...I love everything about them. It's been a while since I've seen them and clearly forgot how good they are! I'm secretly hoping that we only sell two of these, so I can keep the third for myself!! :D

Haha!
I have been looking at these for the past three days.
Please don't sell all of then I would love to have a play around with in the 5th.
Are these going for £325? What weight are these? The first one looks lush, the last one is a grain lover wet dream!
-
Yep, £325 each, which is a real bargain in my opinion. I've seen £500 bats that have impressed me a lot less than these...
One is 2.8 and the other two are 2.10...

I might be able to help you have a hit on the 5 if all ok after my surgery I won't be netting but agreed to come and watch so if you want to try a really nice affinity I am the man to let you have a go with it :D
-
They look awesome Paul. Which one is the 2.8?

Another nice brand that don't do man sized blades!!! ;)
-
They do the heavier weights as iv got a few but you'll generally find the 2.12-13 dont go so well in a retail environment as everyone is usually after a 2.7/8/9!

The Affinity you posted in the other thread is that the standard Ayrtek version or did you modify it. Really like the no concaving.
-
Have you got any profile shots of these beauties? Any news on the Phantom - even a basic idea of who/player style it's aimed at?
-
any side profile pics please

Sorry for lack of updates to the thread - I've had my hands full with some massive Aero and Gray-Nicolls deliveries this afternoon!
We will be shooting a video review of these Carbines on Sunday, which will answer all the questions on here and more. I would recommend you guys check that out if you're interested in finding out more about the Carbine. I don't actually know which one the 2.8 is, to be honest, but that's the one I want, so maybe I shouldn't say even if I did!! :D
-
The bats that Affinity are rolling out are seriously tempting.......
-
Can't wait to see the review. These bats look awesome! :)
-
I do have a 2'12 Carbine which needs knocking in over Winter so Simon has been good enough to lend my his (fully knocked and played in) Carbine which weighs 2'9 for a little net last Thursday.
And I got to say, it went like a cannon! And it felt effortless too. When I started playing exspansive shots, the balls were seriously travelling so these are very responsive bats! :D
-
We shot the Carbine video this afternoon and focused mainly on the 2.8 one in that. Should be up on our channel within the next three days...
-
Hopefully this will give you guys a much better idea on these lovely bats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y16VnmcdXMY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y16VnmcdXMY)

It's long overdue for a true bat manufacturer, to be passionate,,critical,,innovative ,,and above all, he actually gives a sh#t about what he produces.
The way these bats both look, and more importantly perform,,has to be seen to be believed
My faith in pod shapers has been well and truly restored.
I'm looking forward to destroying bowling attacks next season with my Affinity Spectre,,and hopefully my son and his Affinity Carbine,(looks wayyyyy too good to use!) will perform for Somerset
Thank you Marcus

Does Marcus make these Bats 100 per cent ????

Here we go again....

Does Marcus make these Bats 100 per cent ????
From what I know mate yes he does, I believe he learnt under SAF but has since gone on to better things. I personally have never met him or used his bats but a lot of people I have spoke to speak very highly of him.
-
I think the bats look lovely and the one I saw was used to make a solid century. I also think that if I was going to pay £300+ for a bat I would choose one made my someone who had more experience in bat making than a couple of years. That is a personal choice, I do not question the ability of Affinity, just that it's a big outlay on an undoubtedly well marketed product.
-
Here we go again....
It a question because i seriously don't know and as somebody is saying there faith in a podshaver is there nobody has actually said he makes from cleft???
Either way does it matter???
-
From what I understand he does make bats from scratch. He doesn't have a press, but I recall reading that he does press his own bats using someone else's press.

What I love (and hate) on the forum is the vast difference in both people and opinions.
We have the know it alls that wish to put down other products. We have the followers who instantly buy the new bats that are in trend. Then you have the guys who do a little research, talk to the bat maker and then buy a bat based on talking to the guy.
Before I make my main point, those questioning Affinity need only look at who teamed up with them? Clearly Tomtek isnt going to have his brand name associated with any old bat maker. A guy who has all the contacts in the trade, uses bats made by who?
Now onto Marcus. Having dealt with him, he is one of the few batmakers I would trust to give me the bat that suits my game. He spends time talking to you to get an understanding of what you are looking for, and he makes a bat to suit how you play, not how you would like to play. If you talk to Marcus you soon realise this is a lot more than just a business, but its a passion for him. He really does live and breath the brand. A guy who I would bet by bottom dollar would refuse to let a bat leave him unless he was completely satisfied with it. Come to think of it, has anyone seen a real negative review of an Affinity bat?
Why is it, rather than celebrate guys like Marcus going the extra mile and creating a brand in the market with its own identity, people who cant be bothered to get their lazy bottom off their PC chair wish to criticise?
I should add, this rant is not aimed at this thread, but I have read a variety of posts mentioning Affinity and this is the cumulative reaction!

If that is aimed at me so be it where is the criticism?????
I see somebody talking about Podshavers in the traditional sense and i thought i would ask a question...

BACK ON TOPIC PAUL great looking bats i'm sure they will all sell

I'd just go back to the batoff we did that Marcus' first bat featured in. It won. He's an excellent batmaker, and I believe has also started planting willow to go truly set to blade. He certainly goes from raw cleft to complete bat now.

The only ho hum review I have seen of affinity bats was by a English female cricketer who was comparing 3 different brands. I can't remember the article and have been trying to find it ever since. I love them. I use high middle bats cause of the pitches in Perth but I'm still going to get a spectre.

Pro cricket,,,,is there a reason you appear slightly negative, in regard to Marcus/Affinity?
I waited a year,,,read every review etc,,,talked to both Paul at ijc,,and guys who put their money where their mouths are,,and bought an Affinity bat...
And found not one single negative comment,,either regarding Marcus or his products
-

Not negative just honest you made this claim and i asked a question plain and simple.
Shoulders and toe never lie you talked about a true batmaker i asked a question plain and simple.
I respect many people who put there money where there mouth is i do with my purchases too.
In truth this is a cricket forum if your going to big a product up that is not well known expect questions.
-
My description of Affinity as pod shavers/shaper,,is based on the fact,,while discussing bats with Marcus, he took it upon himself to re shape a bat I'd brought along to show him...totally transforming the pick up and balance..
And in turn,,my appreciation of anyone skilled enough to attempt to create genuine decent bats.
I suppose without 'facts' it's easy to propagate a feeling of mistrust?
Why don't you pay Affinity a visit?
-
No feeling of mistrust it was a question a simple question.
I guess i could pay them a visit no worries but only venture down South a few times of year so might do.
As for negativity i have talked a few times with Marcus all be it a while ago i know the company he keeps in terms of cricket contacts so why would i doubt him i doubt more people who talk about what he offers i think that's where the confusion lies.
Alot is being asked when i only asked a question maybe it a translation issue but where is my negativity.
I can remember a old Chase thread from a few years ago the same question was asked then....

I have had three top end bats from Marcus now and they are spot on my persona was based on the hades profile and bang Marcus derlived me enough stunning bats his passion for his bats are great I sure he loves each one you only got to speak to him to know how passionate he is and I think affinity are going on to be a big player in the cricket market very soon
