Title: Woodstock platinum or kookaburra kahuna players 2014
Post by: Hobnobs27 on October 15, 2014, 01:01:54 AM
I don't know which bat to get
A woodstock platinum 49mm 2.10
Or kookaburra kahuna players
Both for same price

I suspect the answer will be universally... for the price you could get a custom bat made to your specs. B3 could do it via skype.

don't bother with either, if your spending plus £200.00 which these 2 bats both are, contact one of the UK small batmakers and get something to your own specs that will suit your game more.

One of the good things about this forum(there are other good things sont get me wrong :-)) is the access to quality batmakers

there are a few take your pick

good luck

If you're set in one of those two then go for the Woodstock.

As above though for the same (or less) money you can get a bat custom made.

In light of recent events and happenings I have come to the conclusion that nothing gets past the forumites on here, and perhaps a career in investigations should be on the horizon for some!!

49mm Woodstock Airstream... I would be highly sceptical if this is the case (Unless it is from John himself).

I have the one from the gear test and that is 42/43mm for 2'9.

John is good... But not a magician!

john is a lovely bloke and there are some good bats coming out of woodstock

An un-named under cover agent from the forum is setting up infra red cameras thou down there to observe if there is is wood being shaved and shaped

It's a crazy question! The answer would surely depend on which weight, profile, pickup and spec suits your style of play better?
49mm edges at 2'10 sounds inaccurate to me! But even if it were that size, you haven't mentioned the profile (concaved? not concaved?) and you haven't mentioned the weight of the Kookaburra either!?
I would look at your budget and decide what profile and spec you prefer, then go from there! Make a short list and try to actually get your hands on some of the bats on the list to see how they feel to you! When you have the right bat in your hands, you will know it! And it won't be because it has 50mm+ edges, or because its a players grade.....it'll be because it feels perfect for you and taps up beautifully!  ;)

great advice from the Hosk.

choosing a bat is much like choosing a girlfriend or wife, you can have a short list of qualities, blond or brunette, skinny or with love handles, but until you have a feel you really don't know which one will work out right in the long run.

And for heavens sake don't go over your budget, you will end up broke and on the streets without enough cash for pay your match fee's for the Saturday game, let alone a pint at the bar.

 :)

49mm edge is HUGE even bigger then my H4L which is the biggest bat iv ever owned or seen that was t a gimmick of concaved to hell.

Personally iv never owned or used a Woodstock but seen a few in action and never been that impressed by them even though I'm pretty sure there TK shaped and pressed (this is just my understanding) kooks have always been trusted bats but there are many on here that will offer you exactly what you want in custom shape or standard shape . The red ink offer is excellent at the moment with custom bats from £100 and there G1 at £180 also many other companies that in my view ( and I own a fair few bats can offer you better unless you have your heart set on these specific models.

Quite possibly my favourite quote I've seen on here!

Again with both a woman and a bat, you can just order one off the Internet, but chances are, it'll be the wrong weight, wrong shape, it won't understand you, you won't get a long and she'll end up running away with the Postman, just because he speaks Mandarin! (that last part might not happen with a bat)

Buying a bat is very much like making love to a beautiful woman.  Pick her up,  stroke her for a bit and when she's ready she'll go like a train.
