Title: Millichamp and Hall Sale
Post by: wayward_hayward on August 15, 2013, 03:00:09 PM
Looking at the Millichamp and Hall sale, I'm tempted by the Original gloves and pads. Had a search around on the forum and couldn't find much.

Anyone recommend them?

Very very comfy gloves, great quality too. Not my ideal style of glove though so quality wise yes, styling no! Link to the sale please?

I think I will get a pair of the gloves for sure, it's just cricket also rated this season's T3's gloves very highly (same design as the originals). Not 100% sure on the pads it at the prices you can't go wrong.

Enjoy a few drinks first :D if you have a spare moment, give us the low down on both gloves and pads, that would be brilliant.

trying so hard not to buy some of those original gloves, they look lovely

just tried them on, feel great, the pads only have the tan leather on the tip of the straps, but feel good. The gloves have a great feel, will do something a bit more proactive later.

I also want to purchase more of them!!!

I gave in, tried to order the gloves, but wouldn't let me enter my payment details, probably a sign that I really don't need anymore and cant afford any, still a bit gutted though

Would be nice to get a M&H. But their policy on international orders is mighty confusing. Firstly they say "international postage charges are offset by the value of the VAT payment for countries where VAT is non-chargeable" - whatever that means... Then they give you a postage rate of £30.00 to Australia, as an example. You add a bat to their cart and postage becomes £60.00. WTF!!! ???

Post by: cricketbadger on August 16, 2013, 10:33:48 AM
postage for a pair of gloves was £5, then I added a pair of inners, and it went up to £8, not sure how you need a bigger package for a pair of inners

I've taken a daring plunge - a 2.9 original and some Alpha pads and gloves - at those prices it'd be madness not too (£160 for a G1 M&H bat???? Don't mind if I do....)

It's G1 Tim , G2 is priced at 150 still. I was hoping for G2 to go down in conjunction with price reduction on the G1.

At the moment I play for North Perrott mate, although commuting is a nightmare, and I've been training a bit with Taunton this last couple weeks. Who do you play for mate?

Kilve - we played your two a few weeks ago. Love North Perrot's ground, wish I could bat on that track every week :-)

Just seen the scorecard - you played!!

Yes indeed mate, not our finest performance! Still don't reckon I was caught at square leg, adamant it hit the ground lol. Did you bat, and what number were you?

Ha ha - I remember you standing at slip giving a fair amount of banter!

You definitely were caught - the guy who caught you is as honest as they come.

I didn't bat, I normally bat at 5-6 and bowl quick offspin but wasn't needed at all that day ;)

I took 3-27 off 12 there last year.

Yeah I know I was mate really lol, just couldn't believe I hit it there lol. Yeah I do enjoy a bit of banter, I like to think I give it out fairly, definitely don't get personal, and throttle back if I see it ruining peoples days lol. I love having a bit of a laugh with the batters lol.

Great stuff. One of our opener's has the original pads and gloves and absolutely loves them. I tried the gloves on and they felt like slippers - so comfy, and unusually for sausage-style gloves were flexible straight away.

There is also some good prices on that list, may not be up to date (ignore 2012 part)

I'm gutted, got my hopes up. I've been after some of their distinction pads but without forking out big big money :(

My gear arrived this morning which is prompt to say the least. The softs are beautiful and I am particularly impressed by the pads which are contoured and wrap nicely around the leg. The bat has 7 evenly spaced ruler straight grains that continue through the toe. Pictures to follow.....

Enough of that! We all know that an expensive bat makes you a better player  ;)

Probably, I'm no expert but possibly one takes longer to make or more difficult techniques to make it.

Is one of them made from a normal cleft and one an oversized cleft by the way??

Its just the amplus and distinctions that you can buy at the moment with oversized clefts.the original and harlequin are very similar shapes ive had both.harlequin possibly slightly higher middle
