Hi Guys,
Few days back received this Bat which i ordered directly from CA Factory.
Specs:
Weight : 2.8
Edges: around 37-38mm
Pick up: light
concaving : Medium
Grains: Perfect grains around 8
Ping: Good
Balance: Perfect
The bat looks good in all departments, the only disappointing thing to me is concaving, fair amount of concaving on this one.
Overall quite pleased with the bat and great service from CA. Just started knocking it with mallet and it sounds great. Probably will do nets by this weekend with this and will update on the performance.
All questions and criticism welcome.

Thank you so much.

Thanks Chad !!

Bat looks good! :D
Hope you dont mind me asking. how much was the cost all in inclusive of postage? ;)
-
They are very very straight grains on that bat !
Good luck with it.
-
Thanks Chad !!
No problem, looks a lovely piece of willow, almost perfect in aesthetics. (I like 8-12 grains) I agree about the concaving, but not many 2.8 bats have 39mm edges with minimal concaving! Since I use a 2.11, concaving is not normally issue. :D Are you happy about the response and pick up though? Those are probably the two most important things, if it is pressed well, then the concaving shouldn't be too much of an issue!

One of the best bats i've ever owned was con caved to buggery!
It also had 9 grains so I have to agree on the 8-12 statement (you don't want too many do you!)
-
Looks decent although the finishing looks rushed.
-
Looks lovely, clean straight grains and no heartwood. Personally prefer the more garish green livery tho. How does it compare size wise against a different 2-8 in your collection?

Dream pick up, balance no lesser than pro's bats, response off the mallet is good but not great at the moment. Pressing seems to be good.

One of my best bat was SS Matrix ton which was heavily concaved but went like a rocket. Regarding grains i prefer 10 to 12.

Finishing is top notch, poor quality pics not doing the justice.

This is my first CA bat in 2.8 weight, I have 5 more CA bats, all in 2.10 range and are bigger bats. considering 2.8 this is also quite decent size bat.

Doesn't look top notch in this one

Also. Looks very dry.
-
Beautiful bat!!
I have noticed that the asian bats with huge edges in lighter weight are usually very dry looking...the same was the case with my SS..I guessed that it could be due to low moisture content in the wood which makes it so light for the size..isnt that the case?

And lightweight handles......

Have to agree with Ryan mate, finishing does look ropey at best. But to be far not many asain bats are finished to a high standard, as long as it plus well and your happy that's the main thing. Few to many stickers on CA bats for my liking though.

compared to other Asian brand bats finishing is good on this one. Agree, this is little dry as always the case with CA bats, but they perform.

That's the point mate, Asian bats are not expected to be finished perfectly, this one has a decent finish. Stickers are too many on CA even SS bats are stickered heavily.

Handles are light weight and not very strong.
-
Looks a good bat but I will disagree with your statement that Asian bats are not finished well.

I am not saying that Asian bats are not finished well, UK made are better finished bats.

The willow looks great! Grains are very nice.😄

Thanks Vintagebat. Willow is really nice on this one.

How does it ping ?
By hitting it with a ball or mallet...???!!! :D
-
How does it ping ?
ping is not very good compared to my other CA bats. May be it will open up after knocking.

Thanks Dave,
You right mate, this jamshed is not a big bat and i didn't liked it much.
B3 just received Dave, it pings fantastic and it is a beast. Will make a new thread with pics and review for this special bat.

Agree on this, Dave is bat expert.
-
Your words are too king i'm no expert just when something is a one off is a one off.
I selected the cleft you selected the profile and what a profile mate.
-
I once paid $400 for a custom order bat directly from CA factory, they told me it will be exactly to my spec. but unfortunately it did not meet half of my spec...they just picked something close enough from the shelf. Never again with CA.

This is exactly what happened with me
-
Don't CA only do one profile, so the one that they pick off the shelf is their profile?
-
Yes, for the most part...their sweet spot is always pretty much the same on every single bat and then some comes with fuller profile or little concaving, but if you take the sticker off you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. On other hand, they are really soft press and opens up really fast.
Pro:
Soft pressing
good quality willow even in their lower grade
Con:
Same profile for EVERY single bat
toe is weak
they don't make custom bats or unless you plan to visit their factory in Sailkot :)

- No.
- Every bat toe is weak.
- They do.
-
Every bat toes is weaker than the rest of the bat, but calling a chunk of wood of that size weak is a bit of a simplification.

They made me a custom which was a fantastic bat and toes on my CA bats are OK.
-
I owned 2 CA bats in past; 9000 and Custom. 9000 was bought from a local cricket shop and CA Custom directly from their factory after exchanging few email with my specs, but in the end bat was same shape as 9000 except better looking willow.
Lot of people plays with CA bats in my club and league, overall they are good bats...but personally I have never seen a truly customized bat from CA and that's pretty much case with big manufactures.
