Count me in for this!

Missed out on the October one and it looked like fun. Also I buy quite a bit of small stuff from you over the phone, it would be cool to see you guys and your place in person.

Working on a date for this.

Looking at the very tail end of Jan, possibly the Saturday 1st Feb, but don't want to disrupt the Choice/Vulcan February event, so will wait for Dean to confirm things.

If Paul can get decent numbers on a weekday evening then we may consider that, ideally I want a Saturday though.

Saturday would be easier for people like me who would be travelling up from South London :)

Have scheduled this for February 8th, a Saturday.

Let me know if you can make it. Similar format to last time I guess, it seemed to work well.

www.custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=26891.0 (http://www.custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=26891.0)

Will try to line up a few more fun things like I did in October.

To confirm, there will be a similar spread to last time in terms of beers (sugary soft drinks for Simdog) and a cricket tea supplemented by plenty of cakes made by my other half, they seemed to go down well last time.

Similar format to last time i guess. Turn up around 11ish (or before, we will be open at 9am, and i am happy to collect anyone from Peterborough train station) and have a natter etc, the net is there for anyone to use as and when they wish throughout the day. The shop is there to browse and there will be in store offers/discounts along similar lines to last time. The rest i guess is up to who/what i can organise. If Stretton Fox George can come then he will no doubt bring his bag of goodies for anyone who hasn't had a go with his guards, Ryan can talk to anyone about his products which are available in the batmakers shed. I can probably organise someone from Hunts to do a similar Q&A session to last time, i guess it depends on how many new/different faces we get compared to last time.

This event is all about the people there, rather than solely about a net and some bats we want to sell. If anyone on the forum wishes to attend and bring/talk about their product in a similar capacity to the way George did, they are more than welcome.

Obviously the GM Test bats are available, i'm working on a few other cool bits and bobs, but nothing is confirmed yet.

Just over a week to go before our event.

We are furiously working to arrange a few more surprises for you all :)

Should be fine to arrange a Q&A with a bat-maker from Hunts again, but i just want to gauge opinion on this, many attendees this time will have attended our last event and met Matt from Hunts, thus rendering a repeat performance not necessary, thoughts?
Title: Re: Vitas Cricket Forum Event - February
Post by: 19reading87 on January 31, 2014, 04:57:53 PM
It depends really mate. Unless another bat maker comes as he may have a different view and opinion etc...

Is it cake?
Title: Re: Vitas Cricket Forum Event - February
Post by: Vitas Cricket on January 31, 2014, 08:56:25 PM
Is it cake?

Cake should not be a surprise, anywhere I go will need to have cake.

To be clear. There will be cake.

Cake.

Hunts wise, Matt is very good at the presentation and Q&A side of things as well as being a great batmaker, would Uncle Tony want to do the same? I'm not sure, but I will find out. Maybe we'll see if Matt fancies popping by, if there is appetite for something similar to last time he can do it, if not then he will mill about for a while and answer any questions individually.

I'm not sure Hunts is geared up for a visit from 20-30 CBF-ers foaming at the mouth. I would like to give more of an insight into the world of Hunts, so I will perhaps do a photo or video diary type post with a factory tour during the course of my next 2 or 3 visits in the coming fortnight or so.

George from Stretton Fox has again confirmed he will be at our event with his box of tricks, ever the passionate customer service perfectionist though, he has a fitting in the morning but will be over to us early afternoon.

Cake.

Jakeus,

I have an idea - we should have stickers that we can write our forum names on, so everyone one knows who each other is (and you can pick out the ones you wish to avoid). It will be like a speed-dating night!

See to that would you Jake - I'm sure you have nothing else to do!

How about cutting and pasting a definitive list of attendees for Jake?

Anyone who is getting the train please contact me tonight to arrange a pickup. I haven't had any contact regarding this yet so i'll assume you are all driving. :)

If driving, enter 'Dodson Way' into the Sat Nav as well as the postcode or you may get taken to a different business park.

These are waiting for you all.....

Hi Jake
Just to let you know that Cameron and I won't be able to make it. We've been offered an impromptu not and coaching session at Lords this afternoon.
It would be rude to say no!
I'll look forward to the next meet at your shop.

Have a great afternoon. Matt.

I have some pics which I will post throughout the evening - there were also some very in-depth video reviews made by our celebrity guest.

We learnt many things today:

Redders likes it long and full, and doesn't like it up him
Nick Saunder's 'bad back' prevents him from prolonged spells of feeding the bowling machine
Wilkie is entering into a civil partnership with his Dynadrive
'Nantie' Haywood can't use anything other than GM - if he does, his hands will melt.
Dean Vulcan is not the batting messiah - he's a very naughty boy!
Ryan likes to take Jake 'up the mezzanine!'
Jake does indeed look miserable, but is a delightful lad. He rejoices in the nickname Eeyore - but not because of his sad face.
Bloody students eat all the doughnuts!
Fattus's batting is - like his coitus - a brief, but beautiful thing.

In fact, only one question remains...............................

...........................................................come on boys - who left the floater?

Hey guys thanks to all of you for a great day. A big thanks to Jake & Robin for hosting the event. Thanks to Fattus for driving and providing good company and conversation.

Here are a few pics of some kit bought today, would be rude not to help line the Jake/Robin retirement fund lol

Firstly bought the new Ton Gladiator duffle bag, this bag is amazing for £40, 2 bats pockets, sturdy build and excellent quality heavy duty straps. Holds all my batting gear, keeping gear, 2 bats, helmet and still has space for clothes and spikes.

Second is some TON heritage pads to match my Bag and also TON gloves and bat. Very nice and great value for money.

GM 808 batting gloves, just liked these this year and will match my GM Kit

Finally is a GN powerbow Generation X Strike model. I saw this when I was at Vitas late last year and for the price just had to have this bat. Jake held it for me until today. 2.10 and for a low middle bat has a very good pick up, lovely grains for what I assume is a G4 bat and lovely ping. also has a huge spine and offset edges which although doesn't really wow or bother me is a nice touch on a low end bat.Overall very pleased and a nice addition to the collection.

Even though I was up from 4.45 and didn't get in till half 10. It was probably one of the best forum meets I've been to.
The Vitas set up is exceptional, bats and kit on choice also very very good!
I also fell in love with the Dynadrive in the place it hit the forums eyes, so I thank you for that also!

Thanks to Jake and Robin again like everybody has said for being great hosts.
I will definitely try and make another one!
