BOTH BATS NOW SOLD
So a forum member pre-ordered these bats as part of our Ashes special offer.
The long and short of it is he pulled out of the deal, leaving us with two bats at a price point that we would not normally hold in stock.
I am letting them go for a price that I do not think you be able to find anywhere else. They are selling for £380-£400 based on my research online. We had them on sale in store at £380.
I am offering them to the forum at £330 each, with free knocking in and of course free UK delivery as always.
They are both 2'9 on the nose, and are very big bats for the weight. They are perfectly balanced with lovely pickups and the performance with mallet and ball is incredible. These are two bats that I can definitely say we picked on performance, as to me whilst they are very attractive they are not absolutely stunningly beautiful. The Oblivion E41 is quickly becoming my favourite shape, I am sort of regretting ordering a custom Powerbow Gen X.

Oof. Who orders £750 of willow and pulls out? :o
This is a great deal for someone, a shame you have to cut your losses though.
-
it seems that ordering bats and then pulling out is more common than ordering and paying!!
-
Thats too bad but hopefully you had a deposit from them...hope they sell soon...pricey though...
-
Well they would be Tush, they're almost £500 rrp!

Ouchy :(....sad thing is that much money i think is for custom option but now that anyone buying these will not be the original spec it becomes non-custom....guess the good thing about GN custom bats is they are all the same shape as the rest of the range in that model...only thing that differs is better quality of willow so technically still a GN "Custom"....
Hope it sells soon Jake, I don't have any money left lol
-
Those bats look fabulous!
I suggest you dial 1-800-HOSK and 1-800-SMAY and these beautiful bits of timber will be gone ;)
-
The Test model is not a custom bat. It is the top model GN offer, if you don't count the Legend.

Might just do that ;)

If only I hadn't told the wife I was finished buying bats last week!
-
They are two cracking bats. A tad loght for me, but lovely looking wood. Sorry to here you was let down. Hope they sell soon.
-
Such a nice shape
-

Your Six6 is a lovely bat, hard to compare all these top bats, they are all great!

What's your best selling bat of this off season/2014 range then?
-
We all know they will be great bats BUT once again I am underwhelmed by the willow aesthetics used by Gray Nicolls (Lots of sponsored players - They get all the 'Beautiful' willow?).
Don't get me wrong... I am a performance over looks man (That's why I have two Lavers and two M&H as my match bats).

Great shout.
I reckon its a Gunn and Moore or Gray Nicolls.
A Six6 or Oblivion?

I currently have, and have picked in the past plenty of beautiful GN bats. I picked these 2 Test Oblivion E41's because they tapped up like trampolines. Here are a few recent GN stunners in terms of aesthetics, note they aren't all top end. The Nemesis is a custom made from top willow although it carries the players sticker. ( I'm not counting the bat on the left in the first picture by the way ;) )

Bubble or Six6, not sure exactly.

What is the performance like on some of these good looking five stars?

Soulman owns the Oblivion pictured on its own, i can't remember who had the Powerbow.
I don't take a bat that i don't think will perform. Some bats feel hard to start with, but will get going with time as they are used, my own Laver being a prime example. But when a bat is dead or has a tiny middle you can notice it quite quickly. I think part of the skill (if handpicking is a skill) is knowing the difference. I haven't been in the industry terribly long but the more i do this the more confident i feel about picking good bats for customers. I have received plenty of nice reviews/comments from customers recently so hopefully i am getting it right. :)
It is rare, but some stunningly beautiful bats can be poor performers. I remember knocking in a Kahuna Players for someone ( not purchased from us ;) ) that was very pleasing on the eye, but total driftwood to use. I spent a lot of time trying with the mallet and also on the bowling machine as i really wanted such a nice bat to be good, but it just wasn't.

I retract my previous statement!
The Powerbow 5* looks better than my mates LE!
-
The oblivion e41 I have got from Jake is my bat of the season from off shelf companies. It is better than a large amount of LE bats I have seen. It also plays very very well as do most GN bats to be fair to GN in my view there pressing of each cleft to achieve maximum performance is very good.
-
I've got an oblivion LE and it goes like stink, it's no where near as good looking as those from Jake though. If they were heavier I'd be seriously tempted, only thing is the one I've got is around 2.13 and the pick up is way lighter, so these will probably pick up like 2.7
-
my oblivion le that Jake got for me is the one in the middle with straight grains, unfortunately it become my second option due to the amazing performance from the six6 that i got recently....
-
Phwooarrr!! Look at that Nemesis!!!
You didn't offer me that one Jakeus - me being a 'proper' batsman and all!

