With the vast array of knowledge that we have available on this forum, would it perhaps make sense to sticky a topic and and all those people who are coaches, or who are happy to provide coaching tips. This way, people wanting advice can ask for it directly, as opposed to setting up a topic and getting 100 different tips, which seems to be the norm. I propose that we add names, level, and area of expertise, so we can build up a CBF backroom staff. For example I would not dream of coaching bowling or psychology, but am very keen to coach batting or fielding. Would be a really good place to stick up any queries or problems with tecnique so that people can see and offer their help privately!
Nickauger (Nick Auger) - Level 2.5, Batting and Fielding

Hello - I am Buzz - I have written down my thoughts on batting in a book - concious to unconcious competence - and have coached a fair number of people to a greater or lesser extent - most have been happy with the help!
I have also been lucky enough to receive some of the best coaching around at Lords over the years and from other sources and have read relatively widely on batting ideas.
I wont be able to teach the dilscoop though - sorry ;)

Having read that & seen video footage of the Fattus Flourish, it's safe to say that you're the most qualified here by a country mile!

Contemplating doing the 'Coaching young persons and adults cricket course' but at £200 is it worth it?

yes.
it will be better value to your own cricket than, for example, buying a new bat. you won't regret it

I am doing the coaching young children course soon (been asked by the club as my lad in now in the under 9's), looking forward to it.....

Ok thanks for the advice. As I play and live in Cornwall it's the course is in the cricket centre there, but I'm at uni in Cheltenham and it's £40 there and back. Would be more like £300 with travel.

I help with our youth set up (u11 & 13) so it would be handy for that. Just as a student it costs a fair amount.

Hello lads,
I'm currently playing cricket in Canada and looking for some constructive criticism of my batting technique. I don't have access to any coaches in my area so it can be hard to gauge what I'm doing wrong...or right. If any coaches out there are interested in doing a bit of video assessment of my technique please let me know and I'll pm you the link to a video of me in the nets. The video is about 9mins long and I'm facing a bit of medium pace, spin and a sidearm.
P.s This video is NOT 9 min of me bashing half volleys around. I've included all the errors and silly bits so you can get a full view of how I bat.

Or a trigger movement ;)
is a trigger movement a good or a bad thing? I am supposing there are good and bad trigger movements. As a youngster I used to back away and the move forwards again. As I've got older and bowlers quicker, I haven't felt I had time for superfluous movements, however my trigger seems to be going forward now, sometimes too quickly which then leaves me wafting away from the pad if its anything other than straight. I tried 'kissing' the ball and leading with my head as I'd heard this was a good idea, 'move the head and the feet will follow' and this works well up to 60mph but still i feel i cant get my head over a ball more 8 or 9 inches from my starting point. Any ideas or just too catastrophic to even begin? My thanks if someone can advise please?😕😕Sorry if this is not the right place.

ECB Level 2 Certified Coach (the new course).
Over 12 years experience in managing & coaching junior cricket in total and have recently guided 2 youngsters through to becomming county wicket keepers for their age group.
With over 20 years experience in playing for premiership level clubs too I have quite an experience in the tactical game too.
Happy to help in any way I can

Alex, 20, ECB level 1, probably strongest coaching batting and spin bowling, can teach a bit of seam bowling and fielding as well. My weakest suit is coaching wicket keeping, and that is what I was examined on for my level 1. I am also a level two community sports leader. Does anyone have any tips for coaching keepers? I've been working with a couple of age groups at my club for about 3 or 4 years, and have seen a few of them make county or county development/district sides, although as I am level one I work with a more qualified and experienced coach who should take more of the credit.
I play for my university in the top south eastern division in BUCS, and float between the 1st and 2nd teams at my club due to inconsistency/ frisbee commitments.
-
Mohawks what uni do you play for? Think we may be in same league this year as we were relegated from the Southern Prem last year
-
I play for Sussex Leo, who do you play for?
-
Play for Brunel, we are playing you on 7th May. I won't be playing as I'm injured but may be down to watch.

How long are you out for?

Thats a shame mate. We had a pink ball t20 against Brighton College last night, which we won fairly comfortably, but took ages because we had to dry the ball before every delivery because it drizzled the whole way through. At the moment, I am powering through on ibuprofen, kinesio tape and cold spray for university ultimate nationals at the weekend, before settling back into just playing cricket to recover from my shin splints, but the physio said it might be a few months before I am fully fit.

I know it's away from this site, but in the interest of sharing ideas and information, I manage "Cricket Coaches Worldwide" which is a coaches group / forum on Linked In. We have over 2,500 coaches actively involved in discussions. With coaches ranging from new comers to cricket with basic questions and discussions, through to international coaches like John Buchanan and Darren Lehmann.
Its understandable if you don't want to offer people a portal outside of this site, however in the interest of sharing info I'm sure many people would find it useful.

Thanks Sam - I have signed up and will take a look

Anybody have any ideas on coaches in the Gloucestershire area ? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
-
What are you after them for? One to ones, club sessions?
-
To add to the database. I'm a Level 2 Coach, based in North Leicestershire. Pace bowling, batting technique and tactics are perhaps my strongest suits.
-
level 3 can do most, but mainly bowling, bio dynamics and tactics. Having said that most of its common sense not rocket science. Make sure your damn good at the basics before you add the window dressing.

Anyone use the icoachcricket website? Is it just me or is this the shittest and most pointless website on the planet? It looks like it was designed in the 1990s, and the content is utterly abject.

I am, and yes I do think it is pretty poor. The stuff for young kids just starting out has some use but beyond that you can find better stuff on YouTube

I found t he allstars videos really useful even if the cartoon was oddly confusing on occasion
