Title: New Reserve
Post by: potzy248 on September 24, 2014, 07:30:42 PM
Contacted the guys at Laver 2 weeks ago about a low density cleft that went like a gun. Had to wait a couple of days for them to sort through the new willow but finally they found my cleft. I was not concerned too much about looks but really wanted a big bat that was light. I ended up with a very nice looking bat that is huge and weighs a feather.
My specs:

Sub continent profile
Oval handle
Flat face
Minimal concaving
No more than 2.8

I got a huge bat, with no concaving, oval handle, flat face in the most perfect profile I have seen. Edges are 40mm and the spine height is 62mm, it is seriously huge. I will let the last photo show you the weight. Absolutely stoked with the bat and can't wait for the season to kick off next Saturday.

Sexy bat - massive for the weight!

Can't wait to hear how she goes out in the middle.

As has been said in another thread my handle is also quite thin, but i love it like that. I had a net with it yesterday and it was unbelievable. The middle is huge and it picks up like a dream. I love to pull and it was perfect. The weight and pick up make it perfect for me. Very very happy and can't wait to use it in a game.

Haha. My Lavers have never put on weight. Not sure its because I live in NZ or that I Give them a clean up each season. You guys up North must be feeding them rubbish  ;)

So I have been using my bat for 3 weeks now and it has been unbelievable, perfectly pressed and weighted the ball just flies off.
Anyway I found a crack on the inside edge from Saturdays innings and it was a little bit deep for a surface crack, nothing to cry about and it would've kept pumping but I thought I would send it to James and Anthony to get a second opinion. I sent it on Monday Arvo and they fixed the crack (Which was all good and nothing to worry about) applied the new shield stickers, gave it a full refurbish and had it back to me by Thursday morning. The service is out of this world and one of the main reasons I keep going back. Simply outstanding business they have down here in NZ.

Lovely looking bat that. Great profile. Love Laver's customer service. Just wish their bats didn't seem to put on weight over here.

Used this bat all season and have been amazed at how good it is. First time ever in my life that I was the leading run scorer at my club.
Made it to the National Club Champs (NZ) for the first time and got to face some of the best bowlers I have ever faced, needless to say the bat carved off some boundaries during the week.
I have never hit so many 4s and 6s in a season and I believe the bat has made a massive difference in my game. Already put an order for another one so that it is ready for next season.

Laver and Wood continue to make the best bats I have ever used.

Who do you play for mate? We narrowly missed out on making the 6 after losing to Skippys team.

That I am.

I have been converted to the new modern shapes too after always using the "classic" profile. Miss timed shots still went the distance.