I did offer you the opportunity to sell one if not both of your plums to fund such a purchase though Brucie, 325 sheets :o

How much is that Powerbow 5*?
-
Beautiful looking bats vitas, looking forward to seeing your offerings when I make a visit very soon

-
Hi Jake, just sent you a PM about the one on the right.
-
I WANT ONE!
Sadly having 3 other Gray Nicolls bats means I can't justify the purchase :(

Atleast one of each........
-
Seeing as Vitas are a legit company and all how about a raffle? Maybe £5.00p a ticket or something? I know I would by a ticket or two.
-
Sounds a good idea but that means 66 tickets are required to break even
-
£10 a ticket is worth it for a 35/1 chance to win a £350 bat
-
I believe bat raffles are banned on the forum?
-
Great idea, I'd be in for that!
-
Great idea
-
I believe bat raffles are banned on the forum?
Do it through twitter
Do you need a licence to hold raffles or something similar
-
Or ask the admin to allow it?? ???
-
I am in for the ticket
-
I believe bat raffles are banned on the forum?
Let a select number buy shares of the bat. Whoever gets pulled out the hat first, gets to keep it first, indefinitely.
Count me in.
-
id be up for the raffle !!!
-
Im definitely up for this raffle!!
-
up for it too
-
I'd partake in this. Good idea, I'm sure you could sell enough.
-
Since everyone else is throwing their hat in the ring, I will too!
-
Just for clarification, Raffles are banned under the forum selling rules.
-
I thought as much, thanks for clarification Ciaran.
We would like to sell these ideally chaps. But I will maybe look at a raffle on Twitter in a few weeks.
Jake

The bat with more grains has sold. :)
-
Where's the middle on the remaining bat Jake?
-

It is the bat on the left on both those pictures. Mid-Low middle i would say.
-
If you throw in a GN1000 duffle I'll take it (for free that is lol!!)
-
free duffle but P&P is £40 ;)
-
The duffles are flying out. Can't discount them, or even get enough stock to meet demand. I had intended to have one for myself but had to take all my stuff out and sell it to a customer this morning.
These two bats are already heavily discounted. I am happy to look at a deal if you are buying other equipment e.g. pads and gloves as well.

I'm down for a pair of the Nike shoe's, already had the legend pads and e41 gloves from you late last year! Does that count ;)

Both Test bats now sold.
Many thanks to the majority of custom bats forum, who i find pay promptly, don't mess you around with ludicrous demands, and most importantly don't pull out of the deal at the last minute.
Rant over, hope you guys enjoy your bats. :)

Working in sales myself Jake, we sell top end stuff, and would never sell something without the 50% deposit paid up first, you're a very trusting trader not to have done the same. But you've been a pleasure to deal with and have sorted me out very well. (as well as costing me a small fortune!).

My pleasure mate. :)
We did take deposits on our pre-orders (although not 50%) but this situation is too complicated to go into to be honest. I'm happy it's all sorted now and a couple of much better blokes have got some lovely bats.
-
Can't wait to get mine, Jake! You have been brilliant to deal with! Someone else's loss has been my gain!
I looked around last week at GCCC etc but as are over halfway through our season, there isn't a lot a quality stuff left.

Mark I'm not sure that I want one of these. The Kudos is making its debut tomorrow. I am def interested in another Puma Platinum Black. Can you make that your next bat? Pleeeeze?

lol, sorry Shaneo! You will take whatever you are sold for virtually nothing, mate!
Who are you playing today?
-
Arrived today: very, very happy, Jake! Taps up very nicely and picks up a dream!
Great bat, great price, great service!
-
Been intermittently bouncing balls on my E41 and wow, ping! Almost as good as my very well used Warsop. So much better than my Kahuna 1000 too. Absolutely love it and picks up really light too which suits me cause I love light bats.

Good to hear dunc mate, I'll be round with those Nike shoes next week :)
-
Jake, finished knocking mine in this week and used her in anger today. Really impressed, sounded like a gun going off and hit some smoking drives! Thanks for an absolute beauty, mate!
-
Used mine for the first time tonight, and the middle is amazing, however I'm ashamed to say that it took a hit on the top chequered sticker on the edge and has split :-( also cannot get to grips with how thin the handle is so will have to get that changed. Otherwise I love it!

Its not a huge crack/split but its at the top, and every time i looked at the bat I saw it and the crumpled sticker, and it annoyed me, probably not worth a repair but I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to these things!

Hi Dunc sorry to hear about the damage. As for the handle get another bind or 2 added to the handle which will thicken it up even if it's just 1/2 on the bottom end without adding too much weight.
Did look a beauty from Jakes original post!

Oh it is, from the (very) few I middled last night it went off like a gun without barely any kick back through the handle. But having big hands a thin handle doesn't suit me. And have before now binned off bats because of thin handles as I find too many grips and you lose feeling of the bat almost its too....rubbery!
-
Have you tried a double thickness grip? Bulldog have them, they are excellent for this situation!
-
I found the handle too thin also but replaced it with a double thickness chevron grip from Affinity and it is now perfect!
-

I didn't know you could get double thickness grips to be honest, Jake has said he'll hoof on a thrid grip for me, so I'll try that first, failing that a double thickness grip, failing that a new handle!!
