Absolutely right, and therefore from my perspective its probably best not to stock the range at all.

I don't want to stock 5 different ranges based on a variety of players, which then have different grades in each one. We could end up with 20 different bats and an assortment of 40 different pads and gloves.

Seriously I don't feel a range should ever be based on a player. Last year Gray Nicolls had the Strauss edition bats only for him to surprise even them and announce his retirement...

...plus Darren Bravo with his pink Spartan gear and rumour on the forum is De Villiers as well.

I like that players get their own range, but I accept it's a nightmare for sellers

Bravo as well? Not seen his stuff yet.

With AB things will certainly get crowded, but he's certainly a popular player and gives them a star from South Africa to add to their list.

Out of interest are Spartan a wealthy company, or are they taking a huge risk like woodworm with all these big name sponsorships?

Spartan are a wealthy outfit with alot of money in India and a very successful sports business in Australia that caters for a number of sports. I'm sure they have a sound business plan for the years ahead, but with all these high profile names on board they will need to see their products being stocked by a big network of outlets quickly!

Maybe they feel that will all these names now signed up, the retailers will have no choice but to stock the brand....

Just did a search and found the MD's twitter account - pics of Bravo's gear and it appears Gayle has a bat with updated stickers coming out, or is at least promoting one

I see Dhoni is only using a Spartan bat but still BAS gloves. Wonder if he'll end up using the full range (including keeping gear)?

Spartan's strategy is definitely not well thought out...unless they plan to limit the number of International players using their bats.

TON have done something similar which I don't understand. Most of the players sponsored by TON have their own personal brand of TON bats. Players like Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma etc. These bats are not available for purchase. What is the point of having these models and names then?

He's just signed for Adidas hasn't he? Must be a nightmare for the retailers keeping up with the chopping and changing players bats.

I would've thought that he would be contractually obliged to use their entire range of kit rather than just their bats, as it would represent a conflict of interest if he mixes and matches his kit. That being said, Dhoni is a bigger brand than Spartan anyway, for the exposure it may be in Spartan's interest to allow him some freedom.
