Whats the biggest edges you have ever seen on a cricket bat?
I have seen 36mm on a CA Sher Amin bat 8)
-
have not seen it but was told a essex 2nd team player now uses a 4 lb 2 bat in the local club league
-
Oh my word how hard to pick up must that be!
-
did see it but james laver foromlaver and wood made a bat for a maouri bloke that was 4'6''. and he was swinging it like a tennis raquet. oh well thats maouri people for ya. big burley people. and i think the strongest culture of peopelin the world
-
4,6!! lol why didant he just use the tree?
-
Was that actually a cricket bat though? Wasnt it a bat for one of their other sports?
-
Collis King has a 4lb 5oz made by Nixon. Seen a pic of it, it's massive!
-
If you can get hold of a heavy bat guys its a great way of building up your batting muscles and shot power in nets - when you go back to your match bat it feels like air.

Ha, just come across this thanks to the bump by Josh.
I played for my school 1st XI against a Headmasters XI that contained a few ex pros, including him and Sherwin Campbell.
At one point he stepped across his stumps and played the ball behind his back with one hand using that club of a bat, hammered it for 4 through square leg. Eventually he was bowled on 99.
He let me have a little hit with it in the nets, I could barely lift it, but it was an absolute steam train when you middled one.

Biggest bats I've seen in terms of edge size

Sher Amin is Malik bat not CA. 36mm is nothing as 42mm is very common nowdays, i have a custom made from Pakistan having 46mm edges in single piece willow.

That post was from 2008, So you can imagine the bats back then were not the size that they are now.

That probably was huge in 2008 mind!
-
I think the criteria should be one piece of wood, Lammies can make silly bats like the one Josh has. I doubt how much use a 7'10 bat is for training. I get the process behind netting with a heavier bat, I use a bat 3-5oz heavier in the nets, but looking at your net video the effort taken to lift the bats means you are off balance and not playing the shot correctly. It doesn't appear to be training muscle or technique correctly.
-
7lb cricket bat. Great for dross dibbly dob bowling. Absolute cack for anything above dead slow.
-
A bat that heavy is good for a laugh but not for playing with.
