Clarke might teach him a lesson. In the 80's punching somebody, in fact anybody, was a prerequisite for touring with England.

Even with the size difference, Warner is a solid unit whereas Root is a Stringbean. Still, should be steering  clear of clubs with the Ashes coming up.

Great line in the NZ vs Aus commentary.....

"Apparently he only just nicked the guy he was trying to hit so he's way out of form!"   :D :D

Warner is having a shocking time of it at the moment! Can't do anything right, on or off the field.

Apparently an advertisement has gone up around the ground showing Michael Clarke saying 'Alcohol, know your boundaries!'

Ironicy at its best!

it still amazes me that they are in the middle of a world competition at the elite level of cricket and Warner still feels the need to have a drink the day before a game! falling out with an englishman isn't the issue in my eyes, ok punching root is over the top but id be more shocked if they were being friendly.
After everything that has gone on before with the shambolic homework saga the aussies should be keeping their head down and working hard, instead hes making them look like complete idiots.

The day before a game? This supposedly happened on Saturday, following the match. Warner is a plank, anyway.

Warner is feral but will always keep his place in the side as he is one of Clarke's untouchables.

Lots of stories that Root was wearing a wig as a beard and warner pulled the beard down and hit him http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/international/australia/10114925/David-Warner-dropped-by-Australia-after-punching-Englands-Joe-Root-following-row-over-fake-beard-and-wig.html (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/international/australia/10114925/David-Warner-dropped-by-Australia-after-punching-Englands-Joe-Root-following-row-over-fake-beard-and-wig.html)

Amazing to think any professional cricketers would be out boozing in a walkabout in the middle of a tournament

Warner is in crap form recently and he has a shocking temperament.I believe he should be sent back home and cop a lengthy suspension, cricket australia needs to get their collective crap together.

Why would Ponting even consider it? Why would he put himself in a situation where he has to take on an average team at best that dont behave dont listen and certainly dont perform. Even if Ponting scores some runs he needs a team to back him up and this team certainly isnt the one.

Im sure hes much happier travelling the world. Scoring runs. Earning plaudits and picking up cash.

He has nothing to prove. The current team need to prove themselves not him.

Warner has been banned until the first ashes test, will miss the rest of the champions trophy and the ashes warm ups

this surely paves away for rogers to open the batting!! they cant select warner with no match practice before the 1st test

could be a blessing in disguise for the aussies

Because ponting is a winner and it sounds like everybody is writing Australia off
They are dangerous they have the pack mentality there playing classic warfare mind games and the dis harmony your seeing  I think will galvanise them.

The signs are there

I personally love David Warner! He's box office and a bloody good cricketer! Australia will shoot themselves in the foot if they get rid of him. Remember Warne and POnting had their problems! CA need to work with him not throw him out into the wilderness!

I'm with Nickauger, Warner is off form and it will come back, so far as punching Joe Root or trying to, I'd probably do the same if I'd had a few sherberts and some little kid was winding me up.

Difference is, Root was doiong nothing to 'wind' Warner up, that has been clarified and Wanrner has also admited that.

In regards to you doing it, well probably so but its the situation, would you do it has a professional international cricket in the headlines already? Probably not

I'm sure this sort of thing was said about the England team of the 90's. Look how far it got them!

Really? That's not the version of events being reported here - that Root was messing around with a wig and stuck it over his chin to imitate Hashim Amla. That doesn't excuse what Warner did at all, and he's a first class pillock for doing it, but he was clearly annoyed enough by this behaviour to take a swing.

If I reacted to some one being an idiot in a walkabout like that, id be knocked out most evenings I think. Reports are they were in different areas of the pub and Warner approached Root. He's obviously got some issues...
Title: Re: David Warner
Post by: Nickauger on June 13, 2013, 01:43:50 PM
THats the version of events that the Telegraph are reporting too! He's definitely in the wrong but if Root was taking the mickey out of Amla, and especially his beard then he could be in trouble too!

That part was omitted. I suppose the press are leaving out bits and pieces that make Warner look worse. If that were possible.
