Watching the India vs WI test match start
Video showing Dhoni getting out of the bus with two Spartan bats
That will be a big move for spartan

Spartan really seem to be going all out in terms of the calibre of players they contract to endorse their equipment, its hard to see them making much of a profit considering the amount it would cost to sponsor Clarke, Gayle and now presumably Dhoni.
-
Wow. are these actually his bats or just a team-mate's?
-
What keeping gear is he currently using?
-
I hope that he has moved to Spartan, would be great to see him use their stuff. Clarkey, Gayle, Bravo and now Dhoni. $$$$$$$
-
Do they still sponsor Bravo?
-
Bravo is currently batting with a spartan bat.
Dhoni still has his ss camo gloves, could be on a one off sponsorship as he did with ton on his bat for one game vs Australia?
-
Or Spartan just gave him a few quid to carry the bats from the bus.

They are strategically held to show the face of the bat. Coincidence? Probably.
-
I'm most likely to agree it may be a one-off game use. I'm not aware of any other Indian player using Spartan bats (maybe ST has just signed with them? ;)) and they have his preferred colour grips on.
I wouldn't think he would sign long term with anyone as it would surely affect his earning potential from other endorsements, wouldn't it?
-
And wouldn't it be all over Spartan's social media?
They herald the opening of proverbial envelopes.
-
I hope they don't do a Woodworm....
-
Dean Jones has tweeted that Dhoni has signed for Spartan.
Kunal Sharma retweeted it to confirm.
Big $$$ for MS!
-
Think mr dhoni was jealous of Kohli earning more than him.
-
They would want to start selling more bats to keep going
-
I have confirmed with Kunal Bhai and there will be new MS Dhoni range
-

Want, or need to?
-
Dude just retweeted something about dhoni being a spartan brand ambassador
-
Do they plan to make a range for every player they sign, Clarke, Gayle, Prior, Dhoni.....?

Do they plan to make a range for every player they sign, Clarke, Gayle, Prior, Dhoni.....?
Got to be easier than coming up with a new name for every bat

looks like it

looks like it
Exciting times for Spartan...they now have some of the worlds best players on their team and across the various continents, so its a smart marketing move.
-
Has to be a pricey acquisition for spartan, they must be spending some serious money on him, Gayle and Clarke
-
Wow!!! Thats a big move for Spartan signing Dhoni! That is sure to create a Boom! The ones Dhoni is carrying look like the MC range to me..

yes agree with that but problem will be for retailers, to stock every range
-

Absolutely right, and therefore from my perspective its probably best not to stock the range at all.
I don't want to stock 5 different ranges based on a variety of players, which then have different grades in each one. We could end up with 20 different bats and an assortment of 40 different pads and gloves.
Seriously I don't feel a range should ever be based on a player. Last year Gray Nicolls had the Strauss edition bats only for him to surprise even them and announce his retirement...
-
We stock the Matt Prior and Chris Gayle ranges, with a little bit of Michael Clarke.
Unless the Dhoni bats are an exceptional shape i doubt we will stock much of it.
-
Another big pick up by Spartan. So they now have Dhoni, Clarke, Prior, Gayle, Viv, and Mitchell Johnson?
That's a lot of different models. Of them all I like the Viv range.
Any idea on the timescale when the Dhoni range will appear?

...plus Darren Bravo with his pink Spartan gear and rumour on the forum is De Villiers as well.
I like that players get their own range, but I accept it's a nightmare for sellers
-
Don't forget Marcus North... ???

Bravo as well? Not seen his stuff yet.
With AB things will certainly get crowded, but he's certainly a popular player and gives them a star from South Africa to add to their list.
Out of interest are Spartan a wealthy company, or are they taking a huge risk like woodworm with all these big name sponsorships?

Spartan are a wealthy outfit with alot of money in India and a very successful sports business in Australia that caters for a number of sports. I'm sure they have a sound business plan for the years ahead, but with all these high profile names on board they will need to see their products being stocked by a big network of outlets quickly!
Maybe they feel that will all these names now signed up, the retailers will have no choice but to stock the brand....
-
Just did a search and found the MD's twitter account - pics of Bravo's gear and it appears Gayle has a bat with updated stickers coming out, or is at least promoting one
-
I see Dhoni is only using a Spartan bat but still BAS gloves. Wonder if he'll end up using the full range (including keeping gear)?
-
Spartan's strategy is definitely not well thought out...unless they plan to limit the number of International players using their bats.
TON have done something similar which I don't understand. Most of the players sponsored by TON have their own personal brand of TON bats. Players like Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma etc. These bats are not available for purchase. What is the point of having these models and names then?

His bat is called the MSD-7

We will have the Rohit Sharma range in stock very soon… the "RO 45" so watch this space!

He's just signed for Adidas hasn't he? Must be a nightmare for the retailers keeping up with the chopping and changing players bats.
-
maybe he just used the adidas bat for that test because of Sachin?
-
I have just spoken to SS and yes Rohit Sharma has signed for Adidas. Well that ends out plans for the RO45 range!
-
I would've thought that he would be contractually obliged to use their entire range of kit rather than just their bats, as it would represent a conflict of interest if he mixes and matches his kit. That being said, Dhoni is a bigger brand than Spartan anyway, for the exposure it may be in Spartan's interest to allow him some freedom.
