The labels appear different and bit better than first version, is their anything else different than the first version.
Also can you now fit a high spine bat in the padded bat pocket. I found them a very tight fit with a bigger bats.
-
We don't have any of the older ones to do a direct comparison unfortunately, but this one seems to be a little bigger and with regards to the bat compartments, the ones shown in the photos, went in and out easily with lots of room and protection in this area.

Look good. I'm tempted I must say. Does that include postage?
-
In the uk!

So does the red! :D

Is this going to be like the kiddy argument of supporting the Red football team or the Blue one? haha

How do these bags compare against the GN1000, i noticed you have them for the same price. I was originally going to go for the GN but would appreciate any pointers why this might have the edge. cheers
-
please can you tell me, do these bags have wheels ?
Thanks

The GN1000 is an excellent bag and sold very well last year, it has numerous compartments and is nice and light too. In terms of main differences between the 2 bags, I would say the GN1000 is a more compact bag in which you would be able to fit your main kit and no more, whereas with the TON you would get some extras in too, like wicket keeping pads, gloves etc.
The bat sections on the TON are superior too as they are padded and there is also a velcro strap at the top to keep the bat in place, whereas on the GN1000 they are simple sleeves made from the nylon inner lining fabric.
I hope this helps ...

No wheels as its a duffle style bag, as opposed to one of the traditional ones.

Are they different sizes to each other or just different colours?

Just the colour difference, sizes are the same.

Really appreciate you taking the time to respond. Going to get my thinking cap on and decide.

I have 2 of these bags and there amazing except one flaw they don't fit either of my TON max power bats in the bat pockets just won't fit in there with the spine. All of my other bats fit except the TON bats.

This!
That said I put my bats in padded sleeves and put then down the back of the bag anyway, so it's not a huge issue really.

We've just tried out the bat compartments with a massive Powerbow Extreme that weighs 3.6lbs and also a full profile Ton Gladiator Elite and both fit with ease, so this years models seem to be perfect in that department.

Hey Vinay - don't suppose there's any chance of getting the Camo version over here is there?

Hi, do your website prices apply if I buy in the shop? Thinking of paying you a visit today to choose between this and the GN.

A bit worried I might come away with a load of other stuff too. Must resist...

Take a look at his own-branded soft Felix - they are very, very nice.

Oh no I wish you hadn't said that... Anyway just off, I may be gone for some time...

Good stuff - give us a full report when you get back. I;ve enjoyed browsing in his shop a few times.

Well that was fun :)
In the end I plumped for the Gn1000, and now I've got it home sure I made the right choice. I ummed and ahed in the shop however given the Gn and Ton were the same price, the only advantage I could see with the latter was that it was maybe a little bigger however not much in it I think. The Gn beat the Ton in pretty much every other way. The storage is much cleverer in the Gn, it's got a shoe tunnel at the bottom, 2 big side pockets, a smaller front pocket, and a neat top pocket just big enough for helmet and gloves. IIRC (though maybe doing it a disservice) the Ton just had 2 great big side pockets and shoe tunnel? Though the bat sleeves in the Gn arent padded on the inside, that doesn't matter because they're only backing onto my pads and on the outer side they're well protected by the bag's outer padding. I think the Gn might just shade the Ton for quality of construction though time will tell there. Also a couple of features on the Gn lacking in the ton, it has a couple of nice little handles on the side ideal for lifting out of the car or carrying a short distance like an ordinary holdall; the Ton just had a little handle at the top, not so user friendly IMHO. Finally the Gn seemed to have a bigger sturdier base, I wasn't convinced the Ton would ever stand up by itself.
I was a bit worried the Gn might be a bit small however it's a bit of a tardis. I've just loaded all my gear into it from my old wheelie (which has larger dimensions but definitely less space-efficient) and there's still a bit of room to spare... Ok some people will have more gear and I'd forget it if you're a keeper but otherwise it's fine. Takes a bit of organising your kit to stop it all toppling over but not too bad. I slung it on my back and it felt very comfy. Well pleased, life without a wheelie starts on Tuesday :).
Otherwise I resisted tempation. FC I couldn't agree more about the Vks softs. The Pro series gloves at £40 are superb, very very similar to (but better than) my Pumas which were £15 more. I know what gloves I'll be getting next. I had a bit of a look at helmets too because I want to replace my old Masuri soon. However left in a bit of a quandary... the new Masuris felt very uncomfortable, apart from being very heavy (which everyone's commented on), the medium seemed to press on my head in all the wrong places while the large was simply too big. I Was actually more impressed by the Gn Test Opener, ever though i think they look ugly and I'd be worried it would make me bat like Alastair Cook :o
-
Felix old bean - I shall stick my nose into your bag on Tuesday. However, I'm intrigued by your assessment that it is well laid out with lots of nooks and crannies.
If you had any time, could you post any pics of it with your stuff in?
-
I would if I could work out how. Cant find the old threads saying how to do it, do I have to upload them to photobucket or something like that or is there a way to paste photos?
-
Yeah photo bucket and copy the img and paste into a reply

que? :) no I must admit I hadn't noticed that however looking at it now I don't like having the bat sleeves on the outside, think that would have ruled it out for me. There's that Kookaburra pro one too, but it's huge - the Gn's the perfect size for me.
-
Cheers, think it will be my purchase too

Haven't checked how many pockets, just that I paid less than £25 for it so wasn't going to complain!
-
On top of all the gear you've got in there, in your opinion would there be space for 2 pairs of spikes?
-
There's a shoe pocket at the bottom of the bag (from the front)
-
Enough space for 2 pairs, batting and bowling?
-
I think I saw, possibly on here or YouTube, someone had put two pairs in - I think it's designed for one but it seemed to work. Might take a bit of a search to find it!
