I was so excited. I purchased this bat from tc2584. It is a 1271, weighs only 2'9.5 with a facesheet, toe guard and one grip.
Waited a week for it. Opened the package, delivered by Hermes, to find...
A crack in the shoulder

Two huge dented cracks in the spine
(http://imageshack.us/a/img674/1857/Rw7dwJ.jpg)
Not shown well, but a large dent across the face where the bat looks like its been hit against a pole...
Which has cracked the face...

Oh and toe damage...

The worst thing about it is that the bat now sounds dead and when hit, sounds delaminated (like hitting a ball with a tin tray)..
I am just glad tc2584 had insurance so that neither of us are out of pocket!
-
Out of interest who was the (incompetent) courier?
-
Oh my, I'll be double wrapping anything I send out now! How much bubble wrap/cardboard was used to protect the bat?

Apart from a box, it was extremely well packaged. Not a black binbag job...
-
Hmm. I've had bats go both ways via my hermes and had no issues as of yet.
I do bubble wrap and cardboard, but have not gone extreme on the wrapping yet.
-
I'm presuming all this damage occurred when in their possession?
I use myHermes all the time and haven't had any bad comment from buyers. Currently have two bats being sent together so hope they have been looked after.
-
Was the box damaged heavily?
I've only had one issue with my hermes. They delivered a bat 3 days late with the box ripped open, fortunately it was well bubble wrapped and the damage was at the handle end so bat arrived in perfect condition. To damage the bat that much the box must have been dragged through a minefield
-
I agree John.
It is really not good.
-
always a downer when it happens
as red ink says was the box damaged badly
I have used myhermes many times without a problem but now I will get extra insurance and not just default £50 one.
That said I once received a brand new bat in perfect condition wrapped only in one thin layer of brown paper. It was through royal mail. I think I was extremely lucky.
-
It wasn't boxed, just bubblewrapped outside of a cardboard sleeve.
Really disappointed as right now the bat is in the bin and I am £90 out of pocket :(
Just hoping this does not turn into another UKsportswarehouse debacle!

Before you bin the bat PM me mate, I have an idea!!

I don't mind at this point as long as I get a full refund. ???
-
I had a bat damaged with them once, full refund and everything was given, I'd be careful though, as the agreement with th T&Cs on some courier sites mean it was to be boxed, and won't compensate if not
-

and if he doesn't want it PM me ;)
-
I'll admit I use MyHermes for all my deliveries - other than a few late deliveries I haven't had any issues with damage at all, luck of the draw I guess - hopefully they'll sort it for you quickly
-
I use myhermes here too. Had 1 bat go missing and never turn up, but got a full refund. Only ball ache was having to make the customer another bat to replace the lost one...
-
I think myHermes can be very hit and miss as it's a network of self-employed couriers. I had a nightmare trying to get them to deliver a (sadly) non-cricket related item a few weeks ago and would never willingly use them again.
-
Thanks for the offers of help... And to the magpie-related interest from some! ;) lol
-

... But you already said in your opening post that you aren't out of pocket.
I'm sure you can tidy it up and EBay it.
-
Because tc2584 offered to refund me. He has not done so yet.
Honestly... It's dead. Simple as that.

Sorry for being thick but is it normal for bats to go dead after a crack or damage.
-
No. However I am not sure what is wrong with it.
I will do a closer inspection over the weekend and let you know what's what.
Sorry. Back to work this week and a full inspection for delamination etc has not been possible.

B3 are willing to do a half price refurb and re mould mate if you want it sorting the shoulder crack looks interesting

Can I ask how it would of delaminated in the post?
-
Incredible service B3. Dr Bacon on here answering questions the other night and now coming in to resolve an issue not started by them... above and beyond.

You have no idea how much it delighted me to see someone finally write this correctly and not top draw :D

Top draw and Shoe in always grate a little when I read them.

I'm the same with Frenulum.

What grates with me is students who say can I lend (your pen for example ).

If we are being picky about spelling and grammar.

Dave,
Thank you so much. I was so excited about your offer I ran it down the post office straight away. It is already on its way.
I really hope something can be done with it. I stripped all the stickers off during an inspection, and used a bit of glue.
Hope it makes the guys job a little easier! :)
-
Bat will be with you tomorrow GingerBusiness.
Just out of curiosity - all the damage did not occur in the post did it?
Streaky
-
Evening Doc.
According to the seller, ALL the damage occurred during posting.
I am still waiting on a refund... :-[
-
Still no refund - however the bat has been received, reoiled and fully knocked in this time.
Massive thanks to Dave and Streaky for all their help.
When I get a moment, I will post some pics. However, with the cracking - net bat only. Shame really.
Hoping Hermes comes through. Been waiting almost 3 weeks now...

Tweet them mate. I did it when they caused issues with a delivery of mine and they replied within about 5 mins.
-
I can't pal. The seller is dealing with it and is nothing to do with me from my end.
It was the £150 adidas elite from UKsportswarehouse last year and now £130 with this B3.
Starting to think I'm not very good at this bat buying malarkey!
-
How anyone can send a bat via courier without a proper box is beyond me... Seller should take half the blame.

Bats don't delaminate in the post,

He certainly isn't willing to take any blame for the matter, and he has said he won't refund me directly as he will be out of pocket.
Difficult one really.
-
A bat generally doesn't surface crack even if you swing it as hard as you can against a cricket ball being bowled at 80mph. And you're telling me a courier did this damage to a well packaged cricket bat? Hmm...
-
We can talk about it hypothetically all day but the seller will not refund as he feels he will be out of pocket.
He is also dealing with Hermes directly so I have no influence there either...
-
I can't.
For some reason, iOS8 will not allow me to upload pics to ImageShack.
Will sort it later.
