Title: Anything new from Hunts County?
Post by: Cedrictoad on January 17, 2014, 03:33:23 PM
Does anybody know if Hunts County are going to be bringing out new keeping gloves this year?

The rest of the range remains the same.

Forgot to ask, do these sit in between the Clipper model and the Glory model in terms of price and quality?

Different materials to the clipper. The clipper has lots of nice high quality leather. Whereas the Revolution uses modern lightweight PU. To me the Revolution is a top of the range glove.

It is exactly the same glove as the TON Max Power, which i will probably be wearing this season as they are the closest thing i have found to my Gray Nicolls Legends from 2012.

Vitas, how do you compare the modern lightweight PU against the leather?

Do you find your hands sweat less?  Do they wear as hard as the leather?  Is the shock absorption the same?

The one thing about heavy gloves is that you can flick them off easier before throwing at the stumps.  Do PU gloves shake off as easy?

Don't have an issue with my hands sweating, so i can't really comment.

the shock absorbtion is not really relelvant as the PU material is for the majority, used on the backhand.

I feel the gloves are hard wearing yes. My 2012 legend gloves are still going strong.

Can't say i've noticed an issue with removing the glove becuase it is lighter, though i do know what you mean

Hunts County Clipper keeping gloves are my current set. They are a really nice, really comfy glove. Excellent quality as well.

Got to admit, the new revolution gloves are tempting. Really nice looking colour scheme.

I have the Clippers as well and love them, they are a top glove.

I like the idea of a lighter weight glove but I am not sold on owning gloves that aren't white... maybe I need to look past the aesthetics?

I am the same. Tough choice for me to move away from GN Legends. Whilst the newer 2013/4 Legends are lovely, they just aren't quite the same as my 2012 ones. The TON (and Hunts) ones are very close, but being black is a big downside for me. I love white WK gloves.

To be honest I think we are in the majority on this point.  Wicket keeping gloves have just got to be white.

Do you use the same inners for the PU tight gloves or do you use inners that are a little more "grippier"?

Same inners. I had m&h gloves a few years ago, in the tan leather. They were luverrrrly, and not white. So maybe my feelings are not quite as strong. It hasn't taken too much really to ditch my GN Legends and go with TON.

How do you rate your GN Legends?  Are the 2014 models as good?

Apart from the Clippers & the GN Legends is there anything else in the white that you could recommend?

I do still like the Legends in their 2013/4 spec, and the palm is very grippy, albeit not terribly long lasting (I had them this season and they are bald in places) but they aren't they same cut/feel as the 2012 ones.

www.vitascricket.co.uk/products.php?id=1025 (http://www.vitascricket.co.uk/products.php?id=1025) - they are long cut too, which is something I like, though it isn't essential for me.

TON products are going onto our website tomorrow, but in the meantime, this picture of the Gladiator gloves will have to do. These are the top of the range, made in the traditional way with high quality leather.

...*attempting to resist the urge to buy a new pair of keeping gloves*...

Those TON gloves look really nice. Nearly went for last season's pair before getting the Hunts County ones.

As for colour, I prefer predominantly white gloves with stylish additions such as this. But some darker coloured gloves can look really nice.

Three out of three wickets have preferred predominately white gloves.

Do you ever mention to Kookaburra when you are down there that they would sell a shed load more gloves if they ditched the Disco colour schemes and went with more white?  I think 75%-80% white is enough for me but I could go higher!

I did like the ones Dhoni was wearing last year which were 80% white with camo bits... they were pretty damn rugged!

B3 wicket keeping gloves are all white, and the best glove I've ever felt. £55 I think.

Their website doesn't seem to mention wicket keeping gloves.  Do you have any pics handy?

Found a video online (Lord's video for selecting wicket keeping kit).

Those B3 gloves look well tasty, any idea of what they are expected to retail for?  Are B3 bringing out matching pads?

There use of social media and advertisement is poor, I can't find any great pics,

But. A sample pair is sued in this vid. But they have replaced most of the black with white,

I saw the video that they posted for their birthday bash and the pro keeper they were interviewing said he would like some venting on the back.  Does anybody know if they followed through with this?

The chase keeping gloves are all white and look decent.

Im in the same position as vitas in that I loved the 2012 legends. Ive got 2 pairs that are still going, but have both been refaced a couple of times each.
I dont know why more companies don't go for the all white, long cut or traditional colours like the old kookaburra silvers in black and white.

Are people not bored of all white yet?! I've had four white pairs in a row and have made a conscious decision to go for something different this season although admittedly they do still have a hefty helping of white...

I think our wk gloves will be popular. Here is the design they will be based on

For me, there are some gloves that go for really bold colours that can look really well. Take the 2014 Hunts County Revolution, the 2014 Slazenger Ultimate, or the Ton Max Power Pro gloves to name three. However, there are some gloves that go for really bold colours that end up looking rather tacky and sometimes horrible. The one that struck me in that way is this year's Adidas keeping gloves, and to be honest, not seen a set of Adidas keeping gloves that stylistically I have liked.

So I guess it comes down to design. Most people want a classy looking glove, and some will go for a swish type look that some of those white gloves with bold colours. But of the two, I think the all white gloves do look very classy, though they can be a pain to keep clean!  :D

Are they the same design as the GN Legends?

Nice design of gloves to go with. Classy looking.

Can't say I'm a fan of all white gloves tbh. I wouldn't say that Kook colour schemes look tacky or cheap in anyway and if I'm honest if I was looking at two identical sets of gloves in every way other than colour, I'd always go for the coloured ones over all white.

They look quality.  Although totally different to the gloves in both of the videos that were on youtube.  If they are the current model I might have to invest in a pair!

My glove of choice are the b3 just waiting for a special size to come in they are as good as I have ever felt.

Funny thing is b3 softs came in for some criticism off here but if any uk based brand has more experience than Russ I will be very surprised

The turned in thumbs is a great touch and the give from packet is unrivaled.

Tried the B3 gloves on at Oval, very very good gloves!!!

I prefer the cane to the padding or a traditional glove.

I'd also recommend their square batting glove, very light and great materials.
