We were going to keep this simple and offer the Butterfly grade in one shape (the DB1) and make these up (into bats) and then offer them on the Forum, but after discussing with ProCricket I think you guys wanted a bit more choice in the design. So I have had a think, and have come up with an idea of offering you more choice. Below is a few designs both Series and a few of our sponsored players that you can choose from;
Now there are two things that dictate bat weights 1. Model/Shape and 2. Density of willow, so we can say the Model is fixed when you choose from one of the above. Now the desity varies as Willow is a natural product, and as ProCricket has already said in this thread Butterfly timber is in general more dense than other grades. If we assume the same Density (400) for the above designs the weights would be;
Ref. Model Weight * based on 400 Density
A. DB1 2lb 9oz
B. DB2 2lb 11oz
C. DB3 2lb 10.5oz
D. Bragg 2lb 10.5oz
E. Mull 2lb 12.25oz
F. Wagg 2lb 12oz
G. #1271 2lb 15oz
An increase in Density of 10 increases the weight by approximately 1oz, so for a Density of 410, a DB1 would weigh 2lb 10oz, or a Density of 390 a DB2 would weigh 2lb 10oz.
So if I post a picture of a few Butterfly clefts with the Densities written on them, you should be able to work out what each shape would weigh with particular clefts and densities. We can do all of this for the same price previously quoted and you can still customise your bat (handle length & shape, sticker colour etc).
Does that make sense?

Number 11 will wash up well mate
My DW is turning into my favourite bat just started holding and having throw downs after my thumb re break and it it simply brilliant
I was against these initially and very skeptical after using a couple of others but streaky told me to trust him on mine and it sure does go well.
I'm glad everybody who has bought so far seems to be happy and i have to admit this performs as well if not better than most of my other bats and is not just a bargain but a great Great bat...
-
My dw shape has been used in the last 2 games. And it flies. Lovely bat with a lovely feel and pick up.
2 team mates have Bragg profile butterflies. And they too are going well.
You won't be Dissapointed if you get one guys

What will be the difference between DW profile and Wagg profile( sweet spot, pickup ) considering both bats are of same weights ?
-
What will be the difference between DW profile and Wagg profile( sweet spot, pickup ) considering both bats are of same weights ?
Wagg has a more bottom heavy profile than the DW as the Wagg has a touch more weight near the toe mate.
Sweepspot i would say is elongated on the DW too higher up yet the wagg has slightly lower down and i would say less concaving on the DW too.

Thanks mate for wonderful explanation .

-
Thanks JB for pics, :) profile is lovely.
Sure Dave , will look at Bragg profile too . Thanks for help guys , really appreciate.
-
They do clean up well Dave, I'm not surprised no6 got snapped up! If you look past the stain a lot of them have 8-10 fairly straight grains. Mine taps up very nicely as well
-
Nice looking bat. I am getting the one in DB3 profile, will post the pictures once I get it :)
JB - does it ping differently from the butterfly stain mark?

I tested this tonight when I got in from work, it responds very well indeed off the stain!! :D
If this is the standard response of the stain the next one I get will have the biggest stain I can get right in the playing area!

Are your opinions of it?
-
Cleft 5 reserved down to the last two
Once again thanks to all who have taken up both this and the other offer whilst butterfly are nothing new I have been a bit of a convert to them my dw profile one has gone very well indeed
-
Hi Dave,
Off the topic, other day saw a B3 here in USA with Black stickers, it looked rather pale and white, do you guys bleach your willow???
-
Not a chance mate not at all we get the same willow as everybody else from Js Wrights and other sources mate.
Never would it not something we would even think about mate
-
Oh ok.. Just asked not to offend you or something... but the guy using B3 was a bummer..
-
No worries mate questions are good so is clarity If you see
The bat get a picture please .
Did you get a name ???
Never been asked that before especially on a butterfly thread!!!
-
It could be ahmend Mehmud or Hasan usman.....Pulled their names from Scorecard. Was fielding during that time couldn't take a pic... but If I see one Next time would surely do and put it up here..
-
Hey Dave, looking at cleft 1. Is it best to stick the butterfly in the centre of the sweet spot in order for the bat to ping at its best? If so what profiles would suit this cleft the best? I'm thinking 2.10.5 is about my weight. Db1, db3 or Bragg. Also which one has the best pickup?
Also what is postage to Adelaide, Australia?
-
Db1 has the best pick up in my opinion due to the scalloped flanks
Postage cost will possibly offset the bat charge mate
-

