Hey Dave, looking at cleft 1. Is it best to stick the butterfly in the centre of the sweet spot in order for the bat to ping at its best? If so what profiles would suit this cleft the best? I'm thinking 2.10.5 is about my weight. Db1, db3 or Bragg. Also which one has the best pickup?

Also what is postage to Adelaide, Australia?

Mine flies off the stain so I would personally recommend it right in the playing area. I got a 400 density cleft in a Wagg profile, it has a double bound handle and weighs a touch under 2.12. Really good pickup too!!

If there are any clefts left, I would like one.  :) Not sure about the profile though.

Cleft number 1 left mate depends on weight and your profile preference

Question: Which of these profiles has the biggest bow and the highest sweet spot? Any close to Amplus?

Db1 has the best pick up in my opinion due to the scalloped flanks

Postage cost will possibly offset the bat charge mate

Damn, what's it been in the past?

Also, can db1 be done as a long blade, say a cm longer or is long handle the only option?

How does a 2lb 15oz #1271 profile bat pick-up please? Also, how rare is a below 400 density butterfly cleft?

Thank you

Well 400 is the average so I would say not that rare but anything below 365 is quite rare.

Not sure the pick up on a 2-15 but the 1271 does pick up very well due to it weight distribution pivot points giving a better pick up than mos bats

Sarge I'm in Adelaide too. When they get their next batch of Butterfly in perhaps should buy some together to offset the cost of postage. I'm looking to buy 2 or 3, maybe more if my team mates are keen. Buying 1 is 30 to 40 pounds postage but 5 is only about 50 to 60. Is this post correct Dave?

I see. I'm torn between the #1271 and the DB2. They both look fairly similar, what is the difference please?

Well there is a massive difference

1271 is a all round power brute of a bat with weight evenly spaced with shoulders around 20mm and a spine at the handle at 45mm giving a 18-19mm forum francs massive oval handle.

In real terms a massive all round bat that picks up ver ver well to even weight all over a good all round bat and has the biggest volume of wood out of all the shapes on offer

DB2 is a well rounded bat but not as big going up the bat still giving a decent pick up mind but does not have the volume as the 1271.

Both good shapes one will be 2-15 the other 2-11 if you can manage to whield 2-13 I would go for the 1271 every time it is perfectly balanced shape in every way a more traditional looking bat.

Ok, that sounds like a plan! And lighter clefts may allow greater selection. Someone else will snap up cleft 1.

Out of interest where do you play? I did a season in PDCA last year, but am returning to Hectorville in ATCA this year.

I will be playing ATCA as well. I'll be playing for Hope Valley as long as I get my body right. Missed all of last season with knee and back problems, and managed a couple of games at the end of the year before that. I've got some work to do before the season starts.

I want to get a DW1 and a DW2 in a lighter cleft. I'd probably get a Bragg too. I really badly want to get a big light DW. Surely Dave would be willing to part with one of the many he has  ;)
