WTF. They are all the same in terms of design (Sub Zeros form LAST season). Pics are below (for convenience):

Too much colour on the front. Not having a traditional range will hinder their sales significantly.

Wicket keeping equipment is better than batting gear and looks like it will give Puma a run for its money. again.:

keeping gear awsome

as for the pads i think there great and i think they will sell more as the RP's and Ice Sub Zeros are the ones that pros use in different colourways and we wer all complaining last year saying why cant we get RP/sub zero in blade colourway. i think it is spot on and will sell loads, interested to see the prices tho, will the rp pads be more because there green lol?

If you look at the ranges, Then you can estimate the prices as well. Kookaburra have used numbers this year (like gm) and the top of the range Kahuna Pads are 1000. Blades are 950 and CCX are 900. Finally, Ice are 850. Although the design is totally identical, I think we will end up paying the extra for the range logos to be put on.

Blades and Ricky Ponting's look good.
I notice they have also changed the part where the foot lies. A mates got a pair and they broke very easily at this part. Looks like they have incorporated a tougher material.

no. GM with their all white designs was a change after 3 seasons of having white and black only. We all loved them to bits.

GLOVES ARE ON AS WELL! Kahuna 1000 uses Pittards Quartz, Blade 950 uses Pittards, CCX 900 uses Pittards with Calf and Sub 850 also has Pittards with calf.

Interesting how the ones who have seen them all in the flesh love them, those who have seen a few low-res pics on a forum hate them.

The only bit I don't like is the small logos on the back but they're incredibly easy to remove. It's just one seperate sticker.

I think the kookaburra gear this year looks very poor. In my eyes, they have tried far too hard and it looks very poor. The bat stickers this year, again, I think are poor!!

Has anyone seen the Kookaburra MAX grip? Is it like a shock absorba?
Title: Re: 2010 gear
Post by: Tom on October 07, 2009, 03:08:53 PM
It is in the sense of it being a half/half grip, but it's not squidgy at the bottom like the shock absorba. Basically the bottom 1/2 is a Kooka Players grip top is Octopus.

I have just bought some Ice 850 gloves - I have the 2008 and 2009 ICE Sub Zero version as well. For those of you who like the (blue) kookaburra stuff, the 2008 gloves are really good, the 09 versions are similar, but I don't like the graphics as much. The 2010 ones I am really excited about - they are much smarter - with black rather than silver and the fingers don't look as if they will wear as much. Previous kookaburra gloves have worn on the fingers where there was a protective insert - however this has been replaced with different padding this in this year's model.

Having put them on, but not tested them, they also have a softer palm whilst retaining I suspect the same level of protection.

I will be putting my 09 Kook ICE gloves up for sale later (in the for sale section! OSM right hand - I'm selling them as they are a little too big) - was given them for Christmas and have only worn them 3 times in an indoor bowling machine so in very good condition will probably be able to do them posted for £20ono. pm me if you are interested

I will put pics of both up when I get a chance (wont be until this evening)

I believe that they are a serious improvement on their predecessors plus they are super comfortable.

Liam, did you see what the 850 pads were like, in comparison to the previous sub zero ones?

I got the gloves from ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kookaburra-2010-ICE-850-Batting-Gloves-Size-Mens-RH_W0QQitemZ400097345743QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Protective_Equipment?hash=item5d27a900cf for the rh or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kookaburra-2010-ICE-850-Batting-Gloves-Size-Mens-LH_W0QQitemZ350304921418QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Protective_Equipment?hash=item518fcce74a for the LH version

As I said previously the 2008 model are really good and these are better (only about £10 more) but have better palms and (hopefully) better protection. Personally so long as they are as good as my 08 ones, I don't care. I have the 08 Ice sub zero pads too, which I really like.

there are better things to have orgasms over than kookaburra softs though!!

Not an unreasonable comment - but I would say that they are very good and offer excellent protection. Also, I am sure that a) you could get them cheaper if you looked hard enough (althought the service I got from these guys was excellent) and b) you could get gloves that are as good for £25 from a different brand... I like the blue kookaburra stuff, so more the fool me!!

Yeah or wait til end of season bargains if not massively bothered about the newest ones. Or as you say use the smaller brands which are slightly more cost effective for similar designs and protection levels. Are very sweet looking gloves!

that is probably pretty reasonable

FYI I have just dug out the order note - the original pads and gloves cost me £31 and £46 respectively and the were bought in early Aug 08 so have done a almost season and a half (I play until the end of September) - given that there is loads of wear in the pads and at least another season in the gloves I think I have had decent value

i normally although £45 for gloves (have paid £50 for some to treat myself before) and £60/£70 for pads but i have to be really sure on them as i know they will last 2 seasons
