Title: Question for the whole Forum
Post by: Marc28 on January 31, 2014, 09:19:58 AM
I am currently unable to watch the latest England batting collapse some may say luckily.

But my question is has any England player managed to bat the whole 20 overs and build an innings as yes smashing boundaries is fun and all, but surely having a platform and someone to hang around and accumulate runs is better no.

So theres the question all replies welcome

didnt hales or wright hit 99 not out in one. cant remember if they were setting or chasing but batted for a reasonable amount of overs.

i think we just need to be slightly more responsible and learn to run!

Yes both hales and wright have scores 99 for England. Believe wright was not out

In the game that Aaron Finch got 150 odd I am sure one of the English players batted for a long time...

Google tells me Root got 90 not out batting at 5 but was in early (Hales 8, Wright 4, Morgan 0)

England look in disarray,

Not sure why. Maybe it's the mood of the camp has effected the ones that have come in.

Luke wright 3rd highest scorer in big bash.
Lumb 10th highest scorer in big bash
Hales 13th highest scorer, 5th best strike rate of big bash.

That was against the same bowlers in the aus line up, yet neither has looked like getting out of the teens, and getting there has been lucky.

I think England just need this tour to be over and quick.

For 50odd balls wasnt it? That innings would have been classed as one of the greats if it wasn't for finch getting 150

Buttler gone.

Root's innings was off 49 balls and from memory was a better display of hitting than either of the 99's.

Dear Mr Broad, stand in line you are embarrassing yourself.

Root's innings was more inventive and against a better attack - Hales hit a Windies side full of B players and I think Wright's was against Bagladesh...

Think Wright's was against Afghanistan?

Broady would be alright if he wasn't batting from square leg....

Anyone think root should move up to 3? So if we lose a quick wicket we can settle in I stead of another hitter coming in and risking losing 2 or 3 quick wickets as we have been doing?

Didnt Kieswetter or Pieterson bat all the way through the final of the World T20 when we won???

My observation is Root was not a factor in the recent Ashes serious mainly because he didn't score runs or turn the strike over.

Just googled the card for that final... they were both dismissed (KP for 47 and Bedwetter for 63)

This will be over in less than 10 overs. Lol 25 of 2overs. Finch only faced 1 ball!

Wasn't he on none in the game he did that?

he has done it a couple of times looking to slap it over extra cover. 90% sure he did it in the final. I wanna say Starc got him but that could be a complete guess

Above linked scorecard says bowled johnston. So you could be right. Both left arm seamers.

Broad bowling poo.

Red ink is correct.

The one I'm thinking off was in a day night game, at night, so wondering if it was for Somerset in the world t20?

This game will go 15 overs as a minimum (only because the pitch is slowing up so the scoring will slow down).

Dernbach is a dick. No questions get rid off him.

That wasn't out!

Think the fact that he was being messed about as to his role in a team getting hammered may have contributed to that.

What a disastrous tour - must be one of the worse in records...... Can't even get within sniffing distance of the Aussies
Correct me if I wrong, are Australia ranked 8th in 20/20 ????

Only one more match to endure now. Old Dernbach should have just not answered the phone when they gave him the call up!

I've just checked the t20 rankings as bored.

England 8th, wtf. Didn't think we'd dropped that much.

Hales still no.1 batsmen, and by some considerable margin. It's gonna take some good form from someone and bad form from him to lose that

Dernbach is apparently the 7th best t20 bowler in the world. I've lost faith in the rankings.