I believe you saw me batting. Happy to share any pics you want. Definitely not bleached. Definitely not pale and white. The ping is phenomenal (teammates keep trying to bribe me so they can use it). Best to send me a PM.
-
DB3 pick-up is really good as well with longggg middle.

Mine flies off the stain so I would personally recommend it right in the playing area. I got a 400 density cleft in a Wagg profile, it has a double bound handle and weighs a touch under 2.12. Really good pickup too!!
-
If there are any clefts left, I would like one. :) Not sure about the profile though.
-
Cleft number 1 left mate depends on weight and your profile preference
-
Question: Which of these profiles has the biggest bow and the highest sweet spot? Any close to Amplus?
-
The Bragg profile is unreal
-

Damn, what's it been in the past?
Also, can db1 be done as a long blade, say a cm longer or is long handle the only option?
-
How does a 2lb 15oz #1271 profile bat pick-up please? Also, how rare is a below 400 density butterfly cleft?
Thank you
-
Well 400 is the average so I would say not that rare but anything below 365 is quite rare.
Not sure the pick up on a 2-15 but the 1271 does pick up very well due to it weight distribution pivot points giving a better pick up than mos bats
-
Sarge I'm in Adelaide too. When they get their next batch of Butterfly in perhaps should buy some together to offset the cost of postage. I'm looking to buy 2 or 3, maybe more if my team mates are keen. Buying 1 is 30 to 40 pounds postage but 5 is only about 50 to 60. Is this post correct Dave?
-
I see. I'm torn between the #1271 and the DB2. They both look fairly similar, what is the difference please?
-
Well there is a massive difference
1271 is a all round power brute of a bat with weight evenly spaced with shoulders around 20mm and a spine at the handle at 45mm giving a 18-19mm forum francs massive oval handle.
In real terms a massive all round bat that picks up ver ver well to even weight all over a good all round bat and has the biggest volume of wood out of all the shapes on offer
DB2 is a well rounded bat but not as big going up the bat still giving a decent pick up mind but does not have the volume as the 1271.
Both good shapes one will be 2-15 the other 2-11 if you can manage to whield 2-13 I would go for the 1271 every time it is perfectly balanced shape in every way a more traditional looking bat.
-
My butterfly arrived today seems to be going well straight away will get a review up after today's game.

Ok, that sounds like a plan! And lighter clefts may allow greater selection. Someone else will snap up cleft 1.
Out of interest where do you play? I did a season in PDCA last year, but am returning to Hectorville in ATCA this year.
-
I will be playing ATCA as well. I'll be playing for Hope Valley as long as I get my body right. Missed all of last season with knee and back problems, and managed a couple of games at the end of the year before that. I've got some work to do before the season starts.
-
I want to get a DW1 and a DW2 in a lighter cleft. I'd probably get a Bragg too. I really badly want to get a big light DW. Surely Dave would be willing to part with one of the many he has ;)
-
Infact it might be in luck my dw1 might not get much use as I have the original dw same now and my dw2.
Will get pictures up but it the dw1

-
No mate as round as they come mate..

Do I need this just before the b3 open day !
-
Dave PM me about that bat. I'd love to buy that one off you, then probably organise another one for myself too and maybe one for Sarge. I have quite a big pay day coming thru in under a fortnight so I'm keen to grab a couple of bats and I'm sure my teamates will want a couple more once I show that beauty off.
