Mike is hand delivering an (apparently pretty special) LE bat to our store next week, which we will do a video review on to get the ball rolling. The hand-picking (of the full range) will follow later on at a time TBC.

You won't be disappointed Paul 😉

That is a lovely looking bat!
-
Naked on the doona - bat porn in the most literal sense...
-
I haven't even seen it yet! Will update the thread when I have...
-
OK here you go:
40mm edges
66mm spine
2lb 8.5oz
minimal concaving
16 grains
-
Crikey!
That looks one expensive bat!
-
£400! :o
-
£400! :o
correct, only £400. Having seen the bat, and most of the other brands' offerings in a similar price point, I believe this is very decent value for money...

a maximum of 5 of these bats are made per year, so they are about as limited edition as a "limited edition" bat can be...
-

I've just choked on my whiskey non alcoholic beverage!
I know I'm a bit of a tight git when it comes to buying bats, but I never thought I'd see the day a piece of willow was described as "only £400" or £400 being called "good value for money"!
As lovely looking a bat as it is, to me that's a crazy price for a bit of tree (that's admitedly been very nicely finished) on a handle!
No doubt this will sell as there is obviously a market for bats at this price point, but the prices people pay are getting crazy now. (Or in just getting to be more of a tight so and so...)

I don't think you have seen many of the 2015 price lists then...
-
yeh but whats the performance like?
-
£567 RRP for a Bubble Legend... Pretty much sums the market up this year!
They are dangerously getting into L&W signature/Salix Finite territory...
-

I've not made an effort to look at the price of the top end bats to be totally honest with you, Paul.
When buying a bat I don't want to spend more that £175, so that rules out some brands straight away anything above a "middle of the range" bat anyway.
Out of interest, do you sell a lot of these £400 bats, or do most people want something more "affordable".
If Joe Public, who's bat that was bought in 2005 needed replacing, walked into the shop (assuming he doesn't have 12 others at home like everyone on here) would he be shocked by the price of some bats or is it accepted bats cost the same as a car these days?
(I'm guessing sub £200 bats are the best sellers, but that is just a guess).
-
What happened to the Blank Bats motto of supplying the Best G1 bats at the cheapest prices? Isn't that what that "blank bat" was originally all about?
-
Blank bats, any butterflies also expected to be sent to IJC in hulk profile?
-
I think unless I'm mistaken that bb are saying to IJC 'look at this' as a new supplier, let's wait and see there price points for grade 1, LE in addition to the best of the best. Although we on the forum are spoilt by some superb pricing from the sponsors vs the top end willow on the high street as eluded to earlier in the thread, there is no doubting willow prices in the last few years have rocketed! I picked up a GN legend for £260 when they were first released 4 years ago now and what's this seasons prices £600 😱
-
I remember bb as quality willow without the expensive stickers, I've had 4 of them so it's disappointing to see the value for money no longer being their on the top top bats. No doubt this is comparable with other £400+ plus bats but I didn't think this was what BB were all about. I'm think ijc have something to do with this pricing but at the end of the day when it moves from a sort of hobby/trial to a proper business prices will inevitably rocket.
-
I thought these were £400 RRP before IJC?
-
we agreed that the quality was sufficient to justify the price. Anyone who comes into the store to see the bat will hopefully agree, but of course if you think it is too expensive you are entitled to your opinion. I don't think that opinion means much until you see the bat in the flesh though...

If we could get more bats than this we'd probably sell more of them than sub £200 bats, as ours is a more specialist clientele who often prefer the very top end bats.
-
but the trouble is, for various reasons we are unable to get large stocks of bats like this. The main reason is that willow quality like this is just not available in any kind of quantity, so we can never really "stock up" on it, unlike the sub £200 bats...
-
yeh but whats the performance like?
the mallet response is actually what I like best about it. I know that's not a definitive guide to top performance but certainly bodes well I think...
-
IMO the profile is similar to the Black Cat Shadow.
-
i'm sure there is a market for the manufacturers offering £400.00 plus bats for club players, everyone can choose how to spend their own money, some have lots of it, some don't-that's society!
As a consequence thou every time the top end gets stretched further the market for the small(ish) British batmaker gets healthier and more gaps come up
And for that those of us that value the brilliant job they do should be grateful :) :)
-
The price is the price and in business that's all that matters. We have seen that there is a great variety of choice now a days with bats especially if you are aware like a lot on this forum are. Some will see this bat as perfectly justified for £400 others will just not be willing to spend that amount on a bat neither is ring or wrong.
Having had 1 BB in my time and it was a 2nds with a big know towards the toe it certainly performed well and I know from talking to others that BB bats do go very well. The other fact that has been mentioned is that this is going into a store in London. London being where there are plenty of clients who will not need to ask the price of a bat and if they like it that's good enough.
Personally well done to the BB boys for getting into a retail outlet and to Paul for supporting a forum brand through his shop .

Looking forward to the video review! Will you be stocking any of the other BB models?
-
I think that when you see grains like that you expect a bat to be priced in a certain bracket - there just ain't many clefts like that about, especially as it's a big bat for the weight.

Well if you look at affinity, m&h etc. even the wider and less grains are priced highly. At least with this one you get the grains.

Yes, we will, but just waiting for a new stock of willow to select from. I've been told it's more likely to be in January now...
-
I watched the video review last night along with the top 5 bats. The bb looked immense, I've got high end bats which are 5oz heavier which are around the same size!
Didn't last long either, shows that it was well priced for a top end bat
