Title: Puma 2014
Post by: VKS on September 12, 2013, 03:57:02 PM
We had a chance to see the new 2014 range from Puma today and were very impressed.

The new bats include one without any concave to the back, which gives the bat a very balanced feel and with the thick edges, a very intimidating look too. The new stickers as you would expect from Puma are in chrome and use some new colours not seen before on any of their previous ranges. One thing in paticular we liked, was that the top model in the bats comes with white stickers - just so that everyone can see from a distance that you have the best one!

Pads and gloves all have new styling and offer great protection at some very afforable price points. Our favourite is the new top of the range wicket keeping glove which is an all black design that looks really stylish.

Overall a smart looking range with Puma due to release images in October.

ahhh fair enough something to look forward too then, are the pads still following there current theme or are they heading back to the traditional look? cant see them going traditional  ???
Title: Re: Puma 2014
Post by: VKS on September 12, 2013, 06:21:29 PM
Actually they have one paticular pad that has a traditional design but the knee section has a totally modern twist that looks really cool. Overall, its moving towards the traditional look, which is something Puma have never done before.

The materials used to make the pads etc are the latest and this basically means top levels of protection with amazing comfort. As you can tell, we were impressed!

They will continue with the same factory set up used since they started. The Puma softs are up there with the best in terms of quality, comfort and protection so why change I guess!

Are you a Puma user yourself?

Not really per se, recently a karbon 5000 was passed through my hands. I had heard of some changes happening within Puma and was trying to see to what extent the changes were if any.
Just curious :)

We are expecting some official images and spec details from Puma late next week and with their consent will upload some details here asap. We did take some photos when they came into see us a few weeks back, but these were for our own reference.

Chromium and platinum,

Chromium looks a good shape. No 6000 bats though, and the gloves/pads are only high spec in platinum and mid/low spec in chromium.

Don't see this white/alive stickered bat I've seen sneak peaked on there?

We wouldn't carry something as heavy as that, as part of our usual stocks on a model from Puma (other brands/models we certainly do). However if thats something that you specifically want then we can certainly speak to them and see if they have something in that weight range that is readily available.

What's the heaviest you stock?

And do you hand pick?

From Puma it would be around 2.11 at the max. We don't actually visit Puma when we get our supplies of bats, but we are very specific in what we want and expect. If anything is not up to our expectations then it goes back, but thankfully then doesn't happen too often as they do look after us. We have a very large range of bats on display in store and people travel to us from afar expecting to see the best...we therefore have to deliver!

Try a pair on and I think you'll be impressed, they use the best HD inserts which makes the pads both light and flexible.

True...Puma pads look uncomfortable but they are one of the best around, although I have found that shorter batsmen normally struggle in them more than the normal shaped pads
