That does look awesome - but I think it looks really "square" (well rectangular) - actually it is a noticible that bats are losing some of their soft edges for a more aggresive functional look...
-
Looks a great bat!
I agree, I have noticed bats becoming more square and aggressive. I was watching somerset v waricshire last night and Keiswetter's M&H looked huge with very square edges. Not the typical M&H look

Flatter faces are ok, but ones that are completely flat (or close enough) still look ugly to me.
-
Looks amazing
On the greg chappel cricket website, it says "sweet spot - low, middle, high (seriously it's all 3)
-
I'm starting to come round to the flat faced bats. I think they look good, and play quite well.
But, do the boutique small brands have the ability to make and pressed these flat faced bats?
As I've only seen them come from the big manufacturers
-
Anyone have any ideas on the cost of this? I'm assuming the Aussie "mark up" is significant
-
$795.00 AUD on the Greg Chappell site.

Yes they can if they have full control over their product rather than just applying stickers to ready made bats of a certain grade.

whats with the huge cost ?
-
Welcome to Australia thats whats with the huge cost - this is why I buy bats from the sponsors on here - get a cracking bat for half the price of a top big named bat over here, including postage from the UK
-
it is a truely exceptional bat, but I wouldnt pay upwards of £400 on a bat ever.
-
are all bats price extremely high in AUS ? what would an original LE GM cost you ?
-
$675 for an Icon Original LE
-
wow that is a lot almost £100 more than what they cost in England
-
Aus retailers have not reflected pricing against a strong Aus $ so when Aus$ bought 50p the legend would be in pounds term 397 pounds.
Australia retailers are skimming the market banking on that most consumer are stupid in Australia
-
Shipping to Aus and the lack of VAT would mena that aussies would be mental to not buy from england?

Sweet, so which of the forum sponsors can offer me this currently?

Mate just got a new Laver and its face was flat as a pancake.
I know for a fact they can do it for you.
-
Personally I really like the flat faced bats. The thinking behind it is that more willow is on contact With the ball on impact thus increasing power and performance. I do find that you really need to make sure i
You knock the bat in espicially the edges as there is less give.
A lot of companies, GN, GM, Salix have flat faced bats in the majority of the range.

Aldred offer flat faced bats, and very good ones at that.

You're kidding yourself if you think the retailers are making any more margin on the equipment, the manufacturers yesn retailers no. The legends are as good as you get though, I am yet to see anything that compares.

I 100% Agree - Got my BB L.E (slightly used) for $320 including postage. Cracking stick and at an incredibly good price.

I remember when I first went on holiday to Oz, planned on getting some of their gear that is only available in Oz/NZ. Lets just say the prices changed my mind - People down under do well from this forum, in fact we all do to be fair but them especially. Saves a lot of dollar!
-
Was planning on getting some GN softs whilst over there in the winter, the softs that are only available in Aus, really like the look of them, but the prices will be ridiculous compared to over here
-
I was the same. Quite fancied the legend softs a few years back... wasn't gonna' happen!

B3Cricket can ship a top of the range custom to austrailia for less than you can buy a mid range bat over there.

That's probably why more than 50% of there bats go to aus!

Really? Looked pretty expensive to me when I was enquiring. £320 plus £30 postage is a fair bit more than a mid range Aussie bat.
-
700 aus for a top of the range bat

Welcome to Australia!
We're over charged for just about everything here, its been in the news of late. Dubbed the 'Australia Tax'.
Surely just the shipping alone couldn't justify such a price up on the equipment? Its been found that were even being charged waaayyy more, even for stuff that isn't actually shipped over! E.g. downloadable content.
